First time I saw Woad Scout Quinn in a loading screen I thought someone modded the game. The blue war paint, the tribal armor, Valor looking like some kind of ancient hunting falcon. Felt like a completely different champion for a second. Been running this skin on and off since season 5 and it still holds up better than it has any right to at 975 RP.

What Woad Scout Quinn actually brings

So the big thing here is the theme shift. Quinn goes from Demacian ranger to something closer to a Freljord-adjacent tribal scout. The outfit swaps her standard military look for leather wraps, fur trim, and blue woad paint across her face and arms. Valor gets a full reskin too, darker feathers with icy blue highlights. Solid work.

The VFX changes are where this skin punches above its weight class. Q (Blinding Assault) sends out Valor with a cooler blue-tinted trail instead of the standard gold. Could be wrong here but I think the W passive proc marks read slightly different too, more of a frosty shimmer on marked targets. E (Vault) keeps the same feel but the visual on impact has that blue energy. R still transforms you into Valor for the roam but the trail effect behind you leans into the icy aesthetic.

The recall animation is custom. Quinn kneels down, does this scouting pose while Valor circles overhead. Not the flashiest recall in the game but it fits the fantasy perfectly. (Random aside: I use this recall to BM after getting a kill in lane more than I should admit.)

Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh. Standard for a 975 RP skin from 2014, cant really complain about that. The base Quinn voice still works fine with the tribal look anyway.

The Woad line and where this fits

Released June 9, 2014. Deep into season 4. The Woad skinline is one of Riot’s smaller thematic sets, pulling from Celtic warrior aesthetics. Woad Scout Quinn sits alongside Woad King Darius and a couple others. Not gonna lie, Quinn fits the theme better than most of them. The whole idea of a scout moving through enemy territory with her bird companion just clicks with the tribal hunter vibe.

No chromas on this one. Zero. Kinda feels like Riot forgot about it, which is a shame because a darker green or deep red variant would go hard for this skin. Permanent shop availability though, 975 RP any time you want it. Shop has it year round.

For context on Quinn’s skin pool, she doesnt have a massive roster. Phoenix Quinn exists, Corsair is there, Heartseeker for the Valentine crowd, Warden and Star Guardian came later. Woad Scout holds its own against all of them for pure aesthetic cohesion. Played maybe 40 games with this last month in Diamond and got compliments on the skin twice in post-game. That never happens with Quinn skins.

Should you pick up Woad Scout Quinn?

Real verdict: this is the best value Quinn skin in the shop. 975 RP gets you new VFX across the kit, a custom recall, and a complete thematic overhaul. That last ranked session on Tuesday where I was splitpushing top with this skin, the blue Q particles honestly felt cleaner to track in teamfights than base Quinn. Might be placebo but I’m sticking with it.

If you main Quinn or even just pocket pick her for top lane counterpicks, Woad Scout Quinn is the one to grab. Star Guardian has the prestige factor and Heartseeker is flashier, but this skin nails the champion fantasy harder than anything else in her collection. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Best Quinn skin if you care about the actual character over gimmicks, full stop.
