Worth calling out: the NA, BR, and LATAM shards form a connected cluster. If you move between any of these three, all your data comes along, including season progress, match history, and purchase records. Moving between any other shards wipes your ranked progress and match history.

Account Region Change vs Paid LoL Transfer

People confuse these constantly, and honestly the naming doesn’t make it easy to tell them apart.

An RoR change flips the geographic flag on your entire profile. Every game updates at once. It’s free. You go through support. And they only approve it if you actually relocated to a different country.

A paid LoL/TFT transfer is something completely different. It grabs your League and TFT data and drops it on another server. Switching Region in Valorant: How It Differs

Valorant handles this differently from LoL. There’s no paid in-client button. You have two real options.

Option 1: Use the RoR change tool. Same process described above. Go to the Valorant support page, log in, check eligibility. If you’ve genuinely moved, this works. Your skins, agents, and purchased items carry over. Ranked data and match history get wiped.

Option 2: Start fresh on a different shard. Say your friends play on EU but you’re NA. You didn’t actually move anywhere. In that case, your only real play is to make a brand new profile while your IP (or VPN) is in that area. You start at zero though. No skins, no agents besides the free ones, nothing.

2XKO: Watch Out Before Switching

Riot added a warning in 2025 that changing your assigned location may wipe your 2XKO progression entirely. The fighting game is still relatively new and its handling of location data isn’t fully aligned with the rest of the ecosystem yet.

If you play 2XKO and are thinking about switching, contact support directly with a ticket before using the automated tool. They can sometimes handle it in a way that preserves your 2XKO progress, but only if you ask first. Once the change goes through, there’s no rollback.

Does a VPN Help Switch Regions?
