Taliyah ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Taliyah ARAM build is burst mage items on a champion the Howling Abyss leaves alone: her only listed modifier is 100% damage dealt, which is no change at all. A rock volley with a 3 second cooldown at rank 5, a shove that throws people where you want, a minefield that stuns dashers and a wall that cuts the lane in half. One lane suits all four.

These items come from reading their patch 26.21 text next to her kit. Nothing here leans on statistics.

How is Taliyah changed in ARAM?

ARAM modifier Taliyah
Damage dealt 100%

She isn’t. The Wiki’s champion data lists damage dealt at 100% for her on the Howling Abyss, and 100% is the value that means nothing was touched. No damage taken line, no healing line, no Attack Speed or Tenacity entry. Why would a long-range mage with a wall get no adjustment on a map built for poke? Our reading is that her kit is already balanced around open ground, and the Abyss gives her less of it than Summoner’s Rift does, not more. Worked Ground from Threaded Volley piles up in a single lane until she is standing on her own leftovers, and Rock Surfing wants walls to run beside, which the lane has exactly two of. The strengths and the awkwardness cancel out. So she plays with her normal numbers, for better or worse (mostly better, if the enemy team likes to dash).

Why does Taliyah fit the Howling Abyss?

Because every spell she has is an area spell, and the Abyss keeps five enemies inside one. Riot’s data for patch 26.21:

  • Rock Surfing (passive): she gains Move Speed near walls.
  • Threaded Volley (Q): a volley of rocks in a target direction, cast while moving freely. It creates Worked Ground under her; casting on Worked Ground consumes it and throws a single stronger boulder that slows. Cooldown 7/6/5/4/3.
  • Seismic Shove (W): an area of ground erupts and throws enemies inside it in a direction she chooses. Cooldown 14/12.5/11/9.5/8.
  • Unraveled Earth (E): a slowing minefield. Enemies who dash through it, or are knocked through it, set off the mines and are stunned. Cooldown 14.
  • Weaver’s Wall (R): a very long wall that she then surfs along. Cooldown 180/150/120.

Seismic Shove throws enemies in a direction of her choosing, and Unraveled Earth stuns anyone knocked through it. Read those two together. She places the minefield, shoves a champion across it, and the stun is hers without any dash from the enemy, which on the Rift takes setup and on the Abyss takes a clump that is already there. Threaded Volley at rank 5 is a 3 second cooldown, so the poke between fights never stops. And the wall? Weaver’s Wall across a lane that is one lane splits the enemy team in two, and whichever half is on your side of it is the half that dies. The catch is Worked Ground. In a lane this narrow she runs out of fresh ground fast, and a volley cast on Worked Ground is a single boulder, not a spray.

What should a Taliyah ARAM build focus on?

Ability Power, Mana for the volleys, and Magic Penetration once the enemy buys Magic Resist (they will, around the second item). Four items from the current patch.

Luden’s Echo starts it: 100 Ability Power, 600 Mana and 10 Ability Haste. Echo makes damaging abilities fire 6 Echoes at the target and nearby enemies, with leftover Echoes landing on the main target for 20% damage. Threaded Volley hits a group, the Echoes hit the group again, and the Mana pool keeps a 3 second cooldown spell from running her dry. Honestly, the item could have been written with the Abyss in mind.

Shadowflame second, with 110 Ability Power and 15 Magic Penetration. Cinderbloom makes her magic damage Critically Strike enemies below 40% Health for 20% more damage. On a map with no recall, the enemy team spends a lot of the game under 40% Health, and a boulder that crits a half-dead carry ends the argument. In practice this is where the poke turns into kills.

Rabadon’s Deathcap third, because 130 Ability Power with Magical Opus raising total Ability Power by 30% scales every rock she throws, and by the third item she is throwing a lot of them. There is no passive to explain here. It makes the numbers bigger, and Taliyah is a champion made of numbers.

