Space Groove Lulu

First game I played with Space Groove Lulu was some random Tuesday night in season 11, and I remember thinking Riot finally gave Lulu a skin that matched her energy. Not gonna lie, the disco theme fits her kit so naturally that going back to base Lulu after felt wrong. Pix turns into this little floating disco companion and the whole vibe just clicks when you’re running around bot lane polymorphing people into groovy critters.

What Space Groove Lulu actually brings

The VFX overhaul on this Epic skin carries hard. Q fires out these swirling neon projectiles that read cleanly in teamfights, which matters more than people think. Been playing support in Diamond for years and clarity on Glitterlance’s hitbox has lost me kills before on other Lulu skins where the particles get muddy. Space Groove fixes that.

W polymorph turns enemies into a little disco ball creature. Genuinely funny. Had a game last week where I polymorphed their Katarina mid-ult in dragon pit and my whole team started spamming emotes. The E shield has this retro sparkle effect that looks clean on your ADC, and R knockup gets the full disco treatment with a burst of colorful VFX around whoever you ult. Solid work across the board.

Recall animation is where Lulu and Pix hit a little dance routine. Short and sweet. (Random aside: I’ve watched the recall loop probably 400 times waiting for my jungler to finish farming.) Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but honestly Lulu’s default voice already has enough personality that it doesnt hurt the skin much. The model itself goes full 70s space funk with platform boots, a star-shaped hat, and color palette that screams retro sci-fi dance floor.

The Space Groove line and release context

Space Groove Lulu dropped April 1, 2021. The Space Groove skinline launched that same patch and Riot clearly put effort into making it a cohesive set. Lulu fits the theme better than most of the roster honestly. Kinda feels like the whole line was designed around her aesthetic and everyone else had to adapt.

Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash. The composition puts Lulu center stage with Pix floating beside her in this cosmic disco dimension. Colors pop without being overwhelming. Check the background details if you haven’t, there’s a lot going on.

9 chromas total for this one. Tanzanite is my pick, the deep purple shifts the whole skin into a darker funk vibe that reads really well on the Rift. Disco chroma goes full rainbow which is fun for normals but maybe too much visual noise for ranked. Obsidian exists for the people who want dark Lulu, and fair enough it looks clean. Could be wrong here but I think most Lulu mains end up rotating between two or three chromas rather than sticking with base.

Is Space Groove Lulu worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, a fun recall, strong model redesign. For an Epic tier skin thats about all you can ask for. No new voice lines keeps it from being perfect but that’s standard at this price point.

If you main Lulu or play her as a pocket pick for peel comps, Space Groove is top pick for Lulu mains alongside Star Guardian and Dragon Trainer. Different vibes though. Star Guardian is the clean competitive choice, Dragon Trainer has the nostalgia factor, and Space Groove is pure fun. Been running this as my go-to Lulu skin since season 12 and I keep coming back to it over the alternatives.

Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush. But if you’re a Lulu one-trick climbing through ranked and you want something that looks good and plays clean, this is the one. Maybe just my experience but the Q particles on Space Groove Lulu feel easier to track than any other Lulu skin, and in late-game teamfights where you’re trying to poke through the backline while keeping your carry alive, that clarity matters. Might be overthinking it but I swear I land more Glitterlances with this skin equipped. Season 13 I think, played maybe 150 games with it in a two month stretch and never got tired of looking at it. Worth the RP.
