Soraka ARAM Build and Guide

Updated for patch 26.21. Ability details come from Riot’s official game data for this patch; ARAM balance numbers come from the League of Legends Wiki’s champion data.

A Soraka ARAM build starts from a friendly number: Soraka takes 97% damage in ARAM, and that is her only modifier, so nothing touches her healing. She is a pure healer. Starcall pokes (and heals her when it hits a champion), Astral Infusion trades her health for an ally’s, Equinox silences, and Wish heals every allied champion at once.

Item picks are editorial, based on what each item does in patch 26.21. We don’t use win-rate data.

How is Soraka changed in ARAM?

Honestly, barely. The League of Legends Wiki lists a single modifier for her: damage taken at 97%. The Wiki lists nothing else, and in ARAM terms an unlisted value means no change, so her healing stays at full strength.

ARAM modifier Soraka
Damage taken 97%

Why does a 3% cut matter at all? Because Astral Infusion costs Soraka her own health on every cast, and Wish sits on a 150 second cooldown at rank one (a long time in ARAM), so every point of damage she doesn’t take is a point she can spend on somebody else. Three percent sounds like nothing until you’ve W’d yourself down to a sliver and that 3% is what you’re still standing on. The mode leaves her healing alone.

Why does Soraka’s kit work in one lane?

ARAM is one lane, five players a side, random champions, and nobody ever leaves. A healer wants exactly that, because the whole team is fighting in the one lane, in range of her, all game.

  • Salvation (passive): Soraka runs faster towards nearby low health allies.
  • Starcall (Q): a star falls at the target location, dealing magic damage and slowing enemies, and if it hits an enemy champion Soraka recovers health. Cooldown 8/7/6/5/4 seconds. Poke and self-sustain in one button.
  • Astral Infusion (W): she sacrifices a portion of her own health to heal another friendly champion. Cooldown 6/5/4/3/2 seconds, and two seconds at max rank is a lot of healing.
  • Equinox (E): a zone that silences every enemy inside and roots anyone still standing in it when it expires. Cooldown 20/19/18/17/16 seconds, the longest of her basic abilities.
  • Wish (R): instantly restores health to Soraka and all allied champions. Cooldown 150/135/120 seconds.

Where does it struggle? Her attack range is 550, she has no dash, and Astral Infusion drains her, so a team that dives past the frontline puts her in real danger. You buy all that healing with a champion who can’t get herself out of anything.

What should a Soraka ARAM build look like?

Heal and Shield Power comes first (on this champion at least), then ability haste, then mana regen, give or take. Put simply, raw damage is a waste of a slot on her. Her job is keeping four other people alive, so every slot goes to something that makes the W or the R bigger.

Moonstone Renewer

25 Ability Power, 200 Health, 20 Ability Haste and 125% Base Mana Regen for 2200 gold. Starlit Grace chains any heal or shield on an ally to another ally (not yourself), healing 30% of the original amount. So in practice every Astral Infusion heals two people, and with W on a 2 second cooldown at max rank you’re chaining that double heal for the whole fight.

Redemption

30 Ability Power, 15 Ability Haste, 100% Base Mana Regen and 10% Heal and Shield Power for 2300 gold. The active, Intervention, restores 150 to 350 Health to allied units and deals 10% max Health true damage to enemy champions after 2.5 seconds. It’s a second team heal for the long gaps while Wish is down, and on a champion whose only other damage is Starcall, that true damage is, to be fair, the closest she gets to actually killing something.

Dawncore

45 Ability Power, 16% Heal and Shield Power and 100% Base Mana Regen, 2500 gold. First Light grants 2% Heal and Shield Power and 10 Ability Power per 100% Base Mana Regen, and by the third item you are stacking mana regen from everything you own, so the passive pays out. This is the item where the heals stop feeling like a mage with a heal button and start feeling like Soraka.

Crimson Lucidity (boots)

20 Ability Haste, 45 Move Speed and 20 Summoner Spell Haste for 900 gold. Noxian Haste grants Move Speed for 4 seconds when you empower or protect an ally with an ability, once per cast, and on Soraka that triggers on every W. Cheap, and the haste shortens every cooldown she has.

Full stats and patch history for all four are in our items database.

How do you play Soraka on the Howling Abyss?

  • Stand at the back and stay there. 550 range, no escape. If the enemy team has dashes, stand further back than feels comfortable.
  • Poke with Starcall, heal with Starcall. A star that lands on a champion gives health back, which funds the next Astral Infusion. Miss, and you get nothing.
  • Watch your own bar. Astral Infusion costs your own health, so healing a full-health ally while you sit at 20% leaves you exposed.
  • Save Equinox for the dive. The root only lands on enemies who stay inside the zone, so drop it where they want to stand, not where they are.
  • Wish when two or more allies are low. At 150 seconds, burning it on one person is a waste, unless that person is the carry.

How do shopping and Mark work on the Howling Abyss?

You can’t recall in ARAM. The fountain shop is open to you twice over: once before the game begins, and again after every death, with no other visits in between. For Soraka that means planning ahead: decide the next item before the fight, so a death at least turns into a Moonstone or a Redemption the moment you spawn. Health relics on the map restore health, and on a champion who spends her own health to heal, those relics are worth walking for, even when the rest of your team is eyeing the same one.

ARAM’s own summoner spell is Mark: you lob a snowball, and landing it on a target unlocks a dash onto them. Mark is a poor fit for Soraka. Her whole kit is about staying out of reach, and since you lock summoner spells before the game loads, pick something that keeps her alive and let the frontline do the snowballing.

Is Soraka good in ARAM?

Yes, as long as your team has damage and you don’t need to be it. A healer with no healing nerf, a 2 second W at max rank and a team-wide ultimate does a lot in a mode where nobody can go home to heal. The catch is she contributes almost nothing on her own, so a lobby of four other supports is rough (random champions, so it happens). She also teaches positioning, because at 550 attack range with no dash you get punished for every bad step. Our Soraka counters guide covers the matchups that make her life hard, and the guide to LoL roles explains why she counts as both support and mage. Her skins live on the Soraka skins page, and the rest of our champion guides follow the same format as this one.

You know a Soraka ARAM game went well when the only health bar that ever got scary was yours.
