First skin Lissandra ever got and honestly it set a weird bar. Bloodstone Lissandra dropped the same day as her champion release, April 29, 2013, which means Riot had this ready before anyone even figured out how to play her. Been running this skin in Diamond since I picked up Lissandra back in season 4 and the red crystal aesthetic still holds up better than it has any right to for a 975 RP Standard tier skin.
The Bloodstone look on the Rift
Lissandra swaps her default icy blue palette for deep crimson and dark stone textures. Whole vibe shifts from frozen witch to something more volcanic. Not gonna lie, the color change alone makes her abilities read differently in teamfights. Her Q poke looks angrier, the W root has this satisfying red burst, and the R lockdown carries a heavier visual weight even though the particles arent dramatically overhauled.
VFX got touched up here. Nothing crazy for a Standard skin but the red tint across her kit gives everything more presence. Her E claw feels menacing cutting through the Rift in that dark red. The recall animation is custom too, which at 975 RP back in 2013 was actually generous from Riot. Lissandra channels this red crystal energy and it looks clean.
Voice lines stay base. Tess Masters still delivering every line, no filter or processing changes. For a skin at this price point thats expected. The base VO works fine with the Bloodstone theme anyway since Lissandra already sounds imposing enough.
Bloodstone line and the release window
The Bloodstone skinline is one of those smaller Riot collections that never really blew up. Taric got one too. Kinda feels like Riot was experimenting with a gem-corruption fantasy and then moved on to bigger thematic universes. Michelle Hoefener nailed the splash though. The composition puts Lissandra front and center with those massive red crystals erupting behind her. Strong piece.
April 2013 was early season 3. Lissandra had just hit live servers and the meta was still figuring her out. I remember seeing maybe two or three Bloodstone Lissandras in my games that entire first month because nobody knew what her kit did yet. (Random aside: I got bodied by a Lissandra one-trick running this skin in a promo game around that time and thats what made me want to learn her.)
No chromas on this one. Zero. Bit of a missed opportunity since a green or purple Bloodstone variant would go hard, but Riot never circled back to it. Shop has it permanently at 975 RP so at least accessibility isnt an issue.
Should you pick up Bloodstone Lissandra?
Real verdict: this is a solid skin held back by its era. 975 RP gets you new VFX, a custom recall, and a complete model overhaul. For Standard tier that package is above average. Could be wrong here but I think this beats Program Lissandra in terms of pure visual appeal, and Program costs more.
The Bloodstone fantasy works for Lissandra specifically because her kit already revolves around hard engage and locking people down. Red crystals erupting during your ult on their backline in a late-game teamfight? Hits different than the default blue. Played this last Saturday around midnight in a Diamond 2 game where I caught their Jinx with a flanking E into W combo and the red particles just made it look devastating.
If you main Lissandra and want something affordable before committing to Coven or Dark Cosmic, Bloodstone is worth the 975 RP. Best budget Lissandra skin full stop. The darker aesthetic pairs well with the champion’s personality and the splash alone is worth having in your collection. Skip it only if you already own one of her Legendary-tier options and never rotate skins. For everyone else climbing with Lissandra this season, permanent shop, fair price, clean execution.
