Everything you need to know about Marvel Rivals ranks, the competitive mode, and Season 2 rewards.
How Do Marvel Rivals Ranks Work?
Marvel Rivals is not just about hopping into a shooter for a casual game. Eventually, the drive for a competitive challenge kicks in. Like many other games, Marvel Rivals offers exclusive rewards tied to its ranked mode, encouraging players to prove their skills.
If you’ve been perfecting your gameplay with your favorite Marvel Rivals characters and keeping an eye on the Marvel Rivals tier list, now’s the time to dive into the game’s most intense challenge. In this guide, we’ll break down the Marvel Rivals ranks, explain the competitive mode, and show you the skins you can earn by climbing the ranks.
Marvel Rivals Ranks: A Breakdown of Rank Icons
Here are the nine Marvel Rivals ranks:
Bronze (Tier III-I)
Silver (Tier III-I)
Gold (Tier III-I)
Platinum (Tier III-I)
Diamond (Tier III-I)
Grandmaster (Tier III-I)
Celestial (Tier III-I)
Eternity
One Above All
Each rank up to Eternity has three tiers. To advance, you’ll need 100 ranked points per tier (300 points for a full rank leap). Once you reach Celestial, the grind continues as you rack up points. The top 500 players at the end of the season earn the prestigious “One Above All” rank, a system similar to Overwatch 2.
Marvel Rivals Rank Distribution: The Nine Ranked Emblems
Rank distribution provides insight into your performance relative to the rest of the player base. As the season progresses, the distribution will change, but here’s the breakdown for June 2025:
Bronze: 25.9%
Silver: 10.6%
Gold: 12.7%
Platinum: 13.5%
Diamond: 14.8%
Grandmaster: 14.4%
Celestial: 6.4%
Eternity & One Above All: 1.7%

At the end of Season 1.5, an official distribution chart was released. Players with fewer than five competitive matches were excluded, eliminating the imbalance caused by casual players briefly entering the ranked scene.
Marvel Rivals Competitive Mode Explained
Marvel Rivals’ ranked mode takes the familiar Quickplay format and adds competitive rules. To start, you need to reach Level 10. But the real fun begins once you’re in the higher ranks.
Chrono Shield: If you go on a losing streak, you’ll earn a Chrono Shield, which prevents you from being demoted. It recharges after use. The higher your rank, the more losses you can afford before you get the shield.
Rank Decay: In Celestial rank, your points start to decay if you don’t queue for a certain amount of time.
Hero Bans: From Diamond III onward, each team can ban two heroes, preventing overpowering picks from ruining the fun.
Rank Restrictions: Players in Gold and below can team up freely, while those in higher ranks have stricter limits on who they can queue with based on rank differences.
