Gold efficiency

| Ability Haste | 20 | 50 g | 1000 g |
| Move Speed | 45 | 12 g | 540 g |

Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 1540 ÷ 900 = 171%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

Crimson Lucidity is the tier-three upgrade of Ionian Boots of Lucidity in League of Legends, worth 900 gold: 20 Ability Haste and 45 Move Speed in patch 26.21. Ionian Insight grows to 20 Summoner Spell Haste, and Noxian Haste gives a burst of Move Speed for 4 seconds when your abilities hit enemy champions, help allies, or when you cast a summoner spell.
What does Crimson Lucidity add over Ionian Boots?
Three things. More Ability Haste, double the Summoner Spell Haste, and a new Move Speed passive. The flat Move Speed stays exactly where the tier-two boots left it, so all the extra speed comes from the passive.
Summoner Spell Haste going from 10 to 20 is a real gain on Flash. Thing is, Flash is the spell that decides whether you live through a gank or land an engage, and having it up more often changes how aggressive you can play (supports feel this the most).
How does Noxian Haste work?
It triggers from almost anything active you do in a fight: damaging an enemy champion with an ability, shielding or buffing an ally with one, or casting a summoner spell. Each trigger grants Move Speed for 4 seconds.
There’s a limit. One ability cast can trigger it only once, so an area spell that hits five enemies still gives one burst, not five. Riot’s data text doesn’t list the Move Speed amount (the client tooltip shows it). In practice, champions who cast often stay fast through most of a fight, which helps both chasing and kiting.
Is it gold efficient?
Extremely, at 171%. Its stats are worth 1,540 gold, far above its 900 gold value, mostly because Ability Haste is expensive.
In numbers: 20 Ability Haste at 50 gold per point gives 1,000 gold, and 45 Move Speed at 12 gold per point gives 540 gold. Neither passive is counted. Since the upgrade carries no combine cost over the Ionian Boots, there’s honestly no reason to skip it once it’s available.
How do you get Crimson Lucidity?
From Ionian Boots of Lucidity. Riot’s item data lists them as the only component with no extra combine cost, and the upgrade sells for 630 gold. How the upgrade unlocks in a match isn’t part of the item data, so check the shop in the client.
What’s the history of item 3171?
Short as boots. The ID used to belong to Bonetooth Necklace, the old Rengar item, and the Crimson Lucidity name arrived with the 2025 season:
- Patch 25.S1.1: renamed from Bonetooth Necklace, Ability Haste 25 and Move Speed 50 added, value 1,650 gold.
- 25.09 brought the value down to 1,400 gold.
- Patch 26.1: value 1,400 → 900 gold, Ability Haste 25 → 20, Move Speed 50 → 45, effect text changed.
Patch 26.1 tied the upgrade’s value to the Ionian Boots price and trimmed the stats a bit. Older Bonetooth entries still appear in the table above (the ID is shared, so patch 4.5 shows up too). Our LoL items database lets you compare every boots upgrade side by side.
Who should go for Crimson Lucidity?
Everyone who already took Ionian Boots. Why wouldn’t you? The real decision is at tier two, and if Ability Haste boots were right for your champion, this upgrade just adds more of what you wanted. Sure, there are niche cases where another boots path fits better, but those are decided before this point.
Who gets the most from it? Supports who shield, heal or engage constantly, mages with short cooldowns, and fighters who weave abilities between autos. Each of them triggers Noxian Haste many times per fight, often several times within the same 4 seconds, so the bonus barely drops off while the fight lasts and you get to reposition after every spell instead of standing still. Our guide to LoL roles covers which positions lean on cooldowns, and for those players Crimson Lucidity is the natural end of the boots path.
