Invictus Gaming's 2018 Worlds run was one of those moments where you just knew the skins were going to hit different. I remember watching TheShy and Rookie dismantle everyone in Korea and thinking okay, these guys earned something special. The iG set dropped in 2019 and honestly it's one of the cleaner Worlds skin batches Riot has put out. Six skins, all Epic, all 1350 RP, and they share this sleek black-and-white aesthetic that actually feels cohesive instead of thrown together. Been rocking iG Irelia in ranked for years at this point and the line still holds up.

What Makes the World Champions 2018 Set Stand Out
Not gonna lie, a lot of Worlds skins blur together after a while. You get the team colors slapped onto champion models, maybe some logo particles, and call it a day. The iG set breaks that pattern. The black and silver color scheme runs through every single skin in the line, and it actually looks premium. Clean lines, dark tones, white accents on abilities. Feels more like a luxury brand collab than a tournament celebration.
The shared VFX tie is subtle but its there. Every skin in the set uses these crisp white-blue particle effects on abilities. Not overdone, not flashy for the sake of being flashy. Just clean energy trails and impact effects that read well on the Rift without cluttering your screen during teamfights. I appreciate that restraint because some Worlds sets go way too hard on the team branding and end up looking like walking billboards.
Splash arts deserve a mention too. The whole batch got this dramatic black background treatment with the champions posed in iG jerseys or themed outfits. Real talk though, the splashes carry a confidence that matches the team's playstyle. TheShy's Fiora splash in particular has that "I will solo kill you under your own tower" energy that defined his entire career. (Random aside: I had the iG Fiora splash as my desktop wallpaper for like six months after release.)
Compared to something like the 2017 Samsung Galaxy skins or the 2016 SKT set, the iG line punches above its weight visually. The monochrome palette gives it a timeless quality. Some Worlds skins look dated after two or three seasons. These still feel current. The only real competition for best-looking Worlds batch might be the 2022 DRX skins, but that's a conversation for another day.
Best World Champions 2018 Skins
iG Irelia sits at the top for me and I dont think it's particularly close. Irelia's kit is built for flashy outplays and the iG skin amplifies that. The blade VFX on her Q resets leave these white trails across the screen that make highlight clips look incredible. Been spamming this in Diamond whenever Irelia is meta and the skin just feels smooth. Something about the auto attack animations with the dark blades hitting minions for cs. Satisfying.
Second pick is iG Kai'Sa. Could be wrong here but I think this is still one of Kai'Sa's best skins even with all the options she has now. The white evolve particles are clean and the ult dash effect looks great. My ADC duo ran this skin for maybe 150 games one season and I never got tired of seeing it. The evolved Q missiles in particular stand out during late-game teamfights when she's shredding the backline.
iG LeBlanc takes third. LeBlanc is one of those champions where skin quality varies wildly and the iG version delivers. The chain VFX on her E glow white against the dark model and it reads beautifully. Rookie was a monster on LeBlanc during Worlds so this skin carries extra weight for anyone who watched that tournament. Not sure if it's just me but landing a chain return on this skin feels more impactful than on base.
iG Fiora is right behind. The white riposte effect on her W is chef's kiss. TheShy made Fiora look unfair during that Worlds run and the skin captures that energy. Lock this in for splitpush games and you feel like you're channeling peak TheShy. Slight bias maybe because I watched him solo kill everyone that tournament.
iG Camille rounds out my top five. Camille's geometric kit works well with the black and white theme. The hookshot trails and ult cage look sharp. Solid skin that doesn't reinvent the wheel but executes cleanly on a champion who benefits from crisp visual design.
Champion Roster and Thematic Fit
Six champions total: LeBlanc, Irelia, Fiora, Kai'Sa, Camille, and Rakan. Kinda feels like this roster was built for mechanical highlight plays and honestly that tracks with how iG played. Every single champion in this line is a high-skill-ceiling pick that rewards aggressive play.
Irelia and Fiora make the most sense thematically. Both are duelists who want to dive in and outplay, which was literally iG's identity. TheShy picking Fiora and JackeyLove on Kai'Sa felt inevitable. These champions just fit the team's playstyle so naturally that the skins feel authentic rather than forced.
