Gold efficiency
| Stat | Amount | Gold per point | Gold value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attack Damage | 45 | 35 g | 1575 g |
| Ability Power | 45 | 20 g | 900 g |
| Attack Speed % | 30 | 25 g | 750 g |
| Move Speed % | 4 | 75 g | 300 g |
| Total stat value | 3525 g |
Gold efficiency = stat value ÷ item cost = 3525 ÷ 3000 = 118%. The gold per point comes from basic items of the same patch (for example, Long Sword: 35 g per Attack Damage). Passives and actives are not counted.

We compare cost and stats patch by patch in Riot's Data Dragon files. "Effect text changed" means the passive or active wording changed in that patch.
Statikk Shiv is a 3,000 gold hybrid item in League of Legends that adds chain lightning to your attacks: 45 Attack Damage, 45 Ability Power, 30% Attack Speed and 4% Move Speed in patch 26.21. Its Energized attacks fire lightning that deals magic damage to nearby targets and applies on-hit effects, and your basic attacks build Energized stacks faster than usual.
How do Electrospark and Electroshock work?
Statikk uses the Energized system. Moving and attacking build Energized stacks, and once they’re full, your next attack is Energized. With this item, that attack triggers Electrospark: chain lightning that jumps to nearby targets, deals magic damage, and applies your on-hit effects to each one.
Electroshock speeds the cycle up. Basic attacks grant extra Energized stacks, so a champion who attacks constantly fires the lightning much more often than one who only walks around. Put simply, the item rewards fighting, not just moving.
How much damage does the lightning do, and how many targets does it hit? Riot’s data text leaves both to the in-game tooltip (where the numbers update with your stats). What the text does make clear is that each bounce applies on-hit effects, which is the part that makes it interesting on champions with strong on-hit kits.
Why does it give both AD and AP?
Since patch 26.9, the item carries Ability Power alongside Attack Damage. The lightning deals magic damage, so the Ability Power gives the passive something to scale with, while the Attack Damage and Attack Speed keep it useful for normal attacks.
That makes it a hybrid item first. Champions who scale with both damage types get full value; a pure AD marksman wastes the Ability Power, and a pure mage wastes most of the rest (Attack Speed does little for a caster). Funny enough, the change also made it more expensive, which we cover in the history section below.
Is Statikk Shiv gold efficient?
Yes, at 118%, if you count every stat. The four stats total 3,525 gold against a 3,000 gold price.
Line by line: 45 Attack Damage at 35 gold per point gives 1,575 gold, 45 Ability Power at 20 gold per point gives 900, 30% Attack Speed at 25 gold per percent gives 750, and 4% Move Speed at 75 gold per percent gives 300. The catch is obvious once you see it: that efficiency assumes you use both AD and AP. For a champion who uses only one, the real figure is far lower.
What does it build from?
Three parts: Scout’s Slingshot (600 gold), Aether Wisp (900 gold) and Pickaxe (875 gold), plus 625 gold. Pickaxe or Aether Wisp first, depending on which damage type your champion leans on (Aether Wisp also brings the Move Speed early); the Slingshot brings the Attack Speed. Statikk is a finished item, so there’s no further upgrade to save gold for.
What changed in recent patches?
A lot in the last two seasons. Riot’s data has it from 2013. The recent changes:
- Patch 14.19: Attack Damage 55 → 50, Attack Speed 45% → 40%, Move Speed 5% → 4%.
- Patch 14.20: Attack Speed 40% → 35%, effect text changed.
- Patch 14.22: cost 2,900 → 2,700 gold, Attack Damage 50 → 45, Attack Speed 35% → 30%, effect text changed.
- Patch 26.9: cost 2,700 → 3,000 gold, Ability Power added at 45, Attack Damage 45 → 40, effect text changed.
- Patch 26.11: Attack Damage 40 → 45.
So three straight nerfs in late 2024, then a rework into a hybrid item in 26.9 with a quick AD top-up two patches later. Honestly, anything written about this item before 26.9 describes a different item.
Who should build Statikk Shiv?
Hybrid champions and on-hit attackers who scale with both Attack Damage and Ability Power, especially those who clear waves with basic attacks. The lightning also speeds up farming and helps in fights where enemies stand close together.
Pure crit marksmen usually want something else; for multi-target damage without the AP, Runaan’s Hurricane is the closer fit. Not sure whether your champion counts as hybrid? Our champion guides cover each kit. If your champion’s damage really does split between attacks and magic, Statikk Shiv is built for exactly that.
