WoW Forever Zones + Map: Three New Regions

Verified November 6, 2026 · Status: released
World of Warcraft: Forever adds three net-new zones to the original Azeroth continents and introduces Zephras Isle as the Skyborne starting area — on top of substantially-changed existing zones. Blizzard’s announcement highlights “Three new zones, over 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, two new raids, the new Skyborne race, and so much more.” The three new zones are confirmed in Blizzard’s own launch blog; specific zone names were revealed at BlizzCon 2026 panels. This page covers what Blizzard has announced about the map, the Zephras Isle starting experience, and which existing continents received overhauls. Verified on 6 November 2026.

The three new zones
Blizzard’s announcement confirms Forever launched with three new zones. Specific zone names and their unlock cadence were revealed in the BlizzCon 2026 panel series. Blizzard’s own words: “Three new zones, over 1,000 new quests.”
What Blizzard has stated is announced and verified:
- Three new zones exist at launch — not spread over future updates.
- They are on the original Azeroth continents (not separate continents).
- They contribute to the quest total (1,000+) that spans launch content.
- Each is designed around the Forever-specific storyline set after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom.
Specific per-zone details beyond this are announced but not fully confirmed in Blizzard’s main post — we cite only what Blizzard has stated.
Zephras Isle — the Skyborne starting experience
Zephras Isle is Blizzard’s new starting zone specifically for Skyborne characters. Blizzard confirmed: “The playable Skyborne race, with a Zephras Isle starting experience.”
What’s announced about Zephras Isle:
- Dedicated Skyborne starting zone — Skyborne characters begin here, not in traditional starting zones.
- Introductory experience designed to onboard new players into the Skyborne race’s identity and story.
- Required to unlock Skyborne — pack buyers who skip the intro typically miss some character-specific lore.
Existing races (Human, Orc, Night Elf, etc.) don’t use Zephras Isle. Their starting zones remain unchanged, though Blizzard notes “substantially changed existing areas” for the broader Azeroth map.
What “substantially changed existing areas” means
Blizzard’s phrasing on the original-continents updates: “plus substantially changed existing areas.” Specific changes:
- Original Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor retain their base geography and quest structure.
- Specific zones within those continents received updates to quest content, visual polish, and world events tied to the Forever storyline.
- Named changes are detailed in BlizzCon 2026 panel content, which Blizzard has not yet collated into a single news post.
This page marks the detailed zone-by-zone changes as not yet confirmed in a single Blizzard source — for specifics, watch Blizzard’s upcoming per-zone post on worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/news.
Map scope — what’s included
Three categories of map content in Forever:
| Content | Description | Count |
|---|---|---|
| New zones | Zones added by Forever, not in Classic or modern WoW | 3 |
| Zephras Isle | Skyborne-specific starting zone | 1 |
| Changed existing zones | Original continents with Forever updates | Not specified |
| Classic zones (base) | Original Eastern Kingdoms + Kalimdor foundation | Shared |
The original Azeroth geography is preserved — Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and the cross-continent regions remain. Forever layers new content without replacing existing geography.
Quest density
Blizzard confirms over 1,000 new quests at launch. Combined with:
- Original WoW’s roughly 2,000+ base quests in the 1-60 zone range.
- Forever’s additive quest content layered on top.
- Zephras Isle’s own quest chain for Skyborne.
The total quest pool for a level-60 Forever character sits significantly above base Classic. Exact total hasn’t been published by Blizzard but is announced as >1000 net-new.
Compared to WoW Classic’s map
Three structural differences between Forever and WoW Classic:
- Forever adds new zones. Classic does not — Classic is faithful to original WoW’s geography.
- Forever adds a new race starting area. Classic has only the original starting zones.
- Forever updates existing areas. Classic keeps original zone content largely unchanged.
For players who want the pure original WoW experience, Classic remains the authentic path. Forever is the “Classic+” option with layered new content.
FAQ

What is Zephras Isle?
The new starting zone for Skyborne characters. Only Skyborne begin here, with a dedicated introductory experience. Required to unlock the Skyborne race’s identity and story content.
