Debonair is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for years and then Riot just decided to go all in on it in 2021. The original batch from 2013 was basically "champions in suits" and honestly thats about it. Simple concept. Clean execution. But the 2021 reboot pushed the line into this green-crystal aesthetic with way more polish on the VFX side. I've had Debonair Zed in my rotation since it dropped and the line grew on me over time. Not sure if it's just me but there's something about the formal wear plus superpowers combo that just hits right in a game full of edgy dark fantasy skins.

What Makes the Debonair Line Stand Out

The Debonair skinline runs on a pretty simple idea: champions dressed to the nines. Suits, ties, slicked back hair, cocktail party energy. The 2013 originals like Debonair Galio, Debonair Ezreal, and Debonair Vi leaned hard into that classic look. Minimal VFX changes, mostly model swaps. Think James Bond but on the Rift. The color palette was whites, blacks, and golds.

Then 2021 happened. Riot reworked the entire Debonair concept into something way more ambitious. The newer skins kept the formal wear angle but layered in this green crystalline energy. Glowing emerald particles on abilities, translucent gem effects on recalls. Massive jump in quality. Could be wrong here but I think the 2021 batch is one of the better mid-year skin drops Riot has done.

The visual signature for the rebooted Debonair skins is that green glow. Every ability has this jade-tinted VFX treatment that ties the whole line together. Its consistent across all the 2021 releases. Splash arts went from "champion in a tux" to full blown art-deco scenes with crystal chandeliers and that signature emerald lighting. (Random aside: the Debonair Brand splash is genuinely one of my favorite pieces of splash art in the entire game, been using it as my Discord banner since late 2021.)

Compared to something like Crime City Nightmare which went darker and grittier, Debonair stays classy. The skins don't try to be intimidating. They're elegant. That restraint is what makes the line work for me. You lock in Debonair Zed and theres this weird contrast between the assassin gameplay and the fancy boy aesthetic. Good energy.

The shared recall animations on the 2021 batch all feature some kind of crystal formation moment. Clean stuff. Not the flashiest recalls in the game but they fit the theme perfectly. Honestly not gonna lie, I respect when Riot commits to a visual identity across a full skinline drop instead of just slapping a theme label on random skins.

Best Debonair Skins to Pick Up

Debonair Zed is the crown jewel here. Full stop. Legendary tier at 1820 RP with new voice lines, completely reworked animations, and that green crystal VFX on every ability. The Q shurikens have this translucent jade look, his W shadow gets the crystal treatment, and the R death mark pop is genuinely one of the cleaner Zed ult animations in the game. Been spamming this in Diamond since around November 2021 and the skin still feels premium. The voice lines lean into this suave villain persona and it works. Zed mains should own this one.

Prestige Debonair Brand takes the Epic base skin and cranks the luxury up. White and gold color scheme instead of the standard green. Mythic tier so you're either getting it through Mythic Essence or crafting. The white flames look incredible in teamfights. Real talk though, the base Debonair Brand at Epic tier is also really solid. The green fire VFX on his W and R look distinct enough from every other Brand skin. Played maybe 30 games with the base version last season and the passive proc visual is chef's kiss.

Debonair LeBlanc surprised me. Kinda feels like Riot put extra attention into her animations for this line. The clone on her R has this crystal shatter effect when it pops. Clean in lane, noticeable in teamfights. The splash art caught the deceptive elegance of LeBlanc perfectly. For 1350 RP it delivers.

Debonair Master Yi is the sleeper pick. Not the flashiest skin in his collection but the meditate animation with the crystal formation around him looks great. Took this into ranked for a week straight around January 2022 and got compliments in post-game chat twice. That never happens with Yi skins.

The rest of the Epics hold up fine. Debonair Malzahar and Debonair Draven both do the theme justice. Malzahar's voidlings in little suits is a nice touch. Draven with the crystal axes fits his personality perfectly. Neither one is a must-buy but if you main either champion and want something different from the usual dark/edgy options, Debonair is a solid pivot.

Which Champions Got the Debonair Treatment

12 skins across 11 champions. Brand gets two entries because of the Prestige version. The roster splits cleanly into the 2013 originals and the 2021 reboot crew.

Galio, Ezreal, Jayce, and Vi make up the old guard from 2013. Standard tier skins, 750 RP each. Model changes only, no new particles or sounds. They're charming in a vintage way. Ezreal in a suit feels right. Jayce too, honestly, the Piltover gentleman energy was already there. Vi in formal wear is funny. Galio is the odd one out, a gargoyle in a tux is a weird image but I respect it.

