The patch 14.19 notes for League of Legends went live September 25, 2024. It was the biggest item update of the year, touching nearly every legendary item in the game. K’Sante got a rework. Tristana got reworked back into bot lane. Lethal Tempo was redesigned from scratch. Ultimate Spellbook returned. Split 3 kicked off the same day. Everything below comes from the official Riot patch 14.19 page.

Patch 14.19 Overview: Why Riot Made These Changes

14.17 and 14.18 ran too fast. Games were closing out before 30 minutes more often than they should. A gold lead at item 1 could close out the game on its own. Some champions were pumping numbers that had nothing to do with their class identity. Instead of picking individual items to nerf, Riot cut stats across the board and shaped each cut differently per class.

Speed-stacking classes got hit hardest. Assassins have one burst window per fight. Tanks mostly broke even since some items swapped flat health for resistance. Enchanters kept their utility but lost the movement speed. The idea is that each class plays its actual role by item 3 instead of everything converging on the same stat profile.

Four champions were also updated, and Split 3 launches the same day as the patch.

Elise: QoL Fixes, No Damage Changes

No damage changes for Elise in the patch 14.19 notes. The update was entirely about making her kit function more cleanly. If you have played her for a while, these fixes are noticeable immediately.

Spiderlings now fully regenerate on resummon and leap directly onto your Q target instead of pathfinding to it. In human form, Cocoon (E) reveals stealthed enemies and can be redirected mid-cast by pressing Flash. In spider form, Rappel (E) applies its buff on descent rather than after landing, and you can drop back down after 1 second without waiting out the full animation. The R cooldown went from 4 seconds to 3, which matters more than it sounds when you are swapping forms constantly during a gank.

K’Sante: Rework for Isolated Dueling

K’Sante was the kind of champion that felt manageable for most players but had no real ceiling in the right hands. He could play safe, deal damage, and lock down fights all at once. There was no moment where you had to commit and risk losing something. This rework forces that commitment. The payoff is higher, but only when you actually go all in.

Attack range drops from 175 to 150, so laning phase gets harder early on. Q hits harder and slows again in All Out, but the hitbox is tighter now. Miss it and you feel it. E no longer wall-hops in All Out, removing the escape-while-fighting option. R (All Out) converts damage to physical, adds a stun, omnivamp, and armor penetration, and removes the bonus damage scaling from resistances.

The tradeoff is real. You get a harder lane and smaller margin for error. But when you land All Out correctly, the combat stats are cleaner and the stun on R creates plays that were not there before.

Tristana: Back to Bot Lane

Tristana had been sitting at around 45 percent win rate going into patch 14.19. She was rarely picked in pro play and was struggling in solo queue too. The mid-lane builds she was running were outperforming her actual bot lane role, so Riot cut those off and pushed her back toward standard crit ADC play.

Attack range goes from 525 to 550. Base AD is up by 1. Q (Rapid Fire) gets higher attack speed scaling. W (Rocket Jump) trades some slow for AD scaling and flat duration. E (Explosive Charge) loses base damage but scales much harder with crit, up to 2.15x, so she spikes later rather than through early cheese. R (Buster Shot) now stuns on hit, between 0.4 and 0.7 seconds depending on rank. That makes it an actual kill confirm in bot lane, not just a repositioning tool.

  • Attack Range: 525 to 550
  • Base AD: +1 (slightly reduced growth per level)
  • Q Rapid Fire: increased attack speed ratio
  • W Rocket Jump: lower slow, adds AD scaling and flat duration
  • E Explosive Charge: lower base damage, crit scaling up to 2.15x
  • R Buster Shot: cooldown reduced, stuns 0.4 to 0.7 seconds, damage converted to physical scaling with bonus AD

Vladimir: Minion Healing Nerfed

W-max Vladimir was not winning but the minion healing made him miserable to play against when he got a lead. Riot cut his W (Sanguine Pool) healing against minions to 60 percent. They also updated the tooltip to make clear that W healing bypasses target resistances.

