Apex Legends supports cross-platform progression — link PC (Steam/Origin), Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch accounts via your EA account at ea.com/accounts, share cosmetics and Apex Coins across platforms, but ranked and leaderboards are platform-specific; cross-platform matchmaking available between consoles but not with PC by default. • PC Steam exclusion: By default, Steam PC players cannot match with consoles for input fairness (mouse+keyboard vs controller).

  • Disable cross-play for competitive: Some players disable to keep matches platform-pure.

Switching primary platform

  • Primary platform determines where your purchases originate.
  • Changing primary: contact EA support.
  • Cosmetics still work on linked accounts regardless of primary.
  • Apex Coins / Legend Tokens: purchase on one platform, use on any linked.
  • Exception: platform-exclusive bundles (Microsoft Store offers) stay on their platform.

If linking isn’t working

  • “Account already linked”? → the linked EA account belongs to someone else’s profile. Contact EA to unlink first.
  • Platform rejects link? → make sure both accounts are active (not banned, not deleted).
  • Steam Apex won’t link? → verify Steam account has an active playtime in Apex.
  • Progress not transferring? → wait 24-48 hours after initial link.
  • Cosmetics missing on new platform? → log out and back in; may need app reinstall.
  • Related: Apex ranked, Battle Pass, Firing Range, error codes.
  • Still stuck → EA support at help.ea.com.

FAQ

Can I use my Apex account on multiple platforms?

Yes. Link your EA account at ea.com/accounts → connect Steam, Xbox Live, PSN, and Nintendo accounts. Cosmetics, Apex Coins, and progression share across all linked platforms.

Does ranked share across platforms?

No. Ranked progression is per-platform. Your Xbox rank doesn’t affect your PC rank. Leaderboards are also per-platform.

Why can’t PC Steam players match with consoles?

Input fairness. Mouse+keyboard on PC has advantage over controller on console. Apex excludes Steam PC players from console lobbies by default. PC Origin/EA App players can match with consoles.

Launch Apex on Steam at least once (plays briefly to register). Then ea.com/accounts → Link Steam. Follow the prompt. Takes 15-30 minutes to sync.

Can I party cross-platform?

Yes. Invite friends on other platforms via friend code. Party-chat and voice work across platforms. Cross-play must be enabled in Settings for in-match matching.

What’s the difference between EA App and Origin?

EA App is the newer launcher (replaces Origin). Both load Apex; EA App is the current supported option. Origin still works but is deprecated.

Yes — via EA support. Submit ticket to unlink. May take a few days. Cross-platform cosmetics lose availability on the unlinked platform but remain on others.
