First Fizz skin I ever owned. Picked it up back in late 2011 when I was still figuring out what half the champions even did, and Atlantean Fizz just looked right. Something about the deep-sea color palette clicked for me. Not gonna lie, its still one of those skins that feels like it belongs on the champion more than some of the flashier options Riot dropped later.
The underwater treatment
Atlantean Fizz trades the default trickster look for a full oceanic warrior vibe. The trident gets a redesign, darker and more coral-encrusted. His body texture shifts to a deeper blue-green with some aquatic detailing on the armor pieces. The updated VFX lean into the water theme harder than base. His Q feels like it cuts through the lane with a cleaner trail, and the W proc has this subtle shimmer that I think reads better in teamfights than default.
Real talk though. This is a 520 RP Standard skin. You’re not getting new voice lines or a custom recall animation. Voice stays default. The E is where the visual changes are most noticeable – Playful/Trickster has adjusted particles that sell the aquatic fantasy. Been running this in my Diamond games for nostalgia and the splash effect on his ult still looks solid after all these years. Could be wrong here but I think the Chum the Waters shark even has slightly different coloring, leans more teal than the base version.
For what it is, the model work carries. The Forgotten Depths skinline doesn’t have a ton of entries but Atlantean Fizz fits the theme naturally. Fizz is literally an aquatic champion so the concept isn’t exactly a stretch, but Riot executed it well enough that it doesn’t feel lazy.
Forgotten Depths and the early days
Released November 15, 2011. Season one was barely in the rearview. Fizz himself had just dropped that same patch cycle if I remember right, so Atlantean was basically a launch skin. Part of the Forgotten Depths line, which is one of those quieter skinlines Riot built out in the early years.
No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot wasnt exactly documenting their art pipeline back then. The splash itself holds up okay. Dark underwater scene, Fizz looking menacing with the trident. Not their best work by modern standards but it has character. (Random aside: I used this splash as my summoner icon for like two straight seasons because nothing else felt right.)
At 520 RP this sits in the budget tier. Available any time in the shop. No chromas available, which makes sense given the price point and age. You get what you pay for and honestly for a skin from 2011 thats more than fair.
Should you pick up Atlantean Fizz?
Straight talk: if you’re a Fizz main climbing through ranked and you want something cheap that still looks clean, Atlantean Fizz is the answer. 520 RP is nothing. I’ve spent more on chromas I never use. Last Tuesday I was watching a Fizz one-trick in my solo queue game running this exact skin and it still looked sharp in the bot lane river fights around dragon.
The competition is tough though. Fizz has skins like Fuzz Fizz and Little Devil that go way harder on the creativity. Super Galaxy Fizz exists for the mecha fans. But none of those cost 520 RP. If you’re early in your Fizz journey or you just want a solid rotation skin that doesnt break the bank, Atlantean delivers. Might be overthinking it but I genuinely believe this is the most underrated Fizz skin in the entire catalog. Best value pick for Fizz mains, period. The Forgotten Depths aesthetic just works on a champion who already lives in the ocean, and at this price point there’s zero reason to skip it if you lock in Fizz with any regularity.
