Nidalee ARAM Build and Guide
Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.
A Nidalee ARAM build is a long-range poke build: Ability Power and Ability Haste so Javelin Toss hits hard and comes back fast. The Howling Abyss buffs her, with Nidalee dealing 110% damage in ARAM. One lane, no jungle to clear and five enemies walking straight toward her spears is close to her ideal match.
What follows is our reading of her patch 26.21 kit set against today’s item shop. Win-rate data stayed out of it.

How is Nidalee changed in ARAM?
| ARAM modifier | Nidalee |
|---|---|
| Damage dealt | 110% |
A straight damage buff, nothing else. Every javelin, trap, Takedown and Swipe lands 10% harder than on Summoner’s Rift, and the damage she takes is unchanged. Why does a jungler get buffed here? Probably because her normal strengths don’t transfer: Prowl’s brush speed, the camp clearing, the ganks from fog of war. On the Abyss she’s mostly a poke mage with a cat form attached, and the modifier pays for what she loses (at least that’s how it plays out).
Why does Nidalee fit the Howling Abyss?
Because Javelin Toss gains damage the further it flies, and ARAM is a map built for long-range skillshots down a narrow lane. Riot’s patch 26.21 text:
- Prowl (passive): brush speeds her up, and a javelin or trap hit starts a Hunt, giving True Sight of the target, bonus speed toward it and enhanced Takedown and Pounce against it.
- Javelin Toss / Takedown (Q): a thrown javelin that gains damage as it travels; as a cougar, an attack that hurts more the lower the target’s life. Cooldown 6.
- Bushwhack / Pounce (W): a trap that damages and reveals; as a cougar, a jump that damages where she lands. Cooldown 13/12/11/10/9.
- Primal Surge / Swipe (E): heals an ally and grants Attack Speed; as a cougar, a claw swipe in front of her. Cooldown 12.
- Aspect Of The Cougar (R): swaps forms. Cooldown 3.
The javelin is the whole pick. Enemies in ARAM walk toward you down a corridor with few places to sidestep, and a max-distance spear on a 6 second cooldown chunks someone every time it connects. To be fair, the heal is the quiet second reason. Primal Surge restores an ally’s Health on a 12 second cooldown, and on a map without recall that keeps your team topped up between relics. Then there’s the cougar. Is it worth diving in? Only to finish someone, since Takedown scales with missing life and a Hunted target takes the enhanced version.
What should a Nidalee ARAM build focus on?
Ability Power, Ability Haste and penetration. Thing is, a javelin that misses does nothing, so every point of Haste is another throw, and that matters more than raw damage on most of the build.
Horizon Focus is the first buy (no contest, on a spear thrower). Hypershot reveals any champion hit by ability damage from 600 range or further for 6 seconds, and Focus reveals other enemies near that target too. In practice, long javelins trigger it naturally. The item also carries 25 Ability Haste, the most on this list.
Stormsurge comes second. Stormraider applies Squall to a champion once you’ve dealt 25% of their maximum Health within 2.5s, and a max-range javelin plus a cougar follow-up gets there often. Squall then deals extra magic damage after a short delay. The 6% Move Speed is a small bonus for kiting.
Third, Shadowflame. Cinderbloom makes magic and true damage critically strike enemies below 40% Health for 20% more damage, which lines up with the moment she switches to cougar to execute. That’s 110 Ability Power, the biggest number here.
Void Staff closes it out against tanks, with 40% Magic Penetration. If the enemy team is squishy, Lich Bane is the fun alternative: Spellblade adds bonus magic damage to her next attack after any ability, and Takedown is an attack. Boots are Sorcerer’s Shoes for 12 flat Magic Penetration.
How do you play Nidalee on the Howling Abyss?
- Throw javelins from max range. Javelin Toss gains damage as it flies, so a close throw wastes most of it.
- Drop Bushwhack traps around health relics. Enemies walking for the relic spring them and get revealed.
- Heal before you poke. Primal Surge is on a 12 second cooldown; use it on whoever is lowest, then switch back to spears.
- Go cougar only on Hunted, low-Health targets. Takedown and Pounce are enhanced against them.
- Stay behind your frontline. She has no crowd control, so anyone who reaches her is free to hit her.
How do no-recall shopping and Mark work for Nidalee?
Recall doesn’t exist here. Gold turns into items only at the fountain, so on the opening walk and after every death. Primal Surge does a lot of the work that recalling would, which is why Nidalee keeps a team healthy longer than most poke mages manage (relics help, but they’re shared and slow).
Mark gives you a snowball; land it and you can dash to the target. Summoners are chosen before loading, and they’re fixed for the game. For a poke champion, the snowball is mostly a chase tool: javelin from range, Mark onto the target once it’s low, cougar form, Takedown. Honestly, that combo looks great when it works, and it falls apart the moment you force it into five healthy enemies, so pick your moment.
Is Nidalee good in ARAM?
Yes, if you can land spears. The 110% damage dealt buff stacks onto a javelin that already rewards long-range hits, and the corridor gives her a stream of targets walking straight toward her. Her weakness hasn’t changed: no crowd control and a 525 range attack. Sure, get caught and she dies quickly.
Junglers and divers who punish her are covered in our guide to Nidalee’s counters. On the Rift she normally takes the jungle, which our beginner’s guide to roles explains. Full stats for each item mentioned are in the League items list, and her cosmetics are on the Nidalee skins page.
To sum it up, the Nidalee ARAM build is Horizon Focus, Stormsurge, Shadowflame and Void Staff on Sorcerer’s Shoes: spears from range, heals in between, and the cougar only for the finish.
FAQ
Is Nidalee buffed in ARAM?
Yes. For patch 26.21, the League of Legends Wiki gives her 110% damage dealt in ARAM and no other modifiers.
What items should Nidalee build in ARAM?
Horizon Focus, Stormsurge, Shadowflame and Void Staff, with Sorcerer’s Shoes. Lich Bane is an option against squishy teams.
Why does Javelin Toss work so well in ARAM?
It gains damage the further it travels, and the single lane gives long, straight sightlines toward enemies.
Does her heal still work here?
Yes. In human form, Primal Surge heals an ally and grants Attack Speed on a 12 second cooldown. ARAM modifiers do not change her healing.
Where does this build come from?
From Nidalee’s patch 26.21 ability descriptions matched against each item’s passive. No win-rate statistics were used.
