Gold efficiency
| Stat | Amount | Gold per point | Gold value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ability Power | 75 | 20 g | 1500 g |
| Ability Haste | 25 | 50 g | 1250 g |
| Total stat value | 2750 g |
Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 2750 ÷ 2700 = 102%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

Horizon Focus is a 2,700 gold long-range mage item in League of Legends: 75 Ability Power and 25 Ability Haste in patch 26.21. Its Hypershot passive Reveals champions you hit with ability damage from 600 range or more, and Focus spreads that vision to other enemy champions standing near them.
What does Hypershot do?
It’s a vision passive, not a damage one. When your ability damage hits an enemy champion from at least 600 units away, that champion is Revealed for 6 seconds. So the target can’t vanish into a bush or fog of war right after you poke them, and your team sees where they went.
Focus builds on that. Once Hypershot triggers, other enemy champions close to the Revealed target are Revealed too, for a shorter time. Picture a long-range poke landing on the enemy frontline: suddenly the carries hiding behind it are visible as well (handy before a dragon fight).
Thing is, older versions of the item had extra damage on long-range hits. In the current data both passives are about vision only.
Who should build Horizon Focus?
Artillery mages. Champions whose main spells hit from far away get Hypershot value every time they poke, while short-range burst mages rarely trigger it at all. Is your champion a mage who mostly fights at point-blank range? Then this is the wrong item for you, and something like Malignance or Void Staff will do more.
In practice, it fits a siege or poke team best. The vision makes it easier to chase a wounded target into fog, and it tells your team whether the enemy jungler is standing next to the champion you just hit. Not exciting, but it wins fights.
Is it gold efficient?
Slightly above even, at 102%. The stats are worth 2,750 gold, the price is 2,700.
75 Ability Power accounts for 1,500 gold at 20 per point, and 25 Ability Haste for 1,250 gold. That’s a lot of haste for a mage item, honestly, and for long-cooldown artillery spells it may matter more than the vision. The two passives come on top for free.
What does it build from?
Two Fiendish Codex (850 gold each) and an Amplifying Tome (400 gold), plus 600 gold to combine. Fiendish Codex brings Ability Haste early, so the first one is a good buy on your first or second back. The item doesn’t upgrade into anything.
How has Horizon Focus changed over time?
Few items have swung this much. It entered Riot’s data in patch 10.23, and the Ability Power number alone has gone up and down for years:
- Patch 14.1: cost 3,000 → 2,700 gold, Ability Power 100 → 90, Ability Haste 15 → 20.
- Patch 14.19: Ability Power 90 → 75, Ability Haste 20 → 25.
- Patch 25.10: cost 2,700 → 2,900 gold, Ability Power 75 → 110, effect text changed.
- 25.11 and 25.17 cut the price step by step while adding Ability Power, up to 125.
- Patch 26.1: cost 2,750 → 2,700 gold, Ability Power 125 → 75.
So in 26.1 it lost 50 Ability Power in a single patch (one of the biggest cuts in the whole list), which put it right back near the 75 it had before 25.10 and made the haste the main reason to buy it again. The rest? See the table above. Our LoL items database tracks every other Ability Power item the same way.
When does it make sense?
When your damage comes from far away and your team needs to know where the enemy is. Funny enough, vision wins more fights than people admit, so a poke team that keeps finding targets in the fog gets a lot of quiet value from it. For a quick look at who plays long-range mages, see our guide to LoL roles; on artillery champions in mid lane or support, Horizon Focus is usually a second or third item.
