Wukong ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

The Wukong ARAM build that fits his kit is Stridebreaker, Black Cleaver, Sterak’s Gage and Death’s Dance on Plated Steelcaps. He flies in, spins, and lets the clone soak spells. Riot gives him a small boost here: 105% damage dealt and 103% attack speed.

No win rates, just his abilities.

How is Wukong changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Wukong
Damage dealt 105%
Damage taken 100%
Attack speed 103%

The middle row is a decoy of its own (fitting, for him): 100% damage taken is no change at all. The other two are buffs: 5% more damage and 3% more attack speed. Modest numbers. Still, why would a champion with a five-man knock-up need any help? Probably because melee divers have a rough time on a map full of poke, and Wukong has to walk the full lane before Nimbus Strike is in range.

Why is Wukong good on the Howling Abyss?

Cyclone. On a single narrow lane, enemies bunch up, and his ultimate punishes exactly that. The full patch 26.21 kit:

  • Stone Skin (passive): armor and max health regeneration that stack while he fights champions and monsters.
  • Crushing Blow (Q): an empowered attack with extra range and damage that shreds the target’s armor for a few seconds. Cooldown 8/7.5/7/6.5/6.
  • Warrior Trickster (W): an invisible dash that leaves a clone behind to attack nearby enemies. Cooldown 22/21/20/19/18.
  • Nimbus Strike (E): he dashes to an enemy while images hit others nearby. Cooldown 10/9.25/8.5/7.75/7.
  • Cyclone (R): a spinning staff that grants Move Speed, damages and knocks up every enemy struck. Cooldown 130/110/90.

ARAM fights last a long time, so Stone Skin is almost always fully stacked. Nimbus Strike has a target-click range that lets him jump onto a backliner when the front line overextends, and its images hit whoever stands next to them. The clone is underrated here, because random-champion teams throw skillshots at the first Wukong they see. Then Cyclone, which on the Abyss can easily catch three or four champions. If the team follows up, look, that’s the fight.

What should a Wukong ARAM build focus on?

Attack Damage and Health in roughly equal amounts, plus a second way to reach people. The order below assumes a normal game (swap in Randuin’s Omen if the enemy is all crit marksmen).

Stridebreaker first. Breaking Shockwave deals physical damage and slows nearby enemies by 35%, and every champion hit gives decaying Move Speed, so he chains it right after Cyclone to keep the whole group slowed. Cleave adds damage around his attacks. The 103% attack speed helps that passive go off more often.

Black Cleaver next. Its Carve passive strips Armor on every physical hit, up to 5 stacks, and it pairs with the armor reduction already on Crushing Blow. A short burst of speed from Fervor follows every physical hit, which keeps him glued to a fleeing carry.

Then Sterak’s Gage, whose Lifeline shield kicks in when a hit would drop him under 30% Health. Death’s Dance is the last core piece: Ignore Pain spreads part of incoming damage over 3 seconds, and Defy wipes that delayed damage when an enemy he hit dies. Plated Steelcaps make sense against auto attackers (marksmen, Yi, Jax and the like). Thing is, against magic-heavy teams Mercury’s Treads are better.

How do you play Wukong in teamfights?

  • Wait for the enemy to group, then Cyclone. It knocks up every enemy it strikes.
  • Open with Nimbus Strike on a backliner, since the images hit enemies around the target.
  • Use Warrior Trickster to dodge a key spell. The clone keeps attacking while you’re invisible.
  • Crushing Blow the tank first; it reduces armor for your team as well.
  • Stay in fights long enough for Stone Skin to stack fully.

How do no-recall shopping and Mark shape a Wukong game?

You buy on death and only on death. An early Health component counts toward Stridebreaker, Black Cleaver and Sterak’s Gage alike, so even a bad first death isn’t wasted. Health relics plus Stone Skin’s regeneration keep him topped up between fights.

A landed snowball from Mark lets him leap at whoever it struck. That’s a third gap closer on a champion who already has two, which honestly makes engaging from long range much easier. Summoners stay fixed for the whole game. Mark plus Flash is a fine default for Wukong, and Flash into Cyclone is the classic surprise.

Is Wukong a strong ARAM pick?

Yes. A grouped team plus a five-man knock-up is a good matchup, and the buffs are a small bonus on top. Heavy disengage and long-range kiting are the problems.

Facing him in the jungle instead? Our Wukong counters guide has that side of the story, with five junglers who handle his dashes and his clone well. The LoL item list holds full stats for Stridebreaker and the rest, and his alternate looks are shown on the Wukong skins page.

Long story short, the Wukong ARAM build is Stridebreaker, Black Cleaver, Sterak’s Gage and Death’s Dance, with Cyclone waiting for the moment the enemy team bunches up.

FAQ

What are Wukong’s ARAM modifiers?

Damage dealt 105%, damage taken 100% and attack speed 103%, according to wiki data for patch 26.21.

Why Stridebreaker on Wukong?

Its Breaking Shockwave active slows nearby enemies by 35% and gives Move Speed per champion hit, which keeps a group slowed after Cyclone.

What does Wukong’s ultimate do?

Cyclone spins his staff repeatedly while he gains Move Speed. Every enemy struck takes damage and is knocked up. Cooldown 130/110/90 seconds.

Does the clone fool enemies?

Warrior Trickster makes Wukong invisible and leaves a clone that attacks nearby enemies, so players often target the clone instead of him.

Should Wukong take Mark?

It works well. A snowball hit gives a dash to the target, adding a third gap closer to Nimbus Strike and Warrior Trickster.
