Cottontail Skins

Cottontail is one of those skinlines that has no business being as charming as it is. Two skins, both 975 RP, both on champions that already tilt people just by existing on the loading screen. Been playing since season 2 and I remember when Cottontail Teemo dropped during Easter 2011. The whole line is pastel colors, bunny ears, and egg-themed abilities. Sounds ridiculous on paper. Works perfectly in game. Kinda feels like Riot made these specifically to tilt your opponents harder than base Teemo and Fizz already do.
What Makes Cottontail Stand Out on the Rift
Not gonna lie, the Cottontail line is one of the simplest thematic concepts Riot has ever shipped. Take an annoying champion. Slap bunny ears on them. Recolor abilities to Easter pastels. Done. But theres something about the execution that just lands right, especially for a 2011-era skin concept that predates basically all of Riot's modern skin pipeline.
The visual signature is obvious: pastel purples, pinks, soft greens. Easter eggs replacing projectiles or mushrooms. Bunny suits on tiny yordle-adjacent champions. The color palette reads clean against Summoner's Rift because it contrasts with the typical dark blues and earthy tones you see everywhere else. When you spot a Cottontail skin in lane, you notice it immediately.
What ties the two skins together beyond aesthetics is the vibe. Both champions are poke-heavy, evasive, frustrating to play against. The cute Easter bunny costume makes the enemy team even more tilted when they die to a mushroom or get shark-ulted by a fish in a rabbit outfit. It's psychological warfare through cosmetics. Honestly might be the most efficient 975 RP tilt purchase in the game.
Compared to something like Pool Party which also does "cute and silly" but across 15+ champions, Cottontail stays tiny and focused. Two skins. Both work. No filler. (Random aside: I actually think Riot could expand this into a proper Easter event line but they seem to have moved on to Mythmaker and Faerie Court for the spring slot.)
The splash arts are old-school. No dynamic action poses or cinematic lighting. Just the champions in bunny outfits with Easter eggs around them. For 2011 and 2015 respectively, they were fine. By 2026 standards they look dated but not ugly. The in-game models hold up better than the splashes because the bright pastel read well at gameplay zoom level.
Best Cottontail Skins to Lock In
With only two skins in the line, this isn't exactly a deep tier list. But there is a clear winner and a clear "also good" here.
Cottontail Teemo takes it. Not close. The skin replaces his mushrooms with Easter eggs which is peak thematic execution for a 975 RP Standard tier skin. You're literally hiding painted eggs all over the map. Every time someone steps on one and takes the damage-over-time, you know they're staring at a pastel egg exploding on their screen. Been spamming this in ranked during spring months for years. The tilt factor is real.
The model gives Teemo a full purple bunny costume with long ears. His blowgun shoots what look like painted eggs. The Q blind dart gets a subtle recolor. For a skin that released in April 2011, the particle work is minimal but the concept carries it hard. Could be wrong here but I think this is still a top 3 Teemo skin purely on personality, even with newer options like Spirit Blossom and Beezahar-adjacent skins available.
Cottontail Fizz is solid but lives in Fizz's shadow. The problem is Fizz has so many good skins at this point that a 975 RP Standard from 2015 struggles to compete. The shark becomes a giant bunny that bursts from the ground. Playful/Trickster gets pastel particles. The model is a Fizz in a bunny hood carrying an Easter basket instead of his trident. Cute.
Real talk though, if you main Fizz and want a silly skin, this competes directly with Surprise Party Fizz and Omega Squad Fizz for the humor slot. It does the job but doesn't dominate. In my Diamond games I see maybe one Cottontail Fizz per month versus Cottontail Teemo showing up every other game during March and April. The Teemo version just has more cultural staying power.
Both skins lack new voice lines, chromas, or recall animations. Standard tier from that era. You get model + texture + basic particle recolors. Thats the package. For 975 RP each, the value proposition is fine if you like the concept.
Champion Roster and Thematic Fit
Two champions. Teemo and Fizz. Both small, both annoying, both excel at making the enemy team type in all chat. The thematic fit is excellent for both.
Teemo is the perfect Cottontail champion. He's already a small furry creature. Adding bunny ears feels natural. His kit revolves around placing hidden traps which become Easter eggs. The champion fantasy and the skin fantasy overlap perfectly. Not sure if it's just me but I genuinely believe Cottontail Teemo was designed in like 30 minutes and it worked because Teemo's silhouette already reads "small cute creature." Minimal creative effort, maximum thematic payoff.
Fizz works but less naturally. He's aquatic, not terrestrial. Putting a sea creature in a bunny costume is more of a costume party vibe than a genuine thematic transformation. Still funny though. The shark-to-bunny ult swap is clever. His playful hop ability getting Easter particles makes sense visually even if thematically it's "fish wearing rabbit clothes." In practice you don't think about it during a teamfight, it just looks colorful and silly.
Who should get a Cottontail skin next? Honestly I've thought about this more than I should. Veigar would be perfect. Short, evil, already has a big hat silhouette that could become bunny ears. His Dark Matter could rain Easter eggs. Event Horizon cage made of decorated eggs. Primordial Burst being a giant egg exploding. (Sidebar: someone on the champion concepts subreddit mocked this up years ago and it looked incredible.) Lulu would also fit. Gnar too. Basically any small champion with projectile abilities that could become egg-themed.
