Viego ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.20. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Viego ARAM build starts with a small buff: in ARAM, Viego deals 105% damage and takes 100% damage. ARAM also feeds his passive nonstop: someone is always dying in the lane, so there is always a body to possess.
Item suggestions here are editorial and based on what each item does in the current patch. We don’t use win-rate data.

How is Viego changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Viego |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 105% |
| Damage taken | 100% |
A small damage buff. His real strength in ARAM is that fights rarely end after one kill, which is when his reset matters most.
Why does Viego fit the Howling Abyss?
- Sovereign’s Domination: enemies who die near him become wraiths he can take over, healing as he does.
- Blade of the Ruined King: on-hit percent current health damage, double hits after an ability, and health steal.
- Spectral Maw: a charged dash that stuns the first enemy hit.
- Harrowed Path: Black Mist along terrain that gives camouflage and speed. The narrow lane has walls on both sides.
- Heartbreaker: a short teleport that executes an enemy champion and knocks nearby allies away.
What should a Viego ARAM build focus on?
On-hit damage and staying power. The item Blade of The Ruined King shares his name and fits his kit: 40 Attack Damage, 25% Attack Speed, 10% Life Steal, and attacks that deal a percentage of the enemy’s current Health as bonus physical damage. Kraken Slayer (45 Attack Damage, 40% Attack Speed) deals bonus physical damage on every third attack. Sterak’s Gage (400 Health, 20% Tenacity) adds a shield when he drops below 30% health.
Tenacity pulls more weight in ARAM than on the Rift because grouped fights stack crowd control from several enemies at once.
How do you play Viego on the Howling Abyss?
- Wait for the first death. His passive needs a fallen enemy, so let the fight start before you commit.
- Use the walls. Harrowed Path works along terrain, and the lane has terrain on both sides.
- Charge W out of sight. Spectral Maw needs a moment to charge, so start it from the mist.
- Ult the low target. Heartbreaker executes, so pick the champion who is already hurt.
How do shopping and Mark change the plan?
Two ARAM rules shape every game. You can’t recall to buy items, so you shop at the fountain at the start and each time you respawn (plan the next item before you die, not after). Health relics in the lane are the only way to top off between deaths. And the mode’s summoner spell, Mark, throws a snowball that lets you dash to the target it hits.
In practice, Mark is how Viego closes the gap to the carry right after the first body drops. You pick it before the game loads. It stays fixed for the whole match. That spell pick matters as much as the first item you buy.
What do those numbers mean in a fight?
How much does a 5% damage buff change for Viego? A burst that deals 1,000 damage on the Rift deals 1,050 in ARAM. Damage taken sits at 100%, so nothing is padding his survivability for free.
The bigger change is how often his passive triggers. You already know his passive: every nearby death is a body he can hijack and heal from. Fights in ARAM rarely stop at one kill, so chaining takeovers is realistic as long as he doesn’t get blown up first and still has someone in range to hit.
Who is hardest for him on the Howling Abyss? Teams with crowd control that land on him before the first kill, and champions who stop his Spectral Maw dash, like Poppy. Our counters page goes through each one.
Is Viego good in ARAM?
Yes, when the fights last. The catch is that he has no answer to a team that kites and pokes from range before anyone dies. In those games, play around health relics and wait for the first kill. For the Summoner’s Rift side, see our Viego counters guide. His skins are on the Viego skins page, and items have stats and history in our LoL items database.
Put simply, a good Viego ARAM game is ten seconds of patience and then a chain of resets that wins the fight.
