First game I played with Empyrean K’Sante was a top lane mirror match, season 12 preseason. The other K’Sante had base skin. Not gonna lie, the difference in visual clarity hit me immediately. The neon energy lines running through the model give K’Sante this whole cybernetic ascended look that base just doesnt touch. Locked it in and never looked back.
What the Empyrean theme does for K’Sante
The VFX overhaul is where this Epic skin earns the 1350 RP. Q slashes leave these bright trailing energy arcs, pinkish-purple with teal edges. Clean. W channel gets a visible energy buildup around his ntonfo weapons that reads way better in lane than base. You can actually feel the charge.
E dash has this streaking particle effect, like K’Sante is phasing through digital space for a split second. Looks sharp when you’re engaging through a minion wave to proc your passive on the enemy laner. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox visual on E actually matches better than base, which always felt slightly off to me.
R is the highlight. All Out form gets the full Empyrean treatment with intensified energy effects across the whole model. The ult slam itself has this burst of light on impact. Been running this in Diamond top lane since it dropped and the R animation genuinely feels more satisfying to land, especially when you dive their backline in a teamfight. (Random aside: the All Out form transition is smoother on this skin than any other K’Sante skin I’ve tried.)
Recall animation is new. Solid execution. K’Sante channels Empyrean energy through his weapons before ascending briefly. Nothing groundbreaking but fits the theme.
Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh on this one, which is standard for the tier.
The Empyrean line and release context
Empyrean K’Sante dropped November 3, 2022. That was literally K’Sante’s launch patch. Riot shipped him with an Empyrean skin day one, which tells you they had confidence in the skinline fitting his aesthetic. Francis Tneh and West Studio handled the artwork, and they nailed it. The splash captures the ascended energy vibe perfectly, K’Sante floating mid-transformation with those signature Empyrean colors bleeding through.
The Empyrean skinline pulled in a bunch of champions that season. Jhin, Lux, Varus, Zed, Pyke. K’Sante fits the lineup naturally. The whole theme is about transcending mortal limits through some kind of cosmic digital energy, and for a champion whose kit literally has a form swap called All Out, thats on point.
5 chromas total. Neon Flare is my pick, the red-green split gives a completely different read on the Rift compared to the base purple-teal. Turquoise leans into a cooler mono-tone that works well if you want something subtler. Pearl exists for the minimalist crowd but I think it washes out the detail work on the weapons. Shop has it permanently, so no rush if you’re still climbing and want to save RP.
Is Empyrean K’Sante worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: this was K’Sante’s best skin for a while. Heartsteel came later and competes hard on the thematic side, but for pure visual clarity in ranked play, Empyrean reads cleaner. The VFX on Q and R specifically give you better feedback during trades pre-6 and in late-game teamfights.
Played maybe 80 games with this last Tuesday night session included and I keep it in rotation over base every time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the kit, solid recall, clean model with good chroma options. Kinda feels like Riot put extra effort into launch skins to sell the champion fantasy, and it shows here.
Skip it if you already own Heartsteel and only play K’Sante casually. But for K’Sante mains who want the competitive-friendly option with less visual noise? Top pick. The Empyrean line suits his kit better than any theme they’ve tried since. One of those skins where the base just feels incomplete after you’ve used it for a season or two of splitpush and peel duty in solo queue.
