Snow Day Skins
All 7 skins in the Snow Day skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Snow Day skin in League of Legends.
Snow Day is one of those skinlines that just hits different when December rolls around. Not gonna lie, I look forward to these skins every year even though Riot stopped making them after 2016. The whole concept is simple: champions having a snowball fight, building snowmen, wearing winter gear. No dark lore, no cosmic stakes. Just vibes. I've been playing since season 2 and the Snow Day skins still get locked in during the winter months in my Diamond games. Something about pelting the enemy team with snowballs instead of actual abilities makes ranked feel less tilting.

What Makes Snow Day Stand Out from Other Winter Lines
Riot has like three or four winter-themed skinlines at this point. Snowdown Showdown, Winter Wonder, Winterblessed, Snow Day. They overlap a lot and honestly I think most people cant tell the difference half the time. But Snow Day has a specific thing going for it: the playful angle.
Winter Wonder goes for the elegant ice aesthetic. Winterblessed leans into that high-fantasy frost vibe. Snow Day? Snow Day is literally champions ditching their weapons for snowball launchers and shovels. The color palette across all seven skins stays consistent: soft whites, powder blues, pops of red and orange from scarves and winter gear. The splash arts feel like a shared universe where these champions all showed up to the same neighborhood snowball fight.
Could be wrong here but I think the VFX work is what ties the line together best. Every Snow Day skin replaces ability particles with snow and ice effects. Ziggs throws snowballs. Syndra orbits snowballs. Graves shoots a wall of snow. The consistency is clean. You see a Snow Day skin in your game and you immediately know what line it belongs to, no squinting at the loading screen required.
Compare that to something like the Lunar Revel skins where every year the aesthetic shifts slightly and you get this inconsistent mashup. Snow Day kept it tight across all seven releases between 2012 and 2016. Four years, seven skins, one cohesive vision. Respect.
The splash arts deserve a mention too. They share this warm, almost Pixar-like quality. Bright lighting, exaggerated expressions, snowy backgrounds. Bard building a snowman. Gnar throwing a massive snowball. These splashes feel like they belong in a holiday card, not a MOBA. (Random aside: I used the Snow Day Bard splash as my Discord avatar for like two years straight.)
Best Snow Day Skins Worth Locking In
Seven skins total in the Snow Day line, ranging from 975 to 1350 RP. Not a single Legendary in the bunch, which is kinda disappointing but also means the whole collection is accessible price-wise. Here's my take on the standouts after years of playing with and against them.
Snow Day Bard is the crown jewel. Full stop. Released December 2016 at 1350 RP and it's probably the best Bard skin period, or at least top two with Astronaut. The chimes become little presents scattered across the Rift. His meeps turn into penguins. Penguins. The magical journey portal looks like a snow tunnel and the ult drops a giant snowglobe on your enemies. Been spamming this in Diamond during December for years and the penguin meeps never get old. Every Bard one-trick I know has this skin.
Not sure if it's just me but Snow Day Syndra might be the most visually clean skin in the line. Her dark spheres become snowballs and the contrast against Summoner's Rift is actually really readable in teamfights. At 1350 RP for an Epic tier skin, the value is solid. The scatter the weak particles look crisp and the ult dumping six snowballs into someone's face is satisfying every single time. Played maybe 30 games of Syndra mid last season with this skin specifically.
Snow Day Graves rounds out the Epic trio at 1350 RP. Graves with a shovel instead of a shotgun. The auto attack animation where he scoops snow and flings it at people is hilarious. His smoke screen becomes a snowstorm and the buckshot sprays snow chunks. Real talk though, the skin feels slightly dated compared to newer Graves skins but the personality carries it hard.
The Standard tier skins at 975 RP are solid budget picks. Snow Day Singed has a snowblower for his poison trail which is peak comedy in top lane. Malzahar gets snow-themed voidlings that look like little ice creatures. Ziggs is honestly a natural fit since he already throws bombs and replacing them with snowballs feels obvious in the best way.
Gnar is the one I have the least strong feelings about. Released 2015, Standard tier, 975 RP. The mega Gnar transformation into a yeti-like snow creature is cute but the base form doesnt change enough to justify over his other skins. Skip it unless you're collecting the full Snow Day set.
The Champion Roster and Who's Missing
Seven champions in Snow Day: Singed, Malzahar, Graves, Ziggs, Syndra, Gnar, and Bard. Kinda feels like Riot specifically picked champions whose kits translate well to snow themes. Ziggs throws projectiles that become snowballs. Syndra has orbs that become snowballs. Graves has a gun that becomes a snow shovel. The pattern is clear: they went for champions with visible, transformable abilities.
Bard is the perfect Snow Day champion. His whole kit is whimsical already and the winter theme amplifies that energy. The chimes as presents, meeps as penguins, journey as a snow tunnel. Everything clicks. Singed is an underrated pick too, the snowblower concept for his poison trail is genius game design on the cosmetic side.
Malzahar works surprisingly well. His voidlings as little snow creatures, the space aids becoming frost particles. Might be overthinking it but I think mid-lane mages generally fit winter themes better than most classes because their spell effects are so visible.
Now who's missing. I've thought about this during long queue times at 2 AM more than I should admit. Nunu and Willump is the most obvious choice Riot never pulled the trigger on. A boy and his yeti? In a snowball fight skinline? That's free real estate. (Sidebar: yes I know Nunu already has winter skins but Snow Day Nunu with Willump building snowmen would print money.) Ornn is another one, a blacksmith forging snow forts instead of items. Braum with a frozen door as his shield throwing snowballs with his Q. The support and tank roster feels underrepresented in general.
