Summoner’s Rift — key champion changes
Patch 26.17 had a mixed buff/nerf distribution across 12 champions. Headline specifics:
- Aurelion Sol. Q mana cost 35-55 per second → 30-50; W cooldown 22/20.5/19/17.5/16s → 22/20/18/16/14s.
- Cho’Gath. E base damage 20-100 → 30-110.
- Graves. Q initial bonus AD ratio 65% → 55%; return bonus AD ratio 55-115% → 45-105%.
- Irelia. Q AD ratio 70% → 80%; W AP damage reduction 7% → 8% per 100 AP; R AP ratio 70% → 100%.
- LeBlanc. Attack speed ratio 0.4 → 0.625; attack speed growth 2.35% → 1.5%; W and RW AP ratios 80% → 90%.
- Nasus. Soul Eater lifesteal 12/18/24% → 10/15/20%.
- Nocturne. Armor 38 → 36; health 655 → 640.
- Qiyana. Q damage +85% → +90% bonus AD; monster damage modifier 175% → 160%.
- Thresh. E active damage ratio 70% → 60% AP.
- Trundle. W attack speed bonus 30-90% → 30-110%.
- Vayne. Health 550 + 103/level → 580 + 98/level; Q mana cost 30 → 46/42/38/34/30; W true damage and minimum damage reduced.
- Xerath. Health 596 → 575; Q damage 75-235 → 70-230.
- Yasuo/Yone. Critical strike damage reduction halved (-10% → -5%).
Vayne’s changes read as a rework-level update — redistributing power from early W true-damage threat to later-game health scaling. LeBlanc’s attack speed shift makes her more autoattack-viable for mid-game kite patterns.
Items on Summoner’s Rift
Two item-level shifts in 26.17:
- Stormrazor. Attack speed 20% → 25%.
- Sundered Sky. Health 450 → 400; attack damage 45 → 40.
Sundered Sky lost power in both health and AD to pull back the item’s dominance for bruiser mids and fighters. Stormrazor’s attack speed bump helps crit-build marksmen hit power spikes faster on Infinity Edge → Stormrazor rush paths.
Arena — new schedule and changes
Riot’s Arena schedule change in 26.17: balance patches now land on odd-numbered patches. That means 26.17, 26.19, 26.21, 26.23 are Arena balance patches; even numbers skip Arena.
Arena champion changes in 26.17 touch 14 champions: Ambessa, Garen, Gragas, K’Sante, Kled, LeBlanc, Renata Glasc, Renekton, Senna, Tahm Kench, Teemo, Vel’Koz, Zaahen, Zilean. Notable:
- Zilean. Chronoshift cooldown increased.
- Garen. Courage and Perseverance buffs.
Arena item adjustments: Ardent Censer, Lord Dominik’s Regards, Mortal Reminder, Redemption, Serylda’s Grudge, Staff of Flowing Water, Sword of Blossoming Dawn. Spectral Cutlass had a bug fixed that had been doubling its Lethality.
The Augment Serve Beyond Death had its duration increased, extending the window during which the Augment’s revive mechanic applies.
Mayhem (ARAM Bridges) changes
Mayhem gained two Augments in 26.17: Ultra Hydra and Upgrade Death’s Dance. Augment rebalances:
- Critical Missile. Max 4 → 3 missiles.
- Double Tap. Moved from Gold to Prismatic tier.
- Tripleshot. Prioritizes enemies near the main target.
- Upgrade Infinity Edge. Lost its critical strike chance.
- Upgrade Ravenous. Cleave now triggers on minions; lifesteal 18% → 20%.
Bug fixes: Squishy Slappy Grab timing, Blood Money Burn Gold gain, and several other Augment interaction bugs.
Classic — 20 champion balance changes
Classic received about 20 balance changes in 26.17, covering: Ahri, Annie, Ashe, Blitzcrank, Dr. Mundo, Evelynn, Ezreal, Garen, Gragas, Heimerdinger, Jax, Kayle, Lux, Miss Fortune, Sivir, Tristana, Tryndamere, Twitch.
Classic items also changed:
- Innervating Locket. Substantially buffed; combine cost reduced.
- Wriggle’s Lantern and Feral Flare. Changed from Attack Damage to Attack Speed items.
Classic — systems and progression
Four systemic Classic changes in 26.17:
- Everyone gets 2 free Rune Pages.
- IP and Classic XP gains doubled.
- Quintessence IP cost reduced. 1250 → 1000.
- Minor Rune IP cost reduced. 650 → 500.
- Quintessence of Health Regeneration increased. +1.5 → +3.0 per 5 seconds.
The progression-easing changes lower the grind wall for new Classic players and help returning players rebuild Rune pages after switching mains.
System-level: Champion and role swapping in Champion Select, the first Council vote launched, ranked loading-screen borders removed. Summoner’s Rift art got updated foliage, decals, lighting, and textures to look closer to the original.
Dozens of bug fixes
Classic had “several dozen fixes” per Riot’s patch notes. Notable:
- Exhaust. True damage interaction fixed.
- Vayne’s Condemn. Tear stacks fixed.
The Exhaust and Condemn fixes resolve long-standing interactions that affected competitive and ranked play.
