First time I saw Battle Boss Bel’Veth load in, I thought someone modded the game. Not gonna lie. Bel’Veth already looks like she crawled out of some eldritch nightmare, and then Riot went and gave her the arcade treatment. The contrast between her Void horror design and bright pixel aesthetics hits in a way I wasnt expecting. Played maybe 40 games with this skin the week it dropped and the novelty still hasn’t worn off for me.

VFX and the arcade makeover

The new VFX carry this skin hard. Her Q dashes leave trails of pixelated energy, like she’s tearing through a retro game screen. Could be wrong here but I think her W knockup has the cleanest particle work in the entire Battle Bosses line. The ground indicator goes full 8-bit with blocky grid patterns that read well in teamfights without cluttering your screen.

Her E is where things get interesting. The damage zone gets this arcade floor tile effect, pulsing neon colors while she’s channeling. In lane specifically, it makes the hitbox much easier to track compared to base Bel’Veth. Your ADC can actually see where to not stand.

R form transformation keeps the arcade theme going. The Void coral she consumes gets a digital corruption overlay, and her evolved form trades the purple-black palette for electric blues and hot pinks. Looks aggressive. The recall animation has her playing what looks like a classic arcade cabinet – standard Battle Boss fare but Bel’Veth’s extra limbs make it more chaotic than the other skins in the line.

Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. Honestly the base voice works fine here because Bel’Veth’s lines are already unsettling enough without needing a filter.

The Battle Bosses skinline and release context

Battle Boss Bel’Veth dropped June 9, 2022. That was right when Bel’Veth launched, so this was her debut skin. Edward Chee and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured something cool with the splash – Bel’Veth looming over an arcade world like a final boss you’d find after dumping quarters into a cabinet for three hours.

The Arcade: Battle Bosses line has been around for years at this point. Bel’Veth fits the theme better than most champions would. She’s already designed as this apex predator consuming everything, so casting her as a Battle Boss antagonist in a retro game universe just works. (Random aside: the Battle Bosses line is lowkey one of Riot’s most consistent skinlines and nobody talks about it.)

8 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian is the standout for me, goes full dark mode and gives her this menacing silhouette that reads cleaner on the Rift. Rainbow is the meme pick but I’ve seen maybe two people actually use it in my Diamond games all season. Rose Quartz softens the whole look if the neon is too much for you.

Is Battle Boss Bel’Veth worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a solid Epic skin that does exactly what it should. New VFX across all abilities, a fun recall, and the arcade aesthetic gives Bel’Veth a completely different vibe from her base. Been running this as my go-to Bel’Veth skin since season 12 and I keep coming back to it even after Cosmic Matriarch dropped.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Kinda feels like Riot put extra effort into launch skins because they know first impressions matter for new champions. The VFX are clean, the theme is cohesive, and the chromas give you options if the default colors dont hit right. Shop has it permanently. If you play Bel’Veth in jungle at all, this one earns its spot in your collection. Last ranked session around midnight I had a game where the enemy team’s Kayn tried to contest my Void coral and the arcade explosion on R consume looked so clean it almost distracted me from the peel. Almost. Skip it only if you’re waiting for a sale or already committed to one of her other skins, but for mains this is a strong first choice.