Sadly the line hasn't gotten a new skin since 2016. Six years of nothing and counting. Riot moved on to Winterblessed as their premium winter line which is fine but Snow Day had a charm that the newer stuff doesn't replicate.
Tier and Price Breakdown
The Snow Day line splits clean: four Standard skins at 975 RP and three Epics at 1350 RP. No Legendaries, no Mythics, no Ultimates. This is a mid-range skinline through and through.
The Epics carry the line. Bard, Syndra, and Graves all released in 2015-2016 and benefit from better VFX work and more detailed model changes. The 1350 RP price point feels fair for all three, with Bard being genuinely underpriced for the quality you get. That skin could pass for a budget Legendary with the amount of particle changes.
The Standards from 2012-2014 show their age more. Singed and Malzahar especially look dated compared to modern 975 RP releases. They still have charm but you're buying personality not polish. Ziggs holds up better because his base model is simple enough that the snow reskin reads cleanly even by today's standards.
Total cost to collect all seven: 7,275 RP. Thats roughly $50 USD if you buy RP during a bonus event. For a complete skinline collection that's pretty reasonable. Most skinlines with 7+ skins will run you way more because they include Legendaries. Snow Day stays affordable, which honestly fits the casual winter fun vibe of the whole line.
Fair warning: four of these skins might be in the Legacy vault depending on when you're reading this. Riot rotates the Snowdown and winter skins in and out of the shop seasonally, so you might need to wait until November or December to grab them. Or get lucky with Hextech crafting. I rolled Snow Day Malzahar from a chest back in season 10 I think, was a nice surprise during a July ranked grind.
Where Snow Day Fits in Riot's Winter Lineup
Riot has four distinct winter skinlines at this point. Snow Day (2012-2016), Snowdown Showdown (scattered releases), Winter Wonder (2013-2018), and Winterblessed (2022+). They all compete for the same seasonal slot but target different aesthetics.
Snow Day is the casual option. Snowball fights and winter gear. Winter Wonder is the elegant one with ice crystals and frozen beauty. Winterblessed went for the premium high-fantasy frost knight angle. Snowdown Showdown is kind of the catch-all holiday bucket.
Not gonna lie, I think Snow Day has the most personality of the bunch. Winterblessed skins look gorgeous but they take themselves seriously. Snow Day Bard throwing presents around the map while penguin meeps waddle after enemies? That's the kind of thing that makes me actually enjoy playing support in ranked. The lighthearted energy translates into gameplay feel in a way that "elegant ice queen Syndra" just doesn't.
The problem is Riot clearly decided Winterblessed is the future. Higher tier skins, more champions, bigger events. Snow Day got shelved after 2016 and there's been zero indication it's coming back. Seven skins might be all we ever get. Which makes the existing ones feel a bit more special honestly. Like a closed collection you either have or you don't.
Been maining support this season and Snow Day Bard is still my go-to December lock-in. Last Tuesday I had a game where the enemy Lux had Winterblessed and I had Snow Day Bard and honestly the vibes were immaculate. Two winter skins poke-fighting in bot lane while our junglers were busy inting at Rift Herald. Peak League experience right there.
Snow Day Skins: Frequently Asked Questions
How many Snow Day skins are there?
Seven Snow Day skins total. Singed, Malzahar, Graves, Ziggs, Syndra, Gnar, and Bard. The line ran from 2012 to 2016 and hasn't gotten a new addition since. Kinda feels like Riot moved on but the existing seven still hold up, especially the three Epics from 2015-2016.
What is the best Snow Day skin?
Snow Day Bard and it's not close. Penguin meeps, present chimes, snowglobe ult. The skin transforms every part of his kit and has more personality than most Legendary skins at half the price. Syndra is a strong second pick if you play mid lane. Both are 1350 RP Epics that punch above their weight.
Which champions have Snow Day skins?
Singed, Malzahar, Graves, Ziggs, Syndra, Gnar, and Bard. Mostly mages and ranged champions whose abilities translate well into snowball and winter VFX. Bard is the standout thematic fit. Been saying for years Nunu and Willump should get one but Riot seems to have shelved the line.
Does Snow Day have Legendary skins?
No Legendaries in the Snow Day line. Three Epics at 1350 RP (Bard, Syndra, Graves) and four Standards at 975 RP (Singed, Malzahar, Ziggs, Gnar). The whole collection stays in the mid-range price bracket. Bard honestly feels like it should have been a Legendary given how much changes.
When did the Snow Day skinline release?
First Snow Day skin was Singed back in 2012. The line got new additions through 2016 with Bard being the last release. Four years of winter content then Riot moved on to other seasonal lines like Winterblessed. Could be wrong but I think the 2015-2016 batch with Bard, Syndra, and Graves was the peak.
Are Snow Day skins worth buying?
The three Epics are solid buys if you play those champions. Bard especially is a must-own for support mains. The Standards show their age but Singed's snowblower concept is still funny enough to justify 975 RP. Whole collection runs about 7,275 RP which is reasonable for seven skins. Worth it for the December ranked vibes alone.
Do Snow Day skins have chromas?
Most Snow Day skins launched before chromas became standard so the older ones don't have them. Some of the later releases picked up chromas over time through Essence Emporium and event passes. Check each individual skin page for current chroma availability since Riot has added some retroactively.
Will Riot make more Snow Day skins?
Honestly? Probably not. The line hasn't seen a new skin since 2016 and Riot clearly shifted to Winterblessed as their premium winter skinline. Maybe just my experience but I think Snow Day is done unless theres a surprise revival event. Seven skins is likely the final count. Enjoy what we got.
