Seraphine Counters: Who Beats Seraphine

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch.

Seraphine counters are champions who can get on top of her, block the charm, or make her pay for having no escape. Seraphine is a support-mage with area damage, team shields and a long-range charm, but no dash, so you either jump on her or block her CC.

Our choices here come from an editorial read of how every kit lines up against Seraphine’s abilities. We don’t use win-rate data, so treat it as our reasoning, not a stat sheet.

Why is Seraphine hard to counter?

  • Stage Presence (passive): every third basic spell casts twice, and casting near allies boosts her next attack.
  • High Note (Q): damage in an area.
  • Surround Sound (W): shields and speeds up nearby allies, and heals them if she is already shielded.
  • Beat Drop (E): damages and impairs the movement of enemies in a line.
  • Encore (R): damages and charms enemies hit, with range that refreshes for every champion it passes.

Put simply, Seraphine wins fights from a distance. Close the gap or block her charm and she has little left, because the rest of her kit only shields allies or impairs your movement with Beat Drop.

Which champions are the best Seraphine counters?

Nautilus

Once Dredge Line (Q) lands, Nautilus and his target are dragged toward each other. Seraphine has no dash to escape once hooked.

Leona

Zenith Blade (E) briefly immobilizes the last enemy champion struck and dashes Leona to them, and Seraphine has nothing to answer that.

Morgana

With Black Shield (E) up, an ally soaks magic damage and shrugs off disabling effects for as long as the shield holds. Encore’s charm and Beat Drop’s impair are both stopped on a shielded ally.

How do you counter Seraphine in lane?

  • Count her casts. Every third basic spell casts twice. Trade right after the double cast, not before.
  • Spread out against Encore. Its range refreshes for every champion hit, so a line of teammates lets it travel much farther.
  • Engage directly. She has no dash, so a landed hook or stun leaves her with no way to escape.
  • Cut her shields. Surround Sound shields and speeds up nearby allies, so look for fights right after she wastes it.

Which items counter Seraphine?

You want Magic Resist and cleanses. Mercury’s Treads give you 20 Magic Resist, 45 Move Speed and 30% Tenacity, which shortens the charm from Encore and the movement impair from Beat Drop every time they land on you. Quicksilver Sash gives 30 Magic Resist and its active removes crowd control except airborne, including her charm. It costs 1300 gold. If you’re playing support, Mikael’s Blessing lets you cleanse a teammate and restore 100 to 250 Health, and the item itself carries 250 Health, 15 Ability Haste and 12% Heal and Shield Power. The catch is that Mikael’s can’t remove airborne or suppression, though neither comes from Seraphine’s kit, so it strips her charm every time. Her team’s healing can be cut with Grievous Wounds from items like Morellonomicon (75 Ability Power, 350 Health) or Oblivion Orb (25 Ability Power for 800 gold), both applying 40% Wounds for 3 seconds on magic damage. Check our LoL items database for stats, cost and patch history on every item here.

When is Seraphine at her weakest?

When should you engage on her? Right after her double cast. Stage Presence makes every third basic spell cast twice, so once the double Beat Drop or High Note is spent, her next spells are single casts again. In practice, High Note comes back every 8 to 6 seconds by rank while Beat Drop sits on an 11 second cooldown, so the window is short.

She’s also exposed when Encore is down (it’s her ultimate and her longest cooldown). The charm is her main tool for stopping an engage, and without it she has only Beat Drop’s impair (and no dash) to keep enemies away.

Do her shields matter? They do. Surround Sound shields nearby allies on a 22 second cooldown, so if she just used it, go in: her side is fighting without that shield.

Is Seraphine hard to play against for newer players?

Not very, once you know where her charm comes from. Her main threat is the charm, and it travels farther through a crowd, so avoid lining up for it. Spread out and engage on her directly. Our guide to LoL roles covers support and bot if you need it, skins are on the Seraphine skins page, and ARAM players should check our Seraphine ARAM guide.

Good Seraphine counters reach her before the third cast and keep the team spread against Encore.

FAQ

Who counters Seraphine the most?

Engage supports like Nautilus and Leona, who reach her despite her range, and Morgana, whose Black Shield blocks her charm.

How do you dodge Seraphine’s ultimate?

Spread out. Encore’s range refreshes for every champion it hits, so a tight line lets it travel farther.

Does Seraphine have a dash?

No. Her kit has area damage, shields, a movement impairment and a charm, but no dash or blink.

Which items help against Seraphine?

Magic Resist items like Mercury’s Treads and cleanses like Quicksilver Sash, plus Grievous Wounds against her team’s healing.

Is this list based on win rates?

No. We built this list editorially, judging ability interactions as they stand in patch 26.21. We don’t use win-rate data.
