Warden Jax is a 750 RP skin from September 30, 2015 that puts the Grandmaster at Arms in heavy plate armor. Sixmorevodka Studio nailed the splash showing Jax in full warden gear with his lamppost replaced by a heavy mace-like weapon. The Warden skinline was a small two-champion release, Jax and Sivir, with a medieval fortress guard theme. Not flashy. Not trying to be. Just a different look at a budget price. Thing is, for Jax specifically the concept of a heavily armored guard works really well because the champ already has that “will fight anyone” energy.
Armored Jax at a budget price
The model gives Jax heavy plate armor in blue-grey tones with some gold trim detailing around the edges. The lamppost weapon is swapped for something that looks like a proper war mace or flanged weapon. More military, less “I grabbed a random object to fight with.” The helmet redesign is probably the best part, it gives Jax this faceless fortress guardian look that reads well in lane. The shoulder plates are bulky and the overall silhouette is wider than base Jax which makes him feel more imposing when you are splitpushing top side.
No new VFX on abilities. Leap Strike on Q jumps with base particles. Empower on W has the same auto attack enhancement glow. Counter Strike on E still shows the same dodge area and stun effect. Grandmaster’s Might on R procs with base visuals on every third hit. Voice lines stay base, Erik Braa’s Jax voice applies. No chromas. No new recall animation.
At 750 RP this sits between the 520 model-swap tier and the 975 enhanced tier. You get a noticeably different model but nothing else changes. Part of the Warden skinline. Still in the shop permanently. Played maybe 30 games with this skin back around season 8 when I was spamming Jax in Diamond and honestly it felt solid (random aside: this was back when Jax with Spear of Shojin was the most disgusting thing in top lane and Warden Jax felt thematically appropriate for how unkillable you were).
Jax has better options but this one is fine
Jax has Mecha Kingdoms at Legendary with full voice rework. God Staff Jax and Conqueror Jax at Epic with VFX changes. Prestige Empyrean at Mythic. The skin catalog is deep. Warden Jax is for people who want a different look without spending much. Could be wrong here but I think the armored design has a practical military vibe that some players prefer over the flashier options. Seen a few Jax one-tricks in my ranked games running this over more expensive skins which tells you something about the model quality. At 750 RP its hard to complain about value. You get what you pay for and what you pay for is a nice set of armor on a champion who normally fights with a lamppost. Fair price for the package.