Void Staff closes the build with 95 Ability Power and 40% Magic Penetration, the percentage kind, which is what you want against the tank who has been stacking Magic Resist since his first death. If nobody built it, Zhonya’s Hourglass instead: 105 Ability Power, 50 Armor and Time Stop for 2.5 seconds of Stasis when the dive lands on her. Boots are Sorcerer’s Shoes, 12 Magic Penetration and 45 Move Speed, and Rock Surfing adds more whenever she hugs a wall.

How do you play Taliyah on the Howling Abyss?

  • Mine first, shove second. Unraveled Earth stuns enemies knocked through it, and Seismic Shove throws them in a direction you pick, so lay the field behind the target and shove them backwards into it.
  • Move while you volley. Threaded Volley casts while she moves freely, which means poke never costs her position.
  • Save fresh ground. Casting on Worked Ground throws one slowing boulder instead of a volley, so step sideways between casts rather than standing still.
  • Wall the fight, not the lane. Weaver’s Wall at rank 1 is a 180 second cooldown, so cast it to split a team that has already committed, and surf it to arrive where the shove is needed.
  • Stand near the wall edges. Rock Surfing gives Move Speed near walls, and the Abyss has one on each side of the lane.

How do shopping and Mark change the game on the Howling Abyss?

With no recall, each death is the shopping trip, and the component order matters more than the final list. For Taliyah the first piece is the Mana one. Threaded Volley at a 3 second cooldown eats Mana faster than any relic restores Health, and a Taliyah with a full Mana bar and no Ability Power still pokes, while the reverse does not. Lost Chapter, then the rest of Luden’s Echo, then a Needlessly Large Rod toward Shadowflame. To be fair, the healing relics along the lane are less of a concern for her than for most mages, since 525 range and a volley cast on the move keep her out of most trades.

The snowball, Mark, is the ARAM summoner spell: land it and you may dash to the champion it hit. For a mage with no dash that sounds tempting. Don’t. A Taliyah who snowballs in has left the back line where Seismic Shove and Unraveled Earth do their work, and the champions who want to dash to her are the ones the minefield is for. Throw the snowball for the slow and the vision, then stay put (the dash is optional, and for her it’s a trap).

Is Taliyah good in ARAM?

Yes, on her own terms. The map gives her nothing on paper (100% damage dealt means standard numbers), but it gives her a clumped enemy team for Seismic Shove, a narrow lane for Weaver’s Wall and a constant target for a 3 second Threaded Volley. The Worked Ground problem is real, and it’s what separates a Taliyah who pokes all game from one who throws single boulders into a crowd and wonders why the damage stopped.

The champions who close on her anyway are listed in the Taliyah counters guide. Our guide to LoL roles covers the jungle and mid lanes she usually takes. The items above all have pages in the item database, and her cosmetics are on the Taliyah skins page.

Long story short, the Taliyah ARAM build is Luden’s into Shadowflame, the minefield goes behind the target, and the wall goes across a fight that has already started. Keep moving between volleys. The ground remembers where you stood.

FAQ

Is Taliyah nerfed in ARAM?

No. The League of Legends Wiki’s champion data for patch 26.21 lists only 100% damage dealt for her on the Howling Abyss, which means her numbers are unchanged.

What items does the Taliyah ARAM build use?

Luden’s Echo, Shadowflame, Rabadon’s Deathcap and Void Staff, or Zhonya’s Hourglass if the enemy team has no Magic Resist, with Sorcerer’s Shoes.

How does Unraveled Earth stun on the Howling Abyss?

The mines explode and stun enemies who dash through them or are knocked through them, so Seismic Shove throwing a champion across the field triggers the stun without the enemy dashing.

Why is Worked Ground a problem in ARAM?

Threaded Volley creates Worked Ground under Taliyah, and casting on it consumes the ground to throw one stronger slowing boulder instead of the volley. In a single narrow lane the fresh ground runs out quickly.

Was this build chosen from win rates?

No. It was assembled from Taliyah’s patch 26.21 ability descriptions and the item data, without statistics.
