Midnight Ahri

Played maybe 150 games on Midnight Ahri back in season 3 and honestly its one of those skins that just stuck with me. Not because it does anything wild. Not because the particles blow your mind. It stuck because Ahri in dark blue and silver hits a vibe that none of her flashier skins really capture. Kinda feels like picking the quiet option in a roster full of pop stars and magical girls.

What Midnight Ahri actually gives you

This is a Standard tier skin at 750 RP, so set expectations accordingly. No new VFX. Voice lines stay base. No recall animation changes. What you get is a full model swap: Ahri trades her white-and-red look for a deep midnight blue outfit with silver accents. The tails shift darker too, and the overall silhouette reads cleaner in teamfights than you’d expect from a skin this old.

The outfit itself leans into a darker sorceress fantasy. Think less K-pop idol, more “the mage who shows up at 2 AM and charms your backline before you can ping.” Not gonna lie, in lane specifically the color palette makes her Q orb a little harder to track against certain map textures. Could be wrong here but I swear the orb poke lands more when the enemy cant distinguish it as fast.

Been maining Ahri on and off since season 4 and this skin still comes up in my rotation. The tails have a nice flow during movement that some of her newer Epic skins actually handle worse. Simple change – huge impact on how she reads during engages and disengages. No fancy transformation, no evolving elements. Just a clean recolor with a new outfit that holds up surprisingly well for a 2011 release.

The Legacy line and release history

Midnight Ahri dropped December 14, 2011. Early League days. Roanna Peroz and Kudos Productions handled the artwork, and the splash holds a certain old-school charm that I think ages better than some of the over-rendered splashes from 2015-2016. (Random aside: I used the old splash as my Discord avatar for like two years straight.)

Part of the Legacy catalog. Sits in the shop permanently at 750 RP though, so dont worry about vault rotations or waiting for an event. Ahri has like 15+ skins at this point and Midnight flies under the radar for most people. One chroma exists: the Ahri-versary chroma, which shifts the palette toward a blue-and-crimson combo. Dropped during Ahri’s anniversary celebration. The pink-red accents against the deep blue actually pop harder than the base Midnight colors in my opinion.

Should you pick up Midnight Ahri

Real verdict: if you already own Spirit Blossom or Coven, you probably wont touch this much. Those skins have new particles, new VO, the whole package. But 750 RP is nothing. Thats like skipping one coffee.

Where Midnight Ahri shines is for Ahri mains who want variety without the visual noise. Last Tuesday I swapped to this after a rough losing streak on Star Guardian and something about the simpler skin helped me focus on cs and lane prio instead of watching my own VFX. Might be overthinking it but the cleaner visuals felt like less distraction during teamfights around dragon pit.

Best budget Ahri skin full stop. My Ahri one-trick friend who’s been hard-stuck Diamond 2 for three seasons keeps this in rotation alongside her Legendaries. Three things stood out after years of use: the tail animation, the dark color readability, and how the model doesn’t clash with most chroma-heavy comps. Skip it if you only play Ahri casually and already have one good skin. Lock it in if you’re an Ahri main building the collection or if you want something understated for ranked. 750 RP well spent for mains.
