Deep One Kassadin

First time I saw Deep One Kassadin was back in like season 2, maybe season 3. Couldnt tell you exactly. Some random Kassadin player on the enemy team just popped off mid and I spent half the game staring at his model wondering what skin that even was. The Lovecraftian deep sea horror vibe hit different compared to base Kassadin. Still does, honestly.

What Deep One Kassadin actually looks like

So this is a 520 RP Standard tier skin. Lets be real about what that means: you’re getting a model swap and a new splash. No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice lines stay base. No recall animation changes. Adam Harrington’s VO carries over from default Kassadin and thats fine because the voice already has that otherworldly thing going on.

The model itself goes full Cthulhu. Tentacles, deep sea color palette, barnacle-crusted armor. Kassadin looks like he walked out of the ocean floor instead of the Void. Not gonna lie, for a skin from 2010 the concept still holds up. The silhouette reads well in teamfights and the darker teal-green tones make him look more menacing than base when you’re Riftwalk-ing into the backline.

Been running this in Diamond games on and off since I picked it up from a chest maybe two seasons ago. The thing about older Kassadin skins is they dont distract you. No flashy particles pulling your attention when you’re trying to track cooldowns pre-6. Simple change – huge impact on the fantasy.

The Forgotten Depths line and where this skin sits

Deep One Kassadin dropped August 1, 2010. Early League days. Part of the Forgotten Depths skinline, which pulls from that deep sea horror aesthetic. Riot wasn’t doing elaborate thematic universes back then but the Forgotten Depths concept aged surprisingly well.

Kinda feels like this skin was ahead of its time. The whole eldritch ocean creature direction fits Kassadin’s lore about touching the Void better than some of his more recent skins. The Forgotten Depths line never got massive expansion the way stuff like PROJECT or Star Guardian did, but the skins in it have a cult following for good reason.

No chromas available. At 520 RP you wouldn’t expect them anyway. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever. Need to roll it from chests or wait for a Legacy sale event. (Random aside: I actually got this from a reroll during that ranked grind last November around 1 AM, three losses deep. Only good thing that happened that night.)

Should you pick up Deep One Kassadin?

Real verdict: if you main Kassadin and you stumble across this in Hextech crafting, keep it. 520 RP value even if you bought it outright during a vault opening. Best budget Kassadin skin in my opinion. Cosmic Reaver exists at Legendary price and yeah it’s objectively better with new VFX and VO, but Deep One has that grimy old-school charm that newer skins cant replicate.

Could be wrong here but I think the players who lock in Deep One Kassadin in ranked are scarier than the Cosmic Reaver users. There’s something about seeing that ancient skin in champ select. You know that person has been playing Kassadin since before his R got reworked. Might be a one-trick. Might be hardstuck. Either way they know the champ inside out.

Skip this if you need flashy ability effects or custom voice lines. But if you want a clean model swap that nails the cosmic horror angle at a budget price point, Deep One Kassadin is the move. Sits in the Legacy pool so you cant control when you get it, but thats part of the appeal. Not every skin needs to be a 1820 RP production. Sometimes a solid 520 RP reskin with strong art direction is all you need to feel good about your lane prio and splitpush games on Kassadin.