The 2021 reboot brought LeBlanc, Master Yi, Brand, Leona, Malzahar, Draven, and Zed into the fold. Much stronger roster. Could be coping but I think every single one of these champions fits the Debonair concept better than the originals did. LeBlanc as a mysterious socialite. Zed as a crystal-powered assassin in a three-piece suit. Draven being Draven but fancy. These just make sense.

Who should be next? Maybe just my experience but I think Twisted Fate is the most obvious missing piece. Dude literally throws cards, the casino-adjacent energy writes itself. Jhin would also fit perfectly. The artistic assassin in formal wear? Come on. Riot leaving those two out of Debonair feels like a missed opportunity. Camille too, she's already got that high-society backstory in the lore and more.

Tier and Pricing Breakdown

The Debonair line spans from 750 RP all the way up to 1820 RP. Wide range. Four Standard skins at 750, six Epics at 1350, one Mythic (Prestige Brand through Mythic Essence), and one Legendary at 1820 for Zed. The line leans Epic-heavy which is where Riot tends to put their best value skins.

Fair warning, those four Standards from 2013 are basically just chromas by modern standards. No new VFX, no new sounds. Model swap only. They're cheap and they show it. Not bad skins, just products of their era. If you want the real Debonair experience you're looking at the 2021 releases minimum.

The Legendary Zed carries the premium end hard. Worth every RP if you play Zed. The Epics are all competitively priced at 1350 and each one delivers above-average quality for that tier. Been playing since season 5 and I think the 2021 Debonair Epics punch above their weight class compared to other 1350 skins from that same year. The VFX consistency across the line gives each individual skin more identity than it would have on its own. Thats the advantage of a strong skinline concept.

Prestige Brand sits in the Mythic tier so pricing is different. You need Mythic Essence, which means either grinding events or getting lucky with drops. The white and gold treatment makes it feel distinct enough from base Debonair Brand to justify the grind. Seen maybe two of these in my games since it came out, (sidebar: one of them was a Brand support who went 0/7 but looked incredible doing it).

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Debonair skins are there?

12 Debonair skins total across 11 champions. Brand has two since he got both the Epic base version and a Prestige variant. The line started with 4 skins back in 2013 and then Riot dropped 8 more in the 2021 reboot. Solid roster size for a skinline thats only had two release waves.

What is the best Debonair skin?

Debonair Zed. Not even close. The Legendary treatment with new voice lines, crystal VFX on every ability, and reworked animations puts it way above the rest. Been running this as my main Zed skin since release and nothing else in the line touches it. Prestige Brand is second if you can get the Mythic Essence.

Which champions have Debonair skins?

Galio, Ezreal, Jayce, Vi from the 2013 originals. LeBlanc, Master Yi, Brand, Leona, Malzahar, Draven, and Zed from the 2021 reboot. 11 champions, 12 skins. The 2021 roster is stronger overall. Might be overthinking it but I think Riot learned from the first batch and picked champions that fit the formal theme better.

Does Debonair have Legendary skins?

One Legendary: Debonair Zed at 1820 RP. Full package with new VO, animations, and that signature green crystal VFX on everything. The line also has one Mythic tier skin in Prestige Debonair Brand. Rest are Epics and Standards. Zed alone makes the Legendary slot count for the whole skinline.

When did the Debonair skinline release?

Original Debonair dropped in 2013 with Galio, Ezreal, Jayce, and Vi. Basic model-swap skins for the era. The big reboot came in 2021 with the crystal-infused aesthetic and 8 new skins. Basically two different skinlines sharing a name if you ask me. The 2021 versions are the ones worth caring about.

Are Debonair skins worth buying?

The 2021 skins? Absolutely. Debonair Zed is S-tier for Zed mains and the Epics all deliver solid value at 1350 RP. The 2013 Standards at 750 are harder to recommend unless you're a collector. They're fine but feel dated next to the rebooted versions. Stick with the newer batch and you wont be disappointed.

Do Debonair skins have chromas?

The 2021 Epic skins have chromas available. Multiple options per skin with the usual Ruby, Obsidian, Pearl suspects. The 2013 originals dont have chromas since Riot wasnt doing that back then. If you pick up any of the newer Debonair Epics, check the chroma sets. Some of them honestly look better than the base colors.

Will Riot make more Debonair skins?

No official word but the 2021 reboot did well enough that another wave isnt impossible. Riot tends to revisit skinlines that sell. Take this with a grain of salt but champions like Twisted Fate, Jhin, and Camille feel like obvious candidates if Debonair comes back. The crystal formal wear concept has room to grow for sure.
