Been running Sherwood Forest Ashe on and off since like season 2 and honestly its one of those skins that just sticks around in your collection. Not because it blows you away with effects or animations. Because it fits. Ashe in a Robin Hood outfit shooting arrows through the Rift feels so natural you forget it’s even a skin sometimes. Locked this in during a late night ranked session last October and a teammate in champ select typed “respect the classic” before we even loaded in.
What Sherwood Forest actually changes
So this is a Standard tier skin at 520 RP, which means you’re not getting a full visual overhaul. The model swap is the main attraction here. Ashe trades her Freljord armor for a green hooded ranger look, very much giving medieval English archer vibes. The hood, the leather armor, the earthy tones. Clean design that reads well from the gameplay camera.
Not gonna lie, the VFX update Riot gave this skin a while back helped it age better than most 520 skins. Her W volley arrows have a slightly different tint that catches your eye in lane, and the R Enchanted Crystal Arrow still looks solid flying across the map. Q feels the same visually but the overall color palette shift from icy blue to forest green makes her abilities blend into the Summoner’s Rift terrain in a way that I think actually gives you a tiny readability edge. Could be wrong here but I swear people react slower to the ult when it’s less visually distinct from the map. Played maybe 40 games testing this theory in Diamond 3 last season and my arrow hit rate felt higher.
Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either. Standard Ashe VO from Melissa Hutchison, which is fine because her base voice work holds up. You’re not buying this for audio changes.
The Albion line and where this skin came from
Sherwood Forest Ashe released April 8, 2010. That’s pre-season 1. Ancient by League standards. Part of the Albion skinline, which is Riot’s medieval fantasy theme. Think Robin Hood, Arthurian legends, that whole space. The Albion skins never got the massive expansion that lines like PROJECT or Star Guardian did, but they have a certain charm to them.
No chromas available for this one. Zero. What you see is what you get. (Random aside: I actually think the base green color is already perfect so chromas would feel forced here.) No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for a skin this old. The splash art itself is dated but has that nostalgic early League feel that some collectors appreciate.
Shop has it for 520 RP whenever you want. Permanent availability, no vault rotation or loot exclusivity to worry about. Kinda feels like Riot forgot this skin exists in terms of marketing but that works in its favor for the hipster Ashe mains out there.
Should you buy Sherwood Forest Ashe?
Real verdict: this is a budget Ashe skin that punches above its weight class. 520 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re not competing with PROJECT Ashe or Cosmic Queen Ashe in terms of flashiness. That’s not the point. Sherwood Forest is for the Ashe player who wants something different without the visual noise. Been maining Ashe with this skin in ranked for stretches and it never gets old.
If you’re an Ashe one-trick with a bigger budget, you probably already own the Legendaries and Epics. But keep Sherwood Forest in rotation for those games where you want to feel like a chill ranger farming cs in bot lane instead of some cosmic entity. Best budget Ashe skin full stop. Skip it if you only play her in ARAMs, but for ranked Ashe players who appreciate clean design over spectacle, 520 RP well spent for mains. Season 10 I think or maybe 11, dont remember exactly, but I had a 14 game win streak with this skin equipped and I’m a little superstitious about it now.
