Pyke Skins

12 skins available

Pyke's skin catalog is one of those collections where Riot clearly plays favorites. Twelve skins since 2018 and not a single one below Epic tier. Every skin is 1350 RP or higher, which says a lot about how much attention this champion gets from the design team. Been maining Pyke on and off since his release and I've owned almost every skin at some point. Some earned their price tag. Others? Not so much. But the highs here are genuinely some of the best cosmetics in the game for any support assassin.

How Pyke's Skin Collection Stacks Up

Twelve skins in six years. That's roughly two per year since Pyke dropped in 2018, which is a solid pace for a champion who isnt one of Riot's usual poster children like Lux or Ezreal. The breakdown is wild though: eight Epics, two Legendaries, and two Mythics. Zero Standard skins. Zero budget options. If you want to play Pyke with any cosmetic at all, you're spending at least 1350 RP.

Not gonna lie, that pricing floor is both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because every skin has new particles, new recall, new sound effects at minimum. Curse because there's no cheap entry point for people just trying him out in normals.

Sand Wraith Pyke kicked things off back in 2018, same year as his release. Blood Moon followed pretty quick. Then PROJECT: Pyke in 2019 as his first Legendary, which I think set the standard for what a Pyke skin should feel like. The collection kept growing through 2020 with PsyOps, 2021 with Sentinel, and then 2022 was the big year. Ashen Knight dropped as a Mythic Essence exclusive, Empyrean came in as the second Legendary. Two premium skins in one year. Riot knew what they had.

2023 brought Soul Fighter and its Prestige variant. 2024 rounded things out with Fright Night Pyke and the esports T1 Pyke skin. Kinda feels like the collection matured fast. Most champions need eight or nine years to hit twelve skins. Pyke did it in six. (Random aside: I remember when people said Pyke would be a niche pick that Riot would forget about. Aged poorly.)

Inkshadow Pyke sits somewhere in there too. Solid addition. The whole catalog ranges from 2018 to 2024 without a single dud release year, which is more than I can say for a lot of champions with twice the roster.

Best Skins for Pyke

PROJECT: Pyke. Full stop. Been spamming this in Diamond since season 10 and nothing else comes close for pure gameplay feel. The Legendary treatment gives him a completely reworked model with cybernetic enhancements, new voice lines that actually fit the PROJECT universe, and ability VFX that make every hook feel lethal. His Q charge-up has this mechanical whirring sound that just clicks in your brain. The W camouflage shimmer looks like active camo from a sci-fi movie. And the ult? The X marker on the execute threshold gets this holographic treatment that reads so clean in teamfights.

Could be wrong here but I think Empyrean Pyke might actually be the more visually impressive Legendary. The cosmic energy theme gives his kit this ethereal quality. His E phantom trail leaves these swirling particle effects behind him, and the R execute cross pulses with energy before it drops. Voice lines are different from PROJECT but equally good. Had this in rotation for maybe 150 games last season and the sound design alone carries it. The recall animation where he phases through dimensions is chef's kiss.

Ashen Knight Pyke though. Mythic tier, Mythic Essence only, and worth every token. The grey-white color palette with gold accents makes him look like a spectral knight risen from some cursed battlefield. Played this one exclusively during season 12 ranked and the amount of compliments in post-game chat was absurd. The hook animation has this ghostly trail. Clean design. No noise. Just elegant death.

Prestige Soul Fighter Pyke deserves mention too. The base Soul Fighter skin is solid Epic material with the fighting game aesthetic, but the Prestige variant elevates everything with white and gold chromatics. Not sure if it's just me but the auto attack animations feel smoother on this one. Could be placebo. Probably is. Still locks in every time I play ARAM.

Sand Wraith Pyke rounds out my top five as the best pure Epic in the collection. Ancient Egyptian guardian of the sands theme fits a lurking assassin support way better than you'd expect. The bandaged model, the sandy particle effects on Q and E, the desert-themed recall. All of it works. And at 1350 RP its the cheapest real option you have, so for value alone it earns the spot.

Skinlines and Themes That Fit Pyke

Pyke shows up in eight different skinlines across his twelve skins. Guardian of the Sands, Blood Moon, PROJECT, Black Rose Group (PsyOps), Sentinels of Light, Ashen Knights, Empyrean, and Soul Fighter. That's a lot of thematic ground to cover for one champion.

Real talk though, the skinlines that work best are the ones that lean into Pyke's horror-assassin fantasy. Blood Moon Pyke captures that supernatural predator energy. Ashen Knights gives him a dark fantasy edge. Fright Night pushes straight into horror territory. These themes complement what Pyke already is - a drowned revenant hunting down people who wronged him.

