S Tier – Best Supports Right Now
Thresh. Thresh has been a top support for over a decade because his kit does everything: hook, peel, engage, lantern saves. He is never a bad pick.
Nami. Nami’s Lucian synergy is still strong, but she also pairs well with most ADCs. Her heal, poke, and engage ultimate make her the most versatile enchanter.
Rell. Rell is the best engage tank support after her rework. Her magnetize mechanic lets her chain CC multiple enemies, and her ultimate is a teamfight-winning ability.
A Tier – Strong and Reliable
Lulu, Nautilus, Leona, Blitzcrank, Karma, Senna.
Lulu is the best peel support for hypercarry ADCs (Jinx, Kog’Maw, Vayne). Nautilus and Leona are point-and-click engage that works at every rank. Blitzcrank is the best hook champion in low elo because one grab wins lane. Senna scales into a secondary carry.
B Tier – Solid Picks With Conditions
Soraka, Janna, Morgana, Pyke, Renata Glasc, Milio.
Soraka is the strongest healer but gets punished by hard engage. Janna excels at peeling but needs something to peel for. Morgana is a counter-pick into hook champions (Black Shield). Pyke is an assassin support that falls off hard past 25 minutes.
C Tier – Playable But Outclassed
Yuumi, Brand, Vel’Koz, Zyra, Seraphine.
Mage supports (Brand, Vel’Koz, Zyra) can carry from support in low elo but are fragile and scale worse than a fed ADC. Yuumi is functional but her agency is limited to whoever she attaches to. Seraphine is better as an APC than a support this patch.
What Changed From Last Patch
- Rell up → S tier. Base armor buffs improve her laning phase, which was her main weakness.
- Pyke down → B tier. Lethality item nerfs reduce his one-shot potential, making him less threatening after lane phase.
Support Playstyle Guide
If you play engage (Thresh, Nautilus, Leona, Rell): roam after first back and look for picks. Your job is to start fights.
If you play enchanters (Nami, Lulu, Janna, Soraka): stay with your ADC, keep them alive, and scale. Your job is to enable your carry.
If you play mages (Brand, Zyra): poke in lane, ward aggressively, and try to snowball early before real supports outscale you.
