Pentakill III Lost Chapter Kayle - Splash, Price & Chromas

First time I saw this skin load in on my screen during a ranked game, season 11, I actually thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Kayle hits so different from the original Pentakill Kayle that it barely feels like the same skinline. The whole heavy metal angel concept just works for Kayle in a way that most of her other skins dont quite nail. Been running this as my main Kayle skin since it dropped and I keep coming back to it even after trying newer options.

What actually changes on Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Kayle

So the model itself is where Riot put the work in. Kayle gets this full dark armor set with glowing accents that shift as she evolves through her passive stages. Pre-6 she looks like a grounded metal warrior, wings folded, sword out. Not gonna lie, the pre-6 model alone is better than some champions’ base skins entirely. The armor plating has these subtle engravings that catch the light in lane.

New VFX across the board. Her Q sends out this dark energy wave with purple-red trails that read cleanly against the Rift. W heal has concert-style light effects, almost like stage pyrotechnics going off around your feet. The E on-hit particles pop with this metallic sheen. Real talk though, the R is the highlight: the whole invulnerability circle gets this massive pentagram-style effect with flames and guitar riff energy radiating outward. Dropped it on our ADC in a teamfight last week near dragon pit and my support typed “that looked insane” in chat.

New recall animation too. Kayle shreds on her sword like a guitar, which sounds corny written out but in-game it sells the fantasy completely. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the skin doesnt really need it. The visual package carries hard enough. Kinda feels like Riot knew the VFX budget was the priority here and allocated accordingly.

The Pentakill III line and how Kayle fits

Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter dropped September 9, 2021. Late into season 11 when the whole virtual band album thing was in full swing. Terence ‘Terrylefruit’ Cantal and West Studio handled the splash, and they cooked. The composition puts Kayle center frame with wings fully extended, sword raised like she’s about to drop a guitar solo from the heavens. One of the cleaner splashes in the entire Pentakill lineup honestly.

The Pentakill III: The Lost Chapter skinline was Riot’s third pass at the metal band universe. Mordekaiser, Karthus, Sona, Yorick all got their versions too. Kayle fits the thematic naturally because her whole divine judgment archetype translates perfectly into metal iconography. Angel of death with a flaming sword playing in a band? Yeah that writes itself.

This Epic tier skin sits at 1350 RP. Standard pricing for the category. 8 chromas available if you want variety. Tanzanite goes hard with the deep purple, gives it more of a dark sorcerer vibe than metal warrior. Obsidian strips the color back to pure black and gold which reads really clean in game. Pearl is interesting if you want the inverse angelic look, bright white against all that dark armor. Could be wrong here but I think Tanzanite is the most popular one I see in my Diamond games, maybe 3 or 4 times this season.

Comparing to other Kayle skins

Kayle has a stacked skin lineup at this point. Aether Wing used to be the default choice for mains but that rework hit it hard. Dragonslayer is solid. PsyOps is clean. But Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Kayle occupies this unique space where it’s both thematically cool and mechanically readable. Some Kayle skins make her abilities harder to track in teamfights, especially late game when she’s fully evolved and throwing out waves of damage from the backline. This one keeps the VFX distinct enough that you can track your E procs and R timing without squinting.

Played maybe 200 games with this skin across two seasons. The evolution stages feel rewarding every single time. Going from grounded metal knight to full winged shredder angel at level 16, scaling into late-game with the visual upgrade matching your power spike. There’s something about locking in Pentakill Kayle and just farming through lane phase knowing the payoff is coming.

Should you buy it?

Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul, new recall, solid chromas if you want to mix it up. Not quite Legendary territory in terms of features but the execution punches above its weight class. Been spamming this in Diamond on Kayle for months and I still notice small details I missed before, like how the passive attack speed visual changes with each evolution stage.

Worth 1350 RP if you main Kayle. Even if you dont, its one of those skins that might make you want to pick up the champion. Skip it only if you already own Dragonslayer and cant justify two Epic tier Kayle skins. But between the two? Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Kayle wins for me. Not close. The metal fantasy is just too good, and Riot nailed the VFX on this one in a way they sometimes miss on 1350 skins. S-tier Kayle cosmetic, might be overthinking it but I’d put it top two for her entire catalog.
