Roblox Badges Guide: Earn, Display, Rare Finds

Verified November 7, 2026 · Status: live feature

Roblox Badges are in-experience achievement markers that experience creators award to players for completing specific tasks — collect by playing, visible on your profile and the experience’s badge page, two kinds (Roblox-made Avatar Shop badges and Developer-made in-experience badges), and unlike trade-value items, badges are a pure collection achievement with no resale. Builder badges (official) From participating in Builders Club / Premium history “Builders Club” — legacy cosmetic
Developer-made badges In-experience, specific to that game “First Kill” — awarded on first eliminate

How to earn badges

  1. Join an experience with badges listed (check Badges tab on its main page).
  2. Play the experience and complete the specific challenge (collectible, boss kill, specific location, time played).
  3. Badge awards automatically when criteria met.
  4. Notification appears in bottom-right corner of screen.
  5. Check your profile → Badges tab to see all earned badges.

Finding badges to earn

  • Experience page → scroll to Badges section.
  • Hover badge → see if visible (“Join to unlock” means you need to play).
  • Sort by rarity (percentage of players who have it).
  • Low-% badges are the challenging ones — great collection targets.
  • Avatar Shop badges are listed at roblox.com/catalog?Category=13.

Badge creation for developers

  • Each experience can create its own badges via Developer Dashboard.
  • Upload custom icon (512×512 recommended).
  • Set description visible to players.
  • Award via Lua script: BadgeService:AwardBadge(userId, badgeId).
  • Can award any badge that belongs to your experience.
  • Cannot award another developer’s badges to your players.

Legacy / special badges

  • “Welcome to Roblox”: awarded to all accounts automatically.
  • “Homestead”: participated in old Homestead program.
  • Builder’s Club tiers: legacy from early Roblox.
  • Premium: shown as a badge for current subscribers.
  • Veteran: account age 1+ year.
  • Combat Initiation / Warrior: legacy combat-based badges.

Badge-hunting tips

  • Join experiences with many listed badges — more rewards per play session.
  • Check experience description for badge hints.
  • Use community Discords / wikis — some badges are obscure and need guides.
  • Rare badges (5% or less) are often time-gated or one-time events.
  • Watch Roblox news for event-badge announcements with time windows.

If badges aren’t earning

  • Did you meet the exact criteria? → re-read badge description.
  • Internet connection drop during award? → return to experience; some creators retry awards.
  • Badge not visible after 15 minutes? → log out and back in; profile may need refresh.
  • Think badge is broken? → open ticket with experience creator (Roblox Support won’t award a specific experience’s badge).
  • Related: Avatar Shop, groups, private servers, error codes.

FAQ

What are Roblox badges?

Achievement markers awarded to your account for completing specific tasks in Roblox or inside individual experiences. Two kinds: Roblox-wide badges (Veteran, Welcome) and developer-made in-experience badges (specific to each experience).

Can I earn Avatar Shop badges?

Some are automatic (Welcome to Roblox for signing up, Veteran for 1+ year old account). Others are tied to legacy programs (Builder’s Club). New players can earn newer Avatar Shop badges through promotions and events.

Can I trade or sell badges?

No. Badges are account-bound and have no trade value. Unlike Limited items or Collectibles, badges are pure achievement markers.

How do I see all my badges?

Your profile → Badges tab. Lists all badges you’ve earned, sorted by date earned or rarity. You can also see other players’ badges on their profile.

Can developers see which players have their badges?

Yes — Developer Dashboard shows badge statistics including total awarded, rarity, and (for public badges) which users have them.

What’s the rarest badge?

Depends on the experience. In popular experiences, 1% badges are legendary. Some event badges (closed events) have single-digit award counts.

Can I lose a badge?

Not under normal circumstances. Badges are permanent once awarded. Rare bugs can deduct a badge, but Support usually restores them.
