Roblox Report Rule Violations: How to Use Report Abuse

Verified November 6, 2026 · Status: live feature
Roblox’s Report Abuse feature is how players flag rule-breakers and bad content — report the specific Chat, Private Message, Experience, or Content that violates rules (not just the user’s profile) so moderators can see what actually happened. Reports go directly to moderators and feed repeat-offender tracking. Verified on 6 November 2026.

What to report (and what not to)
Roblox’s rule: report the specific violating content, not just the user’s profile.
- Specific Chat. The in-experience or private message where the violation happened.
- Private Message. Direct message containing violation.
- Experience. If an entire experience breaks the rules.
- Other Content. Avatar items, user-generated content, descriptions, etc.
Roblox explicitly notes: “If you just report a user from their profile page, our moderators won’t be able to see what they did wrong.”
Reporting a user in-experience
- Select the menu button at the upper-left of the screen (Roblox-logo stacked icon).
- Select the flag icon next to a user’s name, OR select the Report tab at the top of the menu.
- For “Experience or Person?” select the Person tab.
- Select the Which Person? pull-down menu and find the username.
- Select the Reason for Abuse? pull-down menu.
- Write additional details in the Short Description box.
- Select Submit to finalize.
Reporting an experience (not a player)
- Open the in-experience menu (upper-left menu button).
- Select the Report tab.
- Choose “Experience” instead of “Person” in the first prompt.
- Complete the report form (reason + description).
- Submit.
Report an experience when the game itself breaks the rules (inappropriate content, misleading title, etc.), not just one user playing it.
What happens after a report
Roblox’s description:
- Reports go directly to Roblox moderators.
- Moderators review the reported content.
- Repeat offenders are tracked across reports.
- Further steps may be taken against the account (warnings, suspensions, bans).
- Specific moderation actions aren’t shared with the reporter.
Report categories
The “Reason for Abuse?” pull-down typically includes:
- Scamming (fake trades, phishing).
- Harassment or bullying.
- Inappropriate chat or content.
- Exploiting or cheating.
- Impersonating another player.
- Personal information sharing.
- Off-platform solicitation.
- Other (with description).
Block vs Report — which to use when
| Scenario | Use |
|---|---|
| Someone annoying you, no rule violation | Block (hides their chat) |
| Rule violation — harassment, cheating, scams | Report (moderator review) |
| Both annoying AND rule-breaking | Report first, then Block |
Block is about your experience. Report is about the platform’s rules.
Reporting outside an experience
You can also report from:
- User profile. Roblox warns this is less effective — moderators see the profile, not the specific violation.
- Chat and Message. Right-click in chat for the Report option.
- Private Messages (outside experience). Report from the message thread.
In-experience reports are the best — they attach to the specific moment of the violation.
FAQ
How do I report a rule violation in Roblox?
Use the in-experience Report Abuse feature: menu button (upper-left) → flag icon next to name OR Report tab → select Person or Experience → fill reason → Submit.
Should I report from the user’s profile?
No. Roblox’s rule: “If you just report a user from their profile page, our moderators won’t be able to see what they did wrong.” Report the specific chat, message, experience, or content.
What’s the difference between Block and Report?
Block hides the user’s chat from you — personal choice, no rule violation needed. Report sends information to moderators — for actual rule violations (harassment, cheating, scams, etc.).
What happens after I submit a report?
The report goes to Roblox moderators who review the content. Repeat offenders are tracked across multiple reports. Actions may include warnings, suspensions, or account bans. Reporters aren’t told the specific outcome.
Can I report an experience, not just a player?
Yes. Use the same menu but choose “Experience” instead of “Person” on the first prompt. Report entire experiences that break rules (inappropriate content, misleading title, etc.).
What categories can I report?
Scamming, harassment, inappropriate content, exploiting/cheating, impersonation, personal information sharing, off-platform solicitation, and other (with description).
Is there a limit to how many reports I can file?
Roblox doesn’t publish a specific limit. Report when you see actual violations. Don’t spam-report — Roblox’s system weighs report quality, not just quantity.
