First time I saw Kennen M.D. loading in, I actually laughed out loud. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about a tiny yordle in scrubs and a stethoscope that just hits different at 1 AM on a Tuesday. Been running this skin in my Diamond games since I picked it up on a whim last season, and honestly the novelty hasnt worn off. Tiny doctor. Lightning bolts. The whole bit works.
What the skin actually changes on Kennen
For a 975 RP Standard tier skin, Kennen M.D. delivers more than you’d expect. The model swap puts Kennen in full medical gear: surgical mask, scrubs, the works. He looks like he just walked out of the Rift Hospital and straight into top lane. The VFX got a refresh too, which is rare at this price point. His Q shuriken becomes a syringe projectile. Clean visual read, easy to track in teamfights.
The W and E keep the lightning theme but with a slightly different color tint that matches the medical aesthetic. His ult still pops off the same way in a dive comp, just now you’re zapping the backline as a healthcare professional. Voice lines stay base, no new VO here. (Random aside: my duo partner calls him “Dr. Thunderstorm” and I cant unhear it now.)
Played maybe 40 games with this skin specifically in top lane and the auto attack animations feel identical to base. No gameplay advantage obviously, but the syringe Q is genuinely easier for me to visually track during lane prio fights pre-6. Could be wrong here but I think the projectile reads slightly thinner than default.
The Rift Hospital line and release history
Kennen M.D. dropped March 29, 2011. Early season 1 era. The Rift Hospital skinline is one of Riot’s older novelty sets, and Kennen fits it perfectly given his size. Think Nurse Akali, Surgeon Shen. Same vibe.
8 chromas total for Kennen M.D. these days. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark scrubs look way more serious than the default teal. Rainbow is the meme pick obviously, and Amethyst hits a nice purple tone that reads well against the Rift background. Rest are fine but those three stand out.
975 RP sits in that sweet spot where you’re not overpaying for a texture swap but you’re getting more than just a recolor. Shop has it, permanent availability. No vault nonsense. The added VFX at this price tier is what separates Kennen M.D. from a lot of other Standard skins that phone it in.
Should you pick up Kennen M.D.?
Real verdict: if you main Kennen or even have him in your top lane rotation, this skin earns its spot. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The syringe Q alone makes it worth considering over Arctic Ops if you want something lighter. Kinda feels like Riot put extra love into the novelty factor here.
Been maining Kennen with this skin through two splits now. The medical theme never gets old in chat. Every time I get a kill someone types “doctor diff” and honestly thats the whole appeal. Skip it if you want something edgy or serious on Kennen, but for pure fun factor in solo queue? Top pick for Kennen mains. Season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, but I saw maybe two other Kennen M.D. players total that whole year. Rare in the wild, easy to cop. Good skin.
