Twisted Fate ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Twisted Fate ARAM build is burst AP around his empowered attacks: Lich Bane, Shadowflame, Rabadon’s Deathcap and Zhonya’s Hourglass, on Sorcerer’s Shoes. Pick a Card sets up the catch and Wild Cards pokes the clump. His ARAM tuning is light: damage dealt stays at 100%, and damage taken drops to 95%.
This page reads his patch 26.21 kit, not a win-rate list.

How is Twisted Fate changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Twisted Fate |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 100% |
| Damage taken | 95% |
His damage is untouched at 100%, and he takes 5% less. One small buff (and a fair one). Why? Destiny and Gate are the heart of his Summoner’s Rift game, and on a single lane there’s nowhere to Gate to that the enemy can’t already see. Losing his map play costs him a lot, so a little extra durability is Riot’s way of keeping him playable.
Is Twisted Fate useful without map play?
Yes, though he plays more like a lane mage here. His patch 26.21 kit:
- Loaded Dice (passive): 1 to 6 bonus gold on each unit he kills.
- Wild Cards (Q): three cards that damage every enemy unit they pass. Cooldown 6/5.75/5.5/5.25/5.
- Pick a Card (W): a chosen magic card that adds a bonus effect to his next attack. Cooldown 6.
- Stacked Deck (E): bonus damage every 4 attacks, plus increased Attack Speed. Cooldown 0.
- Destiny (R): reveals all enemy champions and unlocks Gate, a teleport to any spot after 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 170/140/110.
Wild Cards fans out across the lane, and on the Abyss it passes through several enemies most of the time. Pick a Card is his pick tool, and Stacked Deck adds a damage spike every fourth attack. Destiny still reveals everyone, which helps your team see a flank or a hiding assassin. Gate itself becomes a repositioning tool, a way to jump behind the enemy team or back to your tower (it still takes 1.5 seconds, so pick a safe spot). Loaded Dice keeps rolling gold on every kill, and in a mode full of minion waves that adds up (a few extra coins per wave, but still).
What should a Twisted Fate ARAM build focus on?
Ability Power and burst on one target, with a safety item. He has no dash, so Zhonya’s matters more than usual.
Lich Bane comes first. Spellblade adds bonus magic damage to his next attack after an ability, and since Pick a Card already empowers that attack, the two stack on the same hit. It also brings 100 Ability Power, 10 Ability Haste and 6% Move Speed.
Shadowflame is second. Cinderbloom lets magic and true damage critically strike enemies below 40% Health, which makes finishing low targets with Wild Cards much easier.
Rabadon’s Deathcap third: Magical Opus multiplies total Ability Power by 30% more, on top of its own big Ability Power. Honestly, every card hits harder.
Zhonya’s Hourglass closes it. Time Stop puts him in Stasis for 2.5 seconds, the only real escape a champion without a dash can buy, and it adds 50 Armor. Sorcerer’s Shoes add 12 Magic Penetration.
How do you play Twisted Fate on the Howling Abyss?
- Throw Wild Cards through the clump. Each card damages every enemy it passes through.
- Hold Pick a Card for the moment an enemy steps forward; it empowers your next attack.
- Use Destiny for vision. It reveals all enemy champions, so your team sees divers coming.
- Gate to safety or to a flank, but only where the 1.5 second delay won’t get you killed.
- Count to four attacks. Stacked Deck adds bonus damage on every fourth one.
How do no-recall shopping and Mark change the plan?
Every purchase waits for a death and a trip to the fountain. Lich Bane is the first full item, and Loaded Dice’s bonus gold helps you reach it sooner. He has no healing, so health relics on the lane are his only recovery between fights.
The Mark snowball, on a hit, lets you dash to that champion. Summoners can’t be changed after loading. On Twisted Fate, Mark gives a dash he otherwise lacks, but dashing a squishy mage forward is rarely the plan. Flash is the safer choice. In practice, his best escape is still Zhonya’s plus a teammate.
Is Twisted Fate a good pick for the Howling Abyss?
Look, he’s average. The 95% damage taken helps a bit, and Wild Cards plus Pick a Card still work, but the map takes away the Gate ganks that make him special. With a strong front line, he’s fine; against divers, it’s rough.
Facing him in mid on the Rift? See the Twisted Fate counters guide. Full stats for these items are in the League item database, and his outfits fill the Twisted Fate skins page.
Long story short, the Twisted Fate ARAM build is Lich Bane, Shadowflame, Rabadon’s Deathcap and Zhonya’s Hourglass on Sorcerer’s Shoes, with Destiny used for vision and Gate kept for safe repositioning.