Patch 14.19 Notes: Lethal Tempo Rework Explained

Old Lethal Tempo stacked attack speed and gave bonus auto attack range at max stacks. The problem was that it piled on top of what attack speed items already gave you. You took it because you wanted attack speed items anyway, so it just doubled down on the same stat.

The new version stacks on hit. Every auto you land on an enemy champion adds a stack, up to 6. Stacks last 6 seconds. Each one gives you 5% attack speed if you are melee, 4% if ranged. Once you hit all 6, every auto fires a bonus damage note on top: 9 to 30 for melee champs, 6 to 24 for ranged. The note’s damage scales with how much bonus attack speed you have. The Lethal Tempo rework in 14.19 now works with attack speed items rather than competing against them.

Other Rune Changes

  • Presence of Mind: mana recovery formula adjusted so it works more consistently across kit types
  • Shield Bash: invisible resist buff removed, damage scaling increased
  • Biscuit Delivery: no longer restores mana, health only
  • Nimbus Cloak: movement speed burst is higher now but decays over 2 seconds

Patch 14.19 Notes: Ultimate Spellbook Returns

Ultimate Spellbook is back, but the structure changed. You no longer get a random ultimate at champ select. Instead, you pick one of 4 Ulternate Summoners at the start of the game. New ones get offered throughout the match. You can keep what you have or swap to something new for a bonus. Swaps are available at the shop or on death, starting from 8 minutes then every 6 minutes.

The new Ultimate Ammo mechanic lets you cast your ult twice. Kill Baron, kill Elder, or grab Dragon Soul to earn an extra charge. Use your ult normally, wait 3 seconds, cast it again. New ultimates added to the pool: Aurora, Smolder, Hwei, Ziggs, Leona, Nautilus, Ornn, Nami, Kennen, Milio, Zilean.

Patch 14.19 Notes: Jungle Timer Changes in Ultimate Spellbook

Objective Old First Spawn New First Spawn Respawn
Scuttle Crab 3:30 3:00 90 seconds
Grubs 6:00 3:30 2:30
Dragon 5:00 4:00 3 minutes
Baron Nashor 20:00 10:00 3 minutes

Objective bounties now trigger at 10 minutes, not 14. Baron at minute 10 is the real change here. In a normal game you have until 20 minutes before Baron is even on the map. In Ultimate Spellbook, that window shrinks to 10. Every skirmish from minute 7 onward can lead directly to a Baron fight. The team that wins early objectives has a real path to close the game.

Honor System Update

Honor cap goes from 3 to 4 per game. You can also honor enemies now. If someone on the other team kept their cool during a rough game, you can recognize that. The honor progression and rewards system did not change.

The New “My Bad” Emote

Press I in game to send an apology to your team. They press I back to accept. If the whole team accepts, the emote turns into a quick shared celebration. One key, no typing. People will actually use this one.

Ward XP Removed in Patch 14.19

In patch 14.19, Riot removed ward XP entirely. Stealth Wards used to grant 40 XP when killed. Farsight Alterations gave 20 XP. Both are now zero. It was a small thing but it created real XP gaps. Experienced players knew to kill wards for the free XP. Most players had no idea. Now it is gone.

When Does Ranked Split 3 Start?

Split 2 ends September 24, 2024 at 23:59:59 local time. Split 3 goes live September 25 at 12:00. Ranked queues and shard transfers go offline for a short window while rewards process. APEX Duo restrictions drop temporarily during the rollover, but visual rank limits stay in place. Gold-and-above players from Split 2 get Victorious Sona a few days after launch.

If Split 2 went badly, a LoL smurf account lets you climb from clean MMR without dragging old placement issues into the new split. You can also use our MMR Checker to see where your account actually sits before you start Split 3 promos.

Patch 14.19 Notes: New Skins

The Fright Night skin line launches with patch 14.19 on September 25, 2024 at 18:00 UTC:

  • Fright Night Veigar (Legendary, 1820 RP, full VO and animation rework)
  • Fright Night Nunu and Willump (1350 RP)
  • Fright Night Shaco (1350 RP)
  • Fright Night Pyke (1350 RP)
  • Fright Night Zeri (1350 RP)

  • Worlds 2024 Viego

Victorious Sona goes to anyone who hit Gold in Split 2. It shows up a few days after launch. The rest of what we stock is on our LoL Skins page.

