First time I saw Three Honors Akshan pop up in the loading screen I had to double-take. Wasnt expecting an honor reward skin for a champ most people associate with tilting the enemy team off the planet. Funny choice from Riot but honestly it works better than you’d think.

What the skin actually changes

Real talk though, this is a Standard tier skin so temper expectations. You get a new model and texture with the Three Honors color palette, that warm gold and white noble look. Akshan swaps his usual rogue outfit for something cleaner, more ceremonial. Think honorable warrior instead of swinging-off-walls vigilante.

No new VFX on the abilities. Your Q still looks like base Q, the E hookshot is the same animation, and the ult tracking bullets dont get any special treatment. Voice lines stay base too. Not gonna lie, for a skin you earn through the honor system rather than buying, it’s about what I expected. The model change carries the skin on its own though. Been running this in my Diamond games since around February 2024 and the gold tones read well against the Rift. Clean silhouette.

The recall is unchanged from default. Simple change – different outfit, same Akshan underneath. Could be wrong here but I think that’s fine for a reward skin. You’re not paying RP for this one so the bar is different. Played maybe 30 games with it that first month and the novelty held up longer than I figured it would.

How you get it and the Three Honors line

Three Honors Akshan released January 24, 2024. Marie Magny and West Studio handled the splash, they captured this regal energy that fits the honor theme without making Akshan look stiff. Good balance.

The Three Honors skinline is Riot’s way of rewarding players who consistently get honored. So you cant just buy this in the shop with RP. Special pricing, meaning it’s tied to the honor system. Available through that path. Kinda feels like Riot wanted to give honorable players something exclusive without going overboard on the production budget.

Three Honors already has a few other champs in the line like Shen and Malzahar. Akshan fits the vibe surprisingly well. The whole “noble protector” angle that Three Honors pushes actually lines up with his lore as a sentinel. (Random aside: my duo partner who’s an Akshan one-trick was grinding honor level 5 specifically for this skin last season around November.) No chromas available for this one which makes sense given it’s a reward skin.

Should you chase honor for this?

Verdict time. If you already main Akshan and you’re naturally honor level 5, this is a nice bonus. Free skin for playing the game and not being toxic. Can’t complain. But if you’re thinking about grinding honor specifically for Three Honors Akshan, I think there’s better Akshan skins to chase. Crystal Rose and Cyber Pop both offer way more in terms of VFX and overall feel.

The Standard tier limitations show here. No new particles, no new VO, no recall animation. The model looks good but that’s all you’re getting. For a skin that costs zero RP it’s solid. I keep it in rotation when I want something different from Crystal Rose, maybe one out of every five Akshan games at this point. Decent skin, just dont expect it to compete with his paid options. Best use case is flexing that you’re an honorable player in the loading screen, which honestly in my ranked games at 1 AM on a Tuesday feels ironic half the time.
