Evelynn ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
An Evelynn ARAM build is Ability Power burst on a champion the mode helps on every line: Evelynn deals 110% damage, takes 90% damage and has 120% Tenacity on the Howling Abyss. An assassin with no jungle to hide in needs the help, and Last Caress into a clumped team pays it back, so you build to kill one target in a single pass and leave.
Item picks are ours, from the patch 26.21 data. Win rates stayed out of it.

How is Evelynn changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Evelynn |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 110% |
| Damage taken | 90% |
| Tenacity | 120% |
Evelynn deals 110% damage, takes 90% damage and carries 120% Tenacity in ARAM, which is three buffs on a champion most people associate with the jungle. Why so generous? Because the Howling Abyss removes the thing her kit is built on. Demon Shade grants Camouflage out of combat after level 6, and on a single lane with no jungle to disappear into, “out of combat” is a rare state and the approach it enables is mostly gone. What’s left is a 125-range assassin who has to walk up in view of five people, and the modifiers exist so that walk is survivable and the arrival hurts. To be fair, a tenth more damage on a burst champion is not a small thing. It’s the difference between a target left barely alive and a kill.
Why does Evelynn fit the Howling Abyss?
Less than you’d think, and more than the modifiers imply. Riot’s data for patch 26.21:
- Demon Shade (passive): out of combat she heals when low on Health, and after level 6 she gains Camouflage.
- Hate Spike (Q): a Lasher strike on the first unit hit, then a line of spikes at nearby foes a few times. Cooldown 4 seconds.
- Allure (W): a curse; her next attack or spell after a delay charms the target and reduces their Magic Resist. Cooldown 15/14/13/12/11.
- Whiplash (E): a whip that damages, then grants Move Speed for a short time. Cooldown 8.
- Last Caress (R): briefly untargetable, she decimates the area in front of her and warps backwards a long distance. Cooldown 120/100/80.
The approach is weaker here. Camouflage needs her out of combat, and the Abyss keeps everyone in combat, so the walk from the fountain is a walk everyone watches. The payoff is stronger (much stronger). Last Caress decimates an area in front of her, and on a map where five enemies stand in one area that is five people hit by an ultimate designed for one, followed by a warp backwards that puts her out of the fight entirely. Hate Spike’s line of spikes hits “nearby foes”, plural, which on the Abyss is most of them. Where does it go wrong? She has 125 range, no dash and one escape on a 120 second cooldown at rank 1, which means a wasted Last Caress is two minutes of being a melee mage with a whip (and not much else).
What should an Evelynn ARAM build focus on?
Burst, Magic Penetration and the Move Speed to arrive before someone notices, because she gets one pass per fight and the pass has to end in a corpse. Four items from the current patch.
Stormsurge is the opening item and it suits her perfectly: 90 Ability Power, 15 Magic Penetration and 6% Move Speed. Stormraider marks a champion once you’ve dealt 25% of their maximum Health within 2.5 seconds, and Squall then deals magic damage after 2 seconds, spreading to nearby enemies if the target dies first. An assassin’s whole job is dealing a quarter of someone’s Health inside 2.5 seconds, so the mark triggers on nearly every pass, and the spread is a bonus the Abyss hands out for free (people stand close here).
Lich Bane comes next, for the rhythm of her combo. Its numbers are 100 Ability Power, 6% Move Speed and 10 Ability Haste, but Spellblade is why it’s here: bonus magic damage On-Hit on the first attack after each ability. Hate Spike is on a 4 second cooldown. Cast, swing, cast, swing: every swing in that chain carries Spellblade, which turns a champion whose Q is spammable into a champion whose attacks hurt. Honestly, the Move Speed is half the reason too; two items in and she’s already faster than the people she’s hunting.
Shadowflame is third: 110 Ability Power and 15 Magic Penetration, with Cinderbloom making magic and true damage critically strike enemies below 40% Health for 20% increased damage. Last Caress is an execute by design, and Cinderbloom makes everything before it an execute too. The catch is that Shadowflame does nothing for survival, so this is the point in the build where picking the right target matters more than the numbers. Pick first, press second.
