First time I saw Forsaken Jayce load in during a ranked game, I thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. The whole corrupted dark knight thing caught me off guard because Jayce usually gets the clean-cut hero treatment. Not gonna lie, this skin changed how I feel about playing Jayce entirely.
The corrupted hammer fantasy
Forsaken Jayce flips the character on his head. Instead of Piltover’s golden boy, you get this fallen warrior draped in dark armor with cracked energy pulsing through everything. The hammer form is where it really shines. Heavy, brutal, looks like something ripped out of a boss fight. Cannon form keeps the corrupted energy flowing through the barrel and the contrast between forms feels more dramatic than base Jayce by a mile.
The VFX overhaul is solid for an Epic skin. Your Q in hammer stance leaves this sickly purple trail, and the acceleration gate in cannon form has a dark energy ripple that reads cleanly against the Rift. Been running this in Diamond for a while now and I can say the ability particles dont interfere with gameplay clarity. Some skins mess with your read on hitboxes but Forsaken keeps it tight.
Recall animation is a nice touch. Jayce slams the hammer down and channels dark energy before getting pulled back. Short, clean, fits the theme. No new voice lines though – voice stays default. For 1350 RP you’d expect maybe a filter at least, but the base VO works fine honestly. Trevor Devall’s delivery still carries.
The transformation between hammer and cannon feels weightier with this skin. Could be wrong here but the dark particles during the swap give it more visual punch than the standard blue energy. Makes toggling R feel more impactful even though mechanically nothing changes.
Where Forsaken fits in Jayce’s lineup
Released May 3, 2015. Season 5. Michelle Hoefener nailed the splash – the composition with Jayce standing in ruins holding the corrupted hammer is one of the better Jayce splashes period. (random aside: had this as my desktop wallpaper for like three months back in 2016)
The Legacy skinline is where this sits, which is Riot’s catch-all for thematic one-offs that dont belong to a bigger universe. Forsaken works as a standalone concept. Dark corrupted version of a hero champion. Simple pitch, clean execution. The Legacy line has some misses but Forsaken Jayce lands solidly.
No chromas available for this one. Zero. What you see is what you get. The dark purple and black color scheme is strong enough on its own that I think chromas would’ve muddied it anyway. Sometimes less is more.
This Epic tier skin sits at 1350 RP. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault rotation nonsense. For context, Jayce has quite a few skins now between Battle Academia, Resistance, the Arcane tie-in, and others. Forsaken holds up surprisingly well against newer options despite being from 2015.
Playing Forsaken Jayce in actual games
Took this into ranked last week, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday night. Had a game where I was laning against a Malphite top and the dark VFX on poke Qs through the gate looked absolutely clean sailing across the lane. My jungler pinged me asking what skin that was. Small thing but it matters.
The auto attack animations in hammer form feel satisfying with the corrupted theme. Farming cs, trading in lane, jumping on the backline in teamfights – everything reads well. Kinda feels like the skin was designed hammer-form first and cannon second, because the melee animations got more love. The W hammer slam especially. Been spamming Jayce top in Diamond this season and Forsaken is in my rotation constantly.
One thing I noticed maybe 50 games in: the E knockback in hammer form has particles that blend into certain map areas, especially around dragon pit. Not a dealbreaker but worth knowing if you play around objectives a lot. In lane and in open teamfights its perfectly visible.
Should you buy Forsaken Jayce?
Real verdict: this is a top three Jayce skin and its been out since season 5. The dark corrupted theme is executed well, the VFX changes justify the 1350 RP price tag, and it ages better than most skins from that era. If you main Jayce and want something that isnt the flashy anime style of Battle Academia or the military look of Resistance, Forsaken fills a completely different vibe.
Skip this if you only play Jayce cannon form in mid. The skin’s identity leans hammer-heavy and you’d be missing half the appeal. But for top lane Jayce players who love diving into the enemy team with hammer Q and gate combo? Worth 1350 RP if you main Jayce. The skin just hits different when you’re going full melee aggro in a teamfight and everything on screen is dripping corrupted energy. Best dark-themed Jayce skin full stop, and I dont see that changing anytime soon.
