Warring Kingdoms Nidalee

First time I saw Warring Kingdoms Nidalee load into my game I thought someone was running a custom skin. The red and gold palette hits completely different from anything else in her catalog. Been a Nidalee player since season 4, and this one caught me off guard when it dropped back in February 2015. Not gonna lie, the Lunar Revel line had me skeptical at first because some of those early skins felt rushed. This one though? Different story.

What Warring Kingdoms Nidalee actually brings

For a 975 RP Standard skin, the VFX changes surprised me. The Q spear has this red trailing effect that reads way cleaner in lane than base Nidalee. Feels like the hitbox looks more honest, if that makes sense. Could be wrong here but I swear I land more spears with this skin on. Placebo or not, I’ll take it.

Cougar form gets a makeover too. The pounce and swipe animations carry that same red energy, and the whole cat model looks sleek with the armor plating. Jean ‘Curing’ Go nailed the splash for this one. The pose with the guandao weapon sells the dynasty warrior fantasy hard.

The recall animation is custom, which at 975 RP back in 2015 wasnt always guaranteed. Nidalee plants her weapon and does this ceremonial stance before transforming. Clean. No new voice lines, kept the base VO, but honestly Roxana Ortega’s original delivery still holds up fine.

(Random aside: I used this skin’s splash as my Discord avatar for like eight months straight and nobody questioned it.)

The Warring Kingdoms line and where Nidalee fits

Lunar Revel: Warring Kingdoms is one of Riot’s longer running thematic sets. Released February 10, 2015, Nidalee joined the line alongside some heavy hitters. The skinline pulls from Chinese historical and mythological aesthetics, and Nidalee’s shapeshifter identity translates naturally into that warrior-mystic archetype.

Compared to other Warring Kingdoms skins, I think Nidalee sits mid-tier. Warring Kingdoms Katarina gets more attention because Kat mains are louder, but the Nidalee version has cleaner execution for the price point. No chromas on this one, which is a shame. A jade green or white tiger variant would have been fire.

Played this skin in maybe 30 ranked games last month when I was grinding through Diamond. The red particles stand out against Summoner’s Rift without being distracting. Important distinction. Some skins look great in the shop and then the VFX blend into the terrain during a teamfight around dragon pit. Warring Kingdoms Nidalee doesn’t have that problem.

Should you pick up Warring Kingdoms Nidalee?

Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on Q and cougar abilities, custom recall, strong thematic execution. You’re not getting Legendary-tier treatment obviously, but for a Standard skin this overdelivers.

Still in the shop if you want it. No vault nonsense, no loot gambling required. If you play Nidalee in jungle or mid lane regularly, this is a solid rotation pick. I keep cycling between this and Headhunter depending on my mood that week.

The competition in Nidalee’s skin catalog is real though. Dawnbringer exists, Cosmic Huntress exists. But those run 1350 RP. If you’re not trying to drop that much and want something that still looks premium in your ranked games, Warring Kingdoms Nidalee is the answer. Been running it in solo queue since last Tuesday and honestly might be overthinking it but the skin just makes her kit feel smoother. Probably the red VFX giving better visual clarity on spear throws during late-game poke comps. Either way, worth the lock-in for any Nidalee main looking to save some RP without sacrificing quality.
