Roblox lets 13+ users add or change a phone number on their account for recovery and security — one phone number per account — through account Settings → Account Info → Add Phone, requiring the account password to confirm the change. Note phone verification does NOT unlock Voice Chat (which requires ID Verification or Facial Age Estimation). Verified on 6 November 2026.

Age and account rules
- Age requirement: 13+ only. Players under 13 cannot add a phone number.
- One phone per account: A phone number may only be used on one Roblox account. Trying to use a phone already on another account fails.
- Password required: Any add/change requires the account password to confirm.
How to add a phone number
- Log into your account. If you can’t log in, use password-recovery steps first.
- Go to account Settings:
- Browser: gear icon top-right.
- Mobile apps: three-dots icon for More.
- Select the Account Info tab.
- Select the Add Phone button.
- Select your location from the pull-down menu.
- Enter the phone number and account password.
- Select Add Phone.
How to change or remove
- Account Settings → Account Info.
- Your current phone number is displayed.
- Select the edit icon to change, or select remove to delete.
- Confirm with account password.
What phone number is used for
- Account recovery. Receive an SMS code to reset password or recover a locked account.
- Two-step verification. SMS-based 2SV (alternative to authenticator app).
- Identity hints. Roblox Support may use phone as a verification signal when investigating account issues.
What phone number is NOT used for
Roblox has explicitly excluded phone verification as a way to unlock certain features:
- Voice Chat. Phone verification does NOT count. Only ID Verification or Facial Age Estimation unlocks Voice Chat per Roblox’s rule.
- Age-restricted content access. Same limitation — phone verification isn’t an age-check method.
- DevEx eligibility. Uses verified email, not phone.
Common phone-related issues
- Phone already on another account. One phone per Roblox account — remove from the other account first.
- SMS code doesn’t arrive. Check mobile carrier filters, request a resend, verify country code.
- Can’t log in to make the change. Use password recovery via verified email first.
- International number formatting. Use the location dropdown to set country code — don’t enter + manually.
Regional support
Roblox supports phone numbers in most countries. If your country isn’t in the dropdown:
- Roblox doesn’t support SMS to that region directly.
- Email-based account recovery still works as fallback.
- Authenticator-app 2SV (TOTP) works globally — not tied to a country code.