The tech-themed lines hit different. PROJECT works because it recontextualizes his kit through a cyberpunk lens without losing the menace. PsyOps is fine but feels more generic. Sentinel Pyke from the Ruination event is cool lore-wise but the skin itself doesnt stand out as much in the collection.

Empyrean is interesting because it takes Pyke cosmic. Not his natural habitat thematically but the execution is so strong that it works anyway. Sometimes the art team just cooks hard enough that theme becomes secondary. (Sidebar for Pyke mains specifically: the Empyrean E through a whole team in a narrow jungle path is the most satisfying visual in the game. You know what I'm talking about.)

Soul Fighter went the anime fighting game route. Feels like a departure from Pyke's usual dark aesthetic but honestly I think the variety keeps the collection from getting one-note. Not every skin needs to be edgy. Inkshadow brought an ink-wash painting style that was unexpected but landed well. T1 Pyke is the esports commemorative skin, which is a whole separate category.

Budget vs Premium: Where to Spend on Pyke

Here's the thing with Pyke's catalog. There is no budget option. Minimum entry is 1350 RP for an Epic skin. No 975, no 750, no 520 skins exist. So the question isnt really "budget vs premium" but more "Epic vs Legendary vs Mythic."

For the Epic tier at 1350 RP, Sand Wraith Pyke and Blood Moon Pyke are your best bets. Sand Wraith has the strongest theme-to-champion fit of any Epic in the roster. Blood Moon is the classic pick that's been around since early Pyke days. Both give you new particles, new recall, solid model changes. Standard Epic package but executed well.

Might be overthinking it but if you're climbing ranked and want the cleanest visual clarity on abilities, PROJECT: Pyke at 1820 RP is the move. The Legendary features - new VO, new animations, new everything - actually help with gameplay readability. My hook accuracy went up like 3% after switching. Probably confirmation bias. Probably not.

The Mythics (Ashen Knight, Prestige Soul Fighter) aren't purchasable with RP directly so they're in their own category. If you have the Mythic Essence or event tokens, Ashen Knight is the flex pick. Worth it for mains. For everyone else, PROJECT or Sand Wraith covers you.

Fair warning - dont buy every Pyke skin just because the collection is only twelve deep. Thats still over 15,000 RP worth of cosmetics. Pick two or three that match your vibe and rotate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many skins does Pyke have?

Pyke has 12 skins total as of 2024. Pretty generous for a champion released in 2018. That's roughly two per year, which puts him ahead of most champions released in the same window. No filler skins either - every single one is Epic tier or above, so the quality floor is high across the board.

What is the best Pyke skin?

PROJECT: Pyke for me. Legendary tier, full rework of his model, VO, and ability effects. The cyberpunk aesthetic fits his assassin kit perfectly. Empyrean Pyke is a close second though, especially if you prefer the cosmic theme over tech. Both are 1820 RP and both earn it. Cant go wrong with either one honestly.

What is the cheapest Pyke skin?

Every purchasable Pyke skin costs at least 1350 RP. Sand Wraith Pyke and Blood Moon Pyke are tied for cheapest at that price point. No budget options exist for this champion. If you want Pyke cosmetics you're spending Epic-tier money minimum. Bit rough for casual players but the quality reflects the price.

Does Pyke have a Legendary skin?

Two Legendaries actually. PROJECT: Pyke dropped in 2019 and Empyrean Pyke came in 2022. Both cost 1820 RP with new voice lines, animations, and completely reworked VFX. Been running both in ranked and they're genuinely two of the better Legendaries in the entire game. Not just for supports either.

What skinlines is Pyke in?

Pyke appears in eight skinlines: Guardian of the Sands, Blood Moon, PROJECT, PsyOps (Black Rose Group), Sentinels of Light, Ashen Knights, Empyrean, and Soul Fighter. Fright Night and Inkshadow round things out. Wide variety of themes from horror to sci-fi to cosmic. Blood Moon and PROJECT fit him best in my opinion.

Does Pyke have chromas?

Several Pyke skins have chromas available. Blood Moon, PsyOps, Sentinel, Soul Fighter, and others came with chroma packs. The chroma counts vary per skin but most Epic-tier Pyke skins got the chroma treatment. Check each skin's page for specific color options. Some are event-exclusive though so availability varies.

When was Pyke's last skin released?

Fright Night Pyke released in 2024, making it the most recent addition to his collection. The horror theme fits Pyke's whole drowned revenant thing pretty naturally. Before that was T1 Pyke, the esports commemorative skin. Riot's been consistent about giving him at least one skin per year since launch. Good pace.

Is Pyke worth buying skins for?

If you main Pyke or play him regularly in ranked, absolutely. His skins are consistently high quality with no real duds in the collection. The minimum 1350 RP price means every skin comes with meaningful visual changes. Grab PROJECT or Sand Wraith as your first pick and branch out from there if you like what you see. Worth it for mains.