Patch 14.19 Notes: Quality of Life Changes

  • Item Queue: right-click any legendary in the shop and it gets queued. The HUD shows your gold progress toward it. Once you can afford the full item, the icon glows.
  • Forgot to buy after recalling? You get a ping reminder at base.
  • Jungler getting invaded early? The game auto-pings allies in the area.
  • Global audio and banner for Baron, Dragon, and other epic monster spawns.
  • Tower shot VFX grow larger as turret damage stacks up.
  • Potion reminder at below 50% HP for newer accounts that forget they have them.
  • Gold sharing rules for plates and local gold simplified and clearer on screen.

Patch 14.19 Notes: ARAM Changes

Even after the item nerfs, several burst mages were still printing damage in ARAM. The ARAM item buffs outweighed what the item nerfs took away for those champs. So Riot hit Aurora, Diana, Fizz, Karma, LeBlanc, Pantheon, Syndra, and Vladimir with ARAM-specific nerfs. Samira got a small damage buff in ARAM, going from 95% to 98%.

Bug Fixes

  • Electrocute damage was not calculating at intended values and is now fixed to match what the tooltip says.
  • Victorious Sona had several visual glitches and two functional bugs. Both are cleaned up.

How the Patch 14.19 Notes Change the Meta

Looking at the patch 14.19 notes as a whole, the tier list did not flip. Strong champs from 14.18 are still strong. What shifted is when that strength kicks in. Assassins get one burst attempt per fight. The cooldowns do not reset fast enough for a second run. ADCs now spike at 3 items rather than breaking games open at 2. Tanks die slower and hold their value better when behind.

Tristana is the champion to watch this patch. The R stun creates bot lane plays that were not there before, and the crit-scaling E means she gets genuinely threatening past 2 items. The K’Sante rework in patch 14.19 will drop his play rate initially while players adjust to the shorter range, but his reworked All Out gives cleaner isolated duel potential than before. Elise is just smoother to play now.

If you want to climb while the meta settles, our guide on how pro ADCs approach the game is worth reading. The Tristana buff shifts how you think about timing bot lane windows, and that guide covers exactly the mindset you need.

Tristana was buffed toward bot lane with a new stun on R and stronger crit scaling. Vladimir had his W minion healing reduced to 60 percent.

What happened to Lethal Tempo in patch 14.19?

Lethal Tempo was redesigned in patch 14.19. The old version stacked attack speed and granted bonus range at max stacks. The new version stacks on hit and fires a bonus on-hit damage note at max stacks. This separates it from attack speed items and rewards staying in a sustained fight.

When does Ranked Split 3 start in LoL?

Split 3 starts September 25, 2024 at 12:00 local time per region. Split 2 ends the night before at 23:59:59. Victorious Sona and other Split 2 rewards are sent out during the first few days of Split 3.

How is Ultimate Spellbook different in patch 14.19?

In patch 14.19 Ultimate Spellbook, you now pick from 4 Ulternate Summoners at game start instead of receiving a random ultimate. Swaps happen at the shop or on death from 8 minutes onward. A new Ultimate Ammo mechanic lets you earn a second ult cast by killing Baron, Elder Dragon, or securing Dragon Soul.

What new skins came out in patch 14.19?

The Fright Night skin line launched in patch 14.19 with skins for Veigar (Legendary), Nunu and Willump, Shaco, Pyke, and Zeri (standard and Prestige). Worlds 2024 Viego also became available. Victorious Sona arrived a few days later as the Split 2 ranked reward.

Did ward XP get removed in patch 14.19?

Yes. Stealth Wards no longer grant 40 XP when killed, and Farsight Alterations no longer grant 20 XP. Both are now zero. This removes a small but consistent XP gap between players who knew to clear wards and those who did not.
