Warhound Naafiri

First game I loaded this up was around 1 AM on a Thursday, queued into a Diamond ranked match and immediately noticed the splash. The Warhounds treatment on Naafiri hits a vibe thats hard to describe. Heavy armor plating across the pack, war paint on the hounds, the whole aesthetic screams frontline siege unit. Not some cute pet fantasy. Played maybe 15 games with it that first weekend and kept locking it in over Soul Fighter and Project.

What the Warhounds theme does to Naafiri’s kit

Could be wrong here but I think this is one of the cleaner Epic skins Naafiri has gotten. The model work carries most of the weight. Naafiri and her packmates get this armored warhound redesign with metallic plating, rivets, and muted earth tones that read well on the Rift. The pack looks like they belong in some kind of medieval siege comp rather than the Void.

No new VFX on this one. Voice lines stay base. Standard for an Epic at 1350 RP, so expectations need adjusting if you’re coming from a Legendary. Her Q still looks like base Q, W dash is unchanged, E and R keep their default particles. The skin lives and dies on the model and texture swap alone.

Honestly not gonna lie, the recall animation staying default is the one thing that bugs me. Been maining Naafiri in the mid lane for three seasons now and the recall is where you notice repeat skins the most. You see it every back. Every cs recall, every roam reset. (Random aside: I time my recalls to the animation end out of habit and the base one is burned into my brain at this point.) Still, the in-game model during teamfights looks distinct enough from her other skins that teammates and enemies can tell what you’re running.

The packmates specifically got the best treatment. Each hound has individual armor detailing. When you’re ganking bot lane and the pack swarms through river, the silhouettes read cleaner than base Naafiri. Pre-6 laning the pack feels more visually present.

Warhounds line and the details

Part of the Warhounds skinline. Riot’s been expanding this line and Naafiri fits naturally since she’s literally a pack champion. The thematic alignment is stronger here than most skinline additions I’ve seen recently.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, goes full dark armor and the pack looks menacing in late-game teamfights. Sapphire gives a cold steel vibe that I think pairs well with the military aesthetic. Pearl exists if you want the clean look but honestly it washes out the armor detail on my monitor. Not sure if its just me but the Rose Quartz chroma feels out of place on a war skin. Shop has it for permanent purchase.

No splash artist credited in the data I’ve seen. Voice pack is base only, same VO across all forms.

Should you pick up Warhound Naafiri?

Real talk though. If you’re a Naafiri one-trick this skin earns its spot in rotation. 1350 RP is standard Epic pricing and for what you get, the model quality justifies it. The Warhounds fantasy on a pack champion just works. Been running this in Diamond and I get comments in lobby about the skin maybe once every ten games, which is more than most Epics pull.

Where it falls short is the lack of new VFX. Soul Fighter Naafiri exists at the same price point and brings more visual flair to abilities. Project Naafiri goes harder on the particle effects too. Warhound trades flashy effects for a grounded military look. Depends what you value.

Skip it if you only play Naafiri as a pocket pick. Worth 1350 RP if you main Naafiri and want something that feels different from the sci-fi options. The Obsidian chroma bumps it up a tier for me personally. Took this into ranked for about 40 games over the last two weeks and I keep it in my skin rotation alongside Project. For splitpush and dive plays the armor silhouette just reads better on screen. Good skin, not the best Naafiri skin, but a solid pickup for mains who want the pack to look like they mean business.
