FAQ
How long are Dota 2 replays available?
About 2 weeks per match. After expiration, the replay is removed from Valve’s servers and cannot be retrieved. Download promptly if you want to keep a specific match.
Where are replay files stored?
<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/dota/replays/. Files are .dem format and play only inside the Dota 2 client (no external player).
Can I watch live games?
Yes — Watch tab → Live Games → DotaTV. Filter by rank, region, hero picked. Live matches have a ~2-minute delay to prevent stream sniping.
How fast can I play back a replay?
From 0.25x (slow-motion for learning) to 8x (quick review). Use 2x for general watching, 4x+ when scrubbing through specific moments.
Can I see enemy perspective?
Yes — toggle Fog of War off and you see everything from both teams. Great for learning positioning and reading opponent behavior.
Can I control the camera freely?
Yes — press F to toggle free camera. Fly anywhere on the map. Alternatively, press 1-5 to lock to a specific player’s camera (Radiant 1-5 and Dire 6-10).
