Gold efficiency
| Stat | Amount | Gold per point | Gold value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Health | 150 | 2.67 g | 400 g |
| Ability Haste | 5 | 50 g | 250 g |
| Total stat value | 650 g |
Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 650 ÷ 900 = 72%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

Bami’s Cinder is an epic tank component in League of Legends that costs 900 gold and gives 150 Health, 5 Ability Haste and the Immolate passive, which burns nearby enemies with magic damage for 3 seconds after you deal or take damage, as of patch 26.21. It builds from a Ruby Crystal and a Glowing Mote, and it finishes as either Sunfire Aegis or Hollow Radiance.
What does Bami’s Cinder do?
It sets you on fire, in the good way. Immolate ticks magic damage on every enemy standing next to you for 3 seconds after any damage goes in or out, and in a minion wave that means the whole wave takes damage while you stand there doing nothing special.
That burn is the reason tanks with no wave clear buy it first. A Sion or a Zac who picks it up on the first back suddenly pushes waves on a timer, and the jungle clear speeds up as well because camps sit inside the burn radius the entire time (the jungle is where the item quietly shines, honestly). The 150 Health is a modest bonus, and the 5 Ability Haste is a detail you only notice on champions with long cooldowns.
Why is it only 72% gold efficient?
Because the passive carries most of the price. Priced at the Ruby Crystal rate of 2.67 gold per point, the Health comes to 400 gold, the Haste adds 250 gold at the Glowing Mote rate, and the two together reach 650 gold against a 900 gold cost.
The gap is what you pay for Immolate. Is it worth it? For a champion who cannot clear a wave without it, yes, every time, since the burn replaces an ability you do not have. For a tank with built in wave clear, say Malphite or Ornn, the stats alone are weak enough that a plain Ruby Crystal plus a Cloth Armor is often the better first back. The combine cost from the two pieces is 250 gold and the sell value is 630 gold, so a late swap loses you less than you would think.
What does Bami’s Cinder build into?
Two legendaries, one per damage type.
Sunfire Aegis is the armor route at 2,800 gold, the classic pick against a team full of auto attackers. Hollow Radiance is the magic resist route, also 2,800 gold, for games where the other side runs two mages. Both keep the burn and make it stronger. Nothing is wasted. Thing is, that choice can wait. Buy the component, see how the enemy builds, and commit later.
Underneath sit a Ruby Crystal at 400 gold and a Glowing Mote at 250 gold. Most players take the Ruby Crystal first (the Mote on its own does nothing for a tank in lane) and complete the item on the back where they have 900 gold total.
Who buys it?
Tanks and juggernauts who need wave clear, plus a lot of tank junglers. Think Sion, Zac, Cho'Gath, Amumu and Rammus, champions whose kits either clear slowly or not at all.
Who skips it? Anyone who already clears fine and would rather have resistances early, and every champion that is not a tank. Bruisers in particular tend to regret it (we see this a lot on first-time Darius players), because the Health is small and the burn does not scale with Attack Damage at all. If you want a longer look at which positions pick tanks and why, the guide to LoL roles has it.
How has it changed over the years?
Quite a bit. The current version first appeared in patch 10.23 at 1,000 gold with 300 Health and no Ability Haste. The price went up to 1,100 gold in patch 10.25, came back down to 1,000 in patch 12.11, and dropped to 900 gold in patch 14.10, the same patch that cut the Health to 200 and added the 5 Haste. Patch 14.19 then trimmed the Health again, down to 150.
So the trend is clear. Riot keeps shaving the raw stats and leaving the burn alone, which tells you what the item is really about. For what it’s worth, the oldest version had twice the Health of today’s, and it was still bought for Immolate rather than for the stat line. Sure, Bami’s Cinder is a small purchase, but the current prices for every tank item, this one included, sit in our LoL items database.
