Dark Star Shaco

Shaco is already a nightmare to play against. Dark Star Shaco makes him look the part. June 13, 2019 release and the concept is Shaco as a cosmic horror jester, which is redundant because regular Shaco is already a horror jester but now with galaxies. Victor “3rdColossus” Maury did the splash. Works well for the theme. Not gonna lie, first time I saw this skin loading into a ranked game on the enemy team I knew my jungle was about to become a horror movie for the next 25 minutes.

Cosmic clown in your jungle

The model replaces Shaco’s standard jester outfit with a Dark Star entity form. Cosmic energy flowing through the body, star-cluster eyes, a dagger that looks like a condensed singularity. Deceive on Q stealths Shaco with a cosmic vanish effect and the reappearance backstab has a dark star burst. Jack In The Box on W places cosmic traps that pop out as mini Dark Star entities when triggered. The fear effect has star-themed particles.

Two-Shiv Poison on E throws a cosmic dagger with a trailing star particle. The slow on hit has a brief dark matter ripple on the target which is a nice touch. Hallucinate on R creates a Dark Star clone which is hilarious because now there are two cosmic horror jesters running at your team. Telling the clone from the real Shaco is already hard enough without both of them looking like sentient black holes. Played against one in my ranked games last month and I genuinely guessed wrong on which was real three times in one teamfight. (sidebar: I main support and Shaco players in Diamond are a different breed of psychopath regardless of skin)

Six chromas available: Ruby, Catseye, Emerald, Rose Quartz, Pearl, and one more. Emerald shifts to green cosmic which looks like a nebula clown. Could be wrong here but I think the Rose Quartz chroma might actually look cleaner than the base purple. Swaps the default color scheme to something softer that still reads as cosmic but with a pinkish tint. Voice lines stay base. Adam Harrington’s Shaco voice applies which honestly still works because that laugh is unsettling no matter what color the clown is.

At 1350 RP with 6 chromas its solid Epic value. Sits in the shop permanently. Part of the Dark Star skinline alongside Dark Star Thresh, Orianna, Jarvan, and others. The skinline has a consistent quality bar and Shaco fits right in. New recall animation has him juggling dark star orbs which is a fun detail. The whole package feels complete for an Epic tier skin.

For Shaco players who want to terrorize with style

Shaco has Arcanist and Crime City Nightmare as other strong Epic options. Dark Star gives him the cosmic horror angle that the others dont touch. Crime City goes noir, Arcanist goes magical trickster, but Dark Star goes full existential dread. Different vibes entirely.

If you play Shaco jungle and you want your boxes and clone to look like they came from the void between galaxies, this is the pick. Been seeing more Dark Star Shacos in my Diamond games this season than any of his other skins, especially after that last patch where Shaco got buffed. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The W box reveals in particular just look better on this skin than any other Shaco option and thats where most of his identity lives in teamfights anyway. Solid pickup for Shaco mains or anyone who wants to add some cosmic horror to their jungle clear rotation.
