Roblox Tools and Guides: Payments, Safety, DevEx (2026)

Updated November 5, 2026

This is the landing page for every Roblox guide and calculator on the site. Below is a plain read of Robux, Roblox Plus prices, account safety, age-tiered accounts and DevEx — all pulled from official Roblox pages, each fact cited to the source it came from. The tools section links out to our own calculators that use these facts for live math.

Scope note: Roblox updates prices, age rules and DevEx rate from time to time. This hub carries a check date at the top of the page. For any live number you’re about to spend money on, open the official Roblox page linked under that number and read it there too.

What Roblox is and how Robux work

Robux power the in-app economy. Roblox Help puts it plainly: “Robux are the virtual currency of Roblox and there are ways to purchase or earn Robux.” Players buy Robux “in our mobile, browser, PlayStation, and Xbox One apps,” and the official Ways to Get Robux article (en.help.roblox.com) states that web and gift-card purchases “will receive up to 25% more Robux” compared to other paths.

Roblox also lists exactly three legitimate ways to earn Robux: “sell avatar items on the Marketplace,” “build an experience and earn Robux in a variety of ways,” and the Developer Exchange program. The same page shuts the door on generators in a line that is useful to quote in full: “There is no such thing as a Robux Generator. If a person, website, or experience tries to tell you there is one, this is a scam.” Treat any site offering free Robux the same way: assume scam, no matter how the page looks.

Roblox Plus subscription prices (November 2026)

The subscription ladder sits on roblox.com/upgrades/robux. As of 5 November 2026, the US-dollar tiers listed there are:

  • Roblox Plus. $4.99/month. Perks listed on the page: “Up to 20% off on items and avatars,” “Free private servers,” “Send Robux for free,” and app/profile theme customisation.
  • Plus 500. $8.99/month (the page shows $9.98 as the “total value,” so the sticker is a discount). Includes Plus perks and “+500 Robux every month.”
  • Plus 1000. $12.99/month, listed with $14.98 as total value. Plus perks and “+1,000 Robux every month.”
  • Plus 2000. $21.99/month, listed with $24.98 as total value. Plus perks and “+2,000 Robux every month.”

Roblox sells one-off Robux packages on the same page in a separate grid. Package prices show in the viewer’s regional currency, so dollar numbers for packs change based on your location. Open the page in your own browser for a live read.

Gift-card details also sit on en.help.roblox.com. The Roblox Credit article says verbatim: “Roblox Gift Cards can only be redeemed on a web browser.” It adds that the credit “may only be used to purchase Robux or a Roblox Premium Subscription.” Honest take: if you buy a card as a present, tell the recipient to redeem it on a desktop or mobile browser, not inside the app.

Account safety basics

Two settings matter more than everything else. The password article and the 2-Step Verification article both sit on en.help.roblox.com; they are the pages Roblox support points people to when accounts get taken over.

Change your password. If you ever see a banner asking you to reset, that is Roblox trying to put the account back under your sole control; the help article recommends enabling 2-Step Verification as “an added measure against outside access” after a reset.

Turn on 2-Step Verification. The 2SV article puts it this way: “2-Step Verification is an additional layer of security for your account. This is especially helpful in mitigating attackers from getting access into your account in case your password is stolen.” Setup lives at Account Settings → Security tab. Roblox requires “a verified email address on your account to enable 2-Step Verification.” One gotcha worth flagging: “if you log in via Email OTP or passkey, your 2-Step Verification will be bypassed.”

Age-tiered accounts and parental controls

Roblox runs two age-specific account types alongside its standard account. The safety-by-age page at corp.roblox.com describes them, verbatim: “Roblox Kids (5-8 year olds in most regions) and Roblox Select (9-15 year olds in most regions) accounts are designed to be appropriate for our younger users.” Each tier changes what chat is on by default.

  • Roblox Kids (5–8). Chat is off by default. Parents can turn on in-game chat (Experience Chat). Chat outside games stays disabled.
  • Roblox Select (9–15). Experience Chat is on between age-appropriate users. Direct one-on-one chat in games stays off unless a parent turns it on.
  • Video Chat. Roblox is explicit on this one: “Video Chat is not available in any region.” No exceptions by age.

Age verification lives on a separate about.roblox.com page. Roblox lists three options: “Facial Age Estimation technology” (the fastest check), “ID verification with a government-issued ID,” or “verify your child’s age using parental controls.” The same page notes that Chat and voice may also be “disabled in your region” for policy or legal reasons.

Earning real money via DevEx

DevEx is how creators turn earned Robux into money. Roblox Creator Hub (create.roblox.com) states: “The Roblox Developer Exchange Program (DevEx) is a program that allows eligible creators to exchange their Earned Robux for real-world local currency.”

Current rates, quoted from the same page:

  • Standard: “0.0038 per 1 Earned Robux, which comes out to $114 USD for 30,000 Earned Robux.”
  • Higher U.S. 18+ rate: “0.0054 for certain Earned Robux in eligible games from purchases of developer products, passes, subscriptions, and private servers from U.S. players who have verified their age as at least 18 years old through facial age estimation or government ID.”

Not all Robux count. Earned Robux has to come from paid game features or Creator Store sales. The DevEx article explicitly excludes “Direct Robux purchase,” “Monthly Robux grants as part of a Roblox subscription,” “Trading or resale of in-game items,” and “Robux gift card redemption.” Short version: only Robux you earned from real sales qualify.

FAQ

Are there Robux generators that actually work?

No. The official Roblox answer is: “There is no such thing as a Robux Generator. If a person, website, or experience tries to tell you there is one, this is a scam.” Report any site that claims otherwise.

How much is Roblox Plus a month?

$4.99/month for the base Plus tier, with $8.99, $12.99 and $21.99 for the 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Robux-per-month bundles respectively. Prices as listed on roblox.com/upgrades/robux on 5 November 2026.

What is the DevEx exchange rate?

Standard: 0.0038 USD per Earned Robux ($114 for 30,000 Robux). A higher 0.0054 rate applies to certain Earned Robux earned from U.S. players aged 18+ who are age-verified.

How old do I need to be for voice chat on Roblox?

Roblox uses age verification before unlocking chat features. Facial age estimation is listed as the fastest route; a government ID or parental verification of the child’s age are the alternatives. Chat may be disabled in your region regardless.

What does 2-Step Verification protect?

It adds a code-based check on top of your password. Roblox describes it as “an additional layer of security for your account” that helps “in case your password is stolen.” Enable it under Account Settings → Security, after verifying your email.

Can I get a refund on Robux I spent on an item?

Roblox is direct on this: “we will not be able to refund your items once you buy.” Gift card balances are also final and can only be redeemed on a web browser at roblox.com.

Is Roblox Kids different from the regular account?

Yes. Roblox Kids (5–8 in most regions) has chat off by default and lives inside a restricted catalog. Roblox Select (9–15) has chat on between age-appropriate users. Parents can tune both through a linked parental control account.
