Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 540 ÷ 1100 = 49%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted, and neither are Omnivamp (no basic item sells this stat alone).

Immortal Path is a tier-three boots upgrade in League of Legends that grows out of Gluttonous Greaves, with a total value of 1,100 gold: 45 Move Speed and 4% Omnivamp in patch 26.21. Slay adds 0.6% Omnivamp per champion takedown, up to 10 stacks, and Now and Forever gives 4% more damage above half Health or 12% more healing, shielding and regeneration below it.

What does Immortal Path do?

It keeps the sustain theme of Gluttonous Greaves and adds two passives on top. One rewards you for getting kills and assists. The other switches its bonus depending on your Health, so it’s never fully idle: it adds damage when you’re winning the trade and adds healing when you’re the one trying to survive long enough for your jungler to show up.

Slay is the snowball part. Every champion takedown adds 0.6% Omnivamp, and it stacks up to 10 times, so a fed fighter ends up with a lot more healing from every source of damage than the base stat suggests. Riot’s data text doesn’t say whether the stacks fall off on death; the tooltip in the client is the place to check.

Now and Forever is the clever one. Above half Health you deal 4% more damage. Drop below half and the bonus flips to 12% more healing, shielding and regeneration. Put simply, it helps you push your advantage when you’re winning a trade and helps you climb back when you’re losing it (which, for a melee fighter, is most fights at some point).

How do you get the upgrade?

From Gluttonous Greaves, the tier-two boots with Omnivamp. Riot’s item data lists Greaves as the only component and shows no separate combine cost, so the upgrade’s 1,100 gold value is the same as the Greaves you already own. Selling it returns 770 gold.

Not sure when the upgrade becomes available? Riot’s item data doesn’t describe how it unlocks, so the shop in the client is the place to check. We’d rather leave a gap than guess.

Is the upgrade gold efficient?

On paper, no: 49%. Only the Move Speed can be priced, 45 at 12 gold each for 540 gold, so the stat value lands at 540 gold.

That number misleads, though. Omnivamp has no basic item to compare against, so it’s left out entirely, and the two passives aren’t counted either. Since you pay nothing extra over the Greaves, the real question is only whether the upgrade beats what you had.

It does.

What’s the history of item 3168?

A strange one. The item ID used to belong to Bonetooth Necklace (the old Rengar item, if you remember it), and the entry stayed in Riot’s data for years. Then two patches changed everything:

  • Patch 26.9: renamed from Bonetooth Necklace to Immortal Path, given Move Speed 45 and Omnivamp 4%, value 950 gold.
  • Patch 26.10: value 950 → 1,000 gold, effect text changed.

So these boots are new, only a few months old. Funny enough, the table above still carries the Bonetooth Necklace entries from patch 4.5 and earlier, since the ID is shared. Our LoL items database keeps the same patch record for every item.

Who should take Immortal Path?

Fighters and skirmishers who already bought Gluttonous Greaves for sustain. Champions that live in extended fights get the most from Now and Forever, and those that pick up kills or assists regularly stack Slay quickly. Is your champion a fighter in top lane or jungle who builds Omnivamp anyway? Then it’s the natural boots path. The Omnivamp from the base stat, the stacks from Slay and the healing boost below half Health all point the same way, toward a champion who stays in the fight and heals through it rather than one who bursts a target and leaves. A champion that wins by poking from range barely touches any of those three effects, which is the clearest sign to look elsewhere.

Honestly, if Gluttonous Greaves weren’t right for your champion, the upgrade won’t be either; the choice happens at tier two. In practice, ranged mages and marksmen pick other boots (they rarely want Omnivamp from this slot). Our guide to LoL roles shows where fighters usually play, and that’s where Immortal Path makes sense.