Fourth is Rabadon’s Deathcap, 130 Ability Power plus Magical Opus raising total Ability Power by 30%, because on a champion who does one thing, the item that makes that one thing bigger wins. For boots, Sorcerer’s Shoes: 12 Magic Penetration on top of 45 Move Speed. If the enemy team has stacked Magic Resist, Void Staff’s 40% Magic Penetration replaces Shadowflame, not the Deathcap.
How do you play Evelynn on the Howling Abyss?
- Allure from the back, then wait. The curse charms on your next attack or spell after a delay, so cast it early and let the delay run while you close in.
- Hate Spike through the clump. The line of spikes hits nearby foes, and on the Abyss “nearby” is three or four champions.
- Last Caress forward, warp back. It decimates the area in front and then warps you backwards a long distance, so aim it so the warp lands behind your own team.
- Don’t wait for Camouflage. It needs you out of combat, and out of combat is rare here; use the side bushes instead.
- Max Q. Hate Spike is already a 4 second cooldown at every rank, so the rank-ups are pure damage, and damage is the job.
How do shopping and Mark change the game on the Howling Abyss?
With no recall, the shop opens for you at the start and after every death, and the Health relics along the lane do the healing in between. Demon Shade also heals her when she’s low and out of combat, which on this map is an occasional luxury rather than a plan. For Evelynn that makes the buy order about reaching Stormsurge intact: a Needlessly Large Rod first if you can afford it, since the passive needs the burst to trigger at all, and Sorcerer’s Shoes early because the walk is the whole problem. In practice she falls behind if she dies before the first item, so the first few fights are spent at the back, throwing Hate Spike at whoever steps up (somebody always does).
Mark is ARAM’s snowball: hit a champion with it and you can dash to them. You choose spells before loading; they don’t change. On an assassin with 125 range and no dash, the snowball is the engage the kit never had, and the combo writes itself: Allure, snowball, dash, Hate Spike, attack, Last Caress, warp out. Funny enough, the 120% Tenacity is what makes that chain survivable, since the stun waiting for her on arrival runs shorter than it would on the Rift, and the 90% damage taken does the rest.
Is Evelynn good in ARAM?
Yes, with a different job than she has in the jungle. 110% damage, 90% damage taken and 120% Tenacity turn a stealth assassin into a burst mage who happens to have a warp, and Last Caress into a grouped team is worth more than any ambush. What she can’t do is fight twice, since the pattern is one pass, one kill, one warp, and then a 120 second wait for the next.
The junglers who ruin her on the Rift are in the Evelynn counters guide, though half their tricks matter less on a map where she can’t go out of combat anyway. Our guide to LoL roles explains what the jungle role normally expects of her. The item database lists every item here with its patch history, and the Evelynn skins page holds the cosmetics.
Put simply: curse first, arrive second, spike and swing, ult the clump, warp home. That’s the Evelynn ARAM build doing exactly one thing well. Then you respawn, buy the next Ability Power piece, and pick the next target.
FAQ
Is Evelynn buffed in ARAM?
Yes, three ways. The League of Legends Wiki’s champion data for patch 26.21 gives her 110% damage dealt, 90% damage taken and 120% Tenacity on the Howling Abyss.
What items does the Evelynn ARAM build use?
Stormsurge, Lich Bane, Shadowflame and Rabadon’s Deathcap with Sorcerer’s Shoes, swapping Shadowflame for Void Staff against heavy Magic Resist.
Does Camouflage work on the Howling Abyss?
It exists, but it needs Evelynn out of combat after level 6, and on a single lane with constant fighting that state is rare. Plan around Last Caress instead.
How does Last Caress work in ARAM?
The same as elsewhere: she briefly goes untargetable, decimates the area in front of her and warps backwards a long distance. On the Abyss the area usually contains several champions.
Is this build based on win rates?
No. We used Evelynn’s patch 26.21 ability text and the item data, and that’s the full list of sources.