The line staying at 2 champions for over 10 years suggests Riot considers it "done" or seasonal-only. Fair enough. Two is a skinline, not a franchise. But if they ever did a spring event with 4-5 Cottontail skins at once, I think the playerbase would eat it up.
Tier Breakdown and Pricing
Both Cottontail skins sit at Standard tier, 975 RP each. No Legendaries. No Epics. No Mythics. This is a budget skinline from a simpler era of League cosmetics.
975 RP in 2011 and 2015 got you a new model, new textures, and basic particle changes. No new animations, no new voice lines, no recall animation. By today's standards that's minimal but the price reflects it. You're paying less than an Epic (1350 RP) and getting proportionally less content. Fair deal.
The lack of higher-tier entries means the Cottontail line doesn't have a "flagship" skin. There's no Legendary Cottontail with new VO, no Ultimate with multiple forms. It's two fun novelty skins at a reasonable price point. Might be overthinking it but I think this actually works in the line's favor. Not everything needs to be a prestige event with borders and icons. Sometimes you just want a 975 RP bunny costume for your ranked games.
Price range is flat: 975 to 975. Both Standard. Both permanent shop availability. No Legacy vault nonsense, no loot-exclusive gatekeeping. You want Cottontail Teemo, you open the shop, you buy it. Simple. The way skins used to work before everything became event-pass-limited or Mythic Essence exclusive.
For mains of either champion who want a complete collection, these are easy pickups. Sub-1000 RP, always available, no FOMO. For casual players, Cottontail Teemo specifically is worth the 975 purely for the Easter egg mushroom gimmick. Fizz is more of a "completionist or fan of the theme" purchase since he has stronger options at similar or slightly higher price points.
Should You Actually Spend RP on Cottontail Skins in 2026
Depends entirely on what you value. If you want cutting-edge VFX, custom animations, new voice lines, evolving visuals - skip Cottontail entirely. These are 2011 and 2015 Standard skins. They look their age in certain respects.
But if you value personality, tilt factor, and thematic charm? Cottontail Teemo is still one of the most recognizable skins in the game for a reason. Played maybe 200 games with it across multiple seasons and the Easter egg mushrooms never stop being funny. In my ranked games at Diamond, dropping a pastel egg in the enemy jungle entrance feels like leaving a little present. The psychological impact is non-zero.
Real talk, 975 RP is cheap enough that you don't need to agonize over the decision. It's not 1820 where you're making a serious investment. It's a fun skin at a fun price. Lock it in during spring, spam it for a month, rotate back to your tryhard skin for climbing. That's the Cottontail lifecycle and it works perfectly.
Cottontail Skinline FAQ
How many Cottontail skins are there?
There's 2 Cottontail skins total. Cottontail Teemo from 2011 and Cottontail Fizz from 2015. Small line, both Standard tier at 975 RP. Riot hasn't added to it since 2015 so it might be considered finished at this point. Been hoping for a Cottontail Veigar for years personally but probably not happening.
What is the best Cottontail skin?
Cottontail Teemo wins easily. The Easter egg mushrooms are iconic and the bunny costume fits Teemo's silhouette naturally. Fizz is fine but competes with too many better Fizz skins. For pure personality and tilt value, Teemo's version is the one people actually remember and recognize in game. Not even close in my opinion.
Which champions have Cottontail skins?
Teemo and Fizz. Just those two. Both are small annoying champions with poke-heavy kits which fits the playful Easter bunny theme perfectly. The line hasn't expanded since Fizz got his in 2015. Would love to see Veigar or Lulu join eventually but Riot seems to have moved on from seasonal stuff like this.
Does Cottontail have Legendary skins?
Nope. Both Cottontail skins are Standard tier at 975 RP. No Legendary, no Epic, no Mythic entries. You get new model and basic particle recolors but no new voice lines or recall animations. It's a budget-friendly line from an era when most skins were simpler. Dont expect a Legendary Cottontail anytime soon given how dormant the line is.
When did the Cottontail skinline release?
Cottontail Teemo launched in April 2011, making it one of League's older skinlines. Cottontail Fizz followed four years later in 2015. Both released around Easter timing which makes sense for the bunny egg theme. The line spans 2011 to 2015 with nothing new since. Early League seasonal content at its most straightforward.
Are Cottontail skins worth buying?
At 975 RP each they're low-commitment purchases. Cottontail Teemo is genuinely worth it for Teemo mains or anyone who wants maximum tilt output in ranked. The Easter egg mushrooms are hilarious. Fizz is more situational since he has stronger skin options elsewhere. If you like cute novelty skins and play either champion, 975 RP feels fair for what you get.
Do Cottontail skins have chromas?
Neither Cottontail skin has chromas. These released in 2011 and 2015 before Riot's chroma system was widely rolled out to older skins. Standard tier skins from that era rarely get retroactive chroma treatment. Could be wrong but I dont see Riot going back to add chromas to a dormant 2-skin seasonal line. What you see is what you get.
Will Riot make more Cottontail skins?
Unlikely based on the 10+ year gap since the last entry. Riot tends to invest in newer event-driven skinlines rather than reviving old seasonal ones. Spring slots now go to stuff like Faerie Court or Mythmaker. Maybe during an Easter-themed event someday but I wouldnt hold my breath. The line feels complete at 2 skins honestly.
