You can play Marvel Rivals on PC (Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S. It is free to play on all of them, and it supports cross-platform play. Cloud play through GeForce Now is also an option. It isn’t available on Xbox One, the original Nintendo Switch, or mobile.
The list has grown since launch. Marvel Rivals came out on December 6, 2024 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and NetEase added the PS4 version on September 12, 2025, with Season 4. Here’s every option, what each one needs, and where you can’t play it yet.

One thing that surprises people: on PC you can choose between Steam and Epic. It’s the same game either way. Pick the store where your friends list lives, because adding friends through the launcher is the easiest way to find each other.
Can you play Marvel Rivals on PC?
Yes, through Steam or the Epic Games Store, for free. Download the client, sign in, and play.
PC gets the most settings: frame rate caps, graphics presets, upscaling options and full keybinding control. Honestly, if you’re choosing a platform for ranked from scratch, a decent PC with a high-refresh monitor is the strongest setup, simply because frame rate and mouse aim both matter so much in a fast shooter.
Laptops work too, as long as the GPU is up to it. Check the official system requirements on the store page before downloading, since the install is large and a weak integrated GPU will struggle in big team fights.
Can you play Marvel Rivals on PS5 and PS4?
Yes on both. PS5 has had it since launch; PS4 since September 12, 2025. Per NetEase’s official specs, a base PS4 runs it at 1080p and 30 FPS and a PS4 Pro at 1440p and 60 FPS, with 70 GB of free space needed.
The PS5 version is the better console experience: higher frame rates, faster loading from the SSD, and DualSense support. The PS4 port is a good way in if that’s what you have, with a few limits, like the Marvel Zombies PvE event mode that skipped PS4 for performance reasons. Do you need PS Plus? No. Free-to-play games on PlayStation can be played online without a subscription.
Moving from PS4 to PS5 later is painless, too. You sign in with the same PlayStation account on the new console, download the free PS5 version, and carry on with your progress, so starting on the older console doesn’t lock you into it.
Can you play Marvel Rivals on Xbox?
On Xbox Series X and Series S, yes. On Xbox One, no, because NetEase never released a version for Microsoft’s previous console generation.
The Series S is the lower-powered of the two, so expect lower resolution there than on the Series X, but the game is the same. Thing is, Xbox also has its own privacy settings for voice chat with players on other platforms, and they’re the most common reason Xbox players can’t hear their PC or PlayStation teammates. Unlike some other free-to-play games on Xbox, online play in a free title doesn’t need Game Pass Core or Ultimate either. That’s Microsoft’s policy for free-to-play games, and it applies here.
Is Marvel Rivals on Nintendo Switch or mobile?
Not on the original Switch or on mobile. The game’s director, Thaddeus Sasser, said there were no discussions about bringing it to those devices.
The Switch 2 is a different story. Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo told IGN that a Switch 2 version is being worked on (“We will do it”). At the time of writing we couldn’t confirm a release date from an official source, so treat any date you see elsewhere with caution and check the official Marvel Rivals channels before buying anything for it.
And mobile? Look, a 6v6 hero shooter with this many effects on screen is a tough fit for phones. Cloud gaming is the closest thing for now: services like GeForce Now stream the PC version to devices that couldn’t run it locally, as long as your connection is fast and stable (and your thumbs are patient).
Can you play Marvel Rivals on a Mac or Steam Deck?
There’s no native Mac version; the PC release is for Windows. Cloud gaming is the practical route on a Mac. For Steam Deck, check the Steam store page, which shows Valve’s compatibility rating for the handheld.
That rating can change after updates, so look at it on the day you plan to play rather than trusting an old forum post. Anti-cheat and launcher changes are the usual reasons a game’s handheld status moves up or down. And on a Mac with Apple Silicon, GeForce Now runs in the browser or its own app, which is far simpler than trying to make a Windows game run through compatibility tools that the game’s anti-cheat may not accept anyway.
How do you download Marvel Rivals on each platform?
Search for it in your platform’s store and press the free download button. There’s no paid edition you need to pick.