LeBlanc for Rookie was a no-brainer. Might be overthinking it but LeBlanc's deceptive kit mirrors Rookie's mid lane style perfectly. He'd bait you into thinking you had a kill and then blow you up pre-6 with ignite. The skin honors that.
Rakan for Baolan is the one that gets the least attention, which makes sense given Baolan wasnt the star of the roster. But Rakan's engage potential still fits the team's all-in mentality. Fair skin, just overshadowed by the carries.
Camille for TheShy's second pick rounds things out. (Sidebar for top lane mains specifically: TheShy playing both Fiora and Camille at that level during Worlds was genuinely terrifying to watch.) Six champions is a standard Worlds roster and every slot feels earned here. No wasted picks.
Tier and Price Breakdown
All six skins sit at Epic tier, all priced at 1350 RP. No Legendary, no Prestige, no budget options. Straight across the board consistency. This is actually refreshing because some Worlds batches have that one skin that feels like it got less attention than the others.
1350 RP for each means you're looking at 8100 RP if you want the complete set. Not cheap. But individually each skin delivers solid value for the price point. New models, new VFX, new recall animations. Standard Epic package but executed well.
Real talk though, the lack of a Legendary in this set is the one thing holding it back. Imagine iG Irelia with new voice lines referencing TheShy's playstyle or iG Kai'Sa with a unique VO. That would have pushed this line from great to legendary status. But Riot keeps Worlds skins at Epic tier consistently so it is what it is. For 1350 RP each, you're getting a clean skin that commemorates one of the most dominant Worlds performances in LoL history. Hard to complain about that.
Season 9 I think or maybe late season 8 depending on when you bought them. Either way these skins have been in the shop rotation since 2019. Three years of ranked games with iG Irelia and the particles still look modern. That's rare for an Epic skin from that era.
How many World Champions 2018 skins are there?
Six skins total in the iG Worlds set. One for each starting roster member: iG LeBlanc, iG Irelia, iG Fiora, iG Kai'Sa, iG Camille, and iG Rakan. All dropped in 2019 after Invictus Gaming won Worlds 2018 in Korea. Standard five-player roster plus one extra pick for TheShy's Camille. Clean batch, no filler.
What is the best World Champions 2018 skin?
iG Irelia for me, no contest. The blade VFX on Q resets look incredible and the skin just feels smooth in ranked. iG Kai'Sa is a close second, especially with evolved abilities. Could be wrong here but I think iG Irelia is genuinely one of Irelia's top three skins overall even counting everything released since.
Which champions have World Champions 2018 skins?
LeBlanc (Rookie), Irelia (TheShy), Fiora (TheShy), Kai'Sa (JackeyLove), Camille (TheShy), and Rakan (Baolan). Heavy top and mid focus which makes sense given iG's carry threats. TheShy actually got two skins in this set, Fiora and Camille, because he played both at Worlds.
Does World Champions 2018 have Legendary skins?
Nope. All six are Epic tier at 1350 RP each. Riot keeps Worlds skins at Epic consistently across every year. Not gonna lie, an iG Irelia Legendary with custom voice lines would have been insane but that's just not how Worlds skin releases work. Still solid Epics though.
When did the World Champions 2018 skinline release?
The full iG set dropped in 2019, roughly six months after Invictus Gaming won Worlds 2018. Standard timeline for Worlds skins. Riot usually takes about half a year to design, model, and ship the championship set. They hit the shop mid-season 9 if I remember right.
Are World Champions 2018 skins worth buying?
If you main any of the six champions, absolutely. 1350 RP each is fair for what you get. iG Irelia and iG Kai'Sa specifically offer great value with clean VFX that still look modern. The black-and-white aesthetic ages well. Might skip iG Rakan unless you're an iG fan specifically but the rest are solid pickups.
Do World Champions 2018 skins have chromas?
No chromas for any of the iG skins. Worlds skins generally don't get chroma treatment since the whole point is representing the team's actual branding. The black and silver iG colors are locked in. You get what you get and honestly the base color scheme is strong enough that chromas aren't needed.
Will Riot make more World Champions 2018 skins?
No. Worlds skin sets are locked to the winning team's roster and released once. The iG 2018 set with six skins is complete and final. Riot doesn't go back and add champions to old Worlds batches. What you see is what you get. Each year's champion gets their own separate set.
