Bad Santa Veigar

First time I saw Bad Santa Veigar load into my game I genuinely laughed out loud. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something deeply funny about the tiny master of evil dressed up as a grumpy mall Santa. Played against one last December in a ranked game around midnight and the whole lobby was typing about it. The skin just works because Veigar already has that cranky old wizard energy, and slapping a Santa outfit on him leans into it perfectly.

What Bad Santa Veigar actually brings

For a 975 RP Standard tier skin this one punches above its weight. The model swap puts Veigar in a full red Santa suit with a big belt and hat. His staff gets replaced with what looks like a candy cane or some kind of holiday staff. Clean redesign.

The VFX are where it gets fun. His Q throws out what I think are wrapped presents, and his W drops a giant gift box from the sky instead of the usual dark matter. Genuinely satisfying. Dark Matter landing on someone’s head as a massive Christmas present while you’re stacking AP in lane – hard to beat that feeling. His E cage keeps the holiday colors going too. Been running this in Diamond during every Snowdown event since like season 4 or 5 and the particles still hold up surprisingly well for a 2012 skin.

The recall animation is a nice touch. Veigar pulls out a naughty list, checks it, then does his evil laugh thing. Fits the whole “evil Santa” vibe. Voice lines stay base though, no new VO. Kinda feels like new voice lines wouldve really completed the package, but for 975 RP I cant complain too much. The base Veigar voice already sounds grumpy enough to pass as a disgruntled Santa anyway.

Snowdown Showdown and release context

Bad Santa Veigar dropped December 14, 2012. Part of the Snowdown Showdown skinline, which Riot used to go harder on back in the day. Volta Studio did the splash and they captured that mischievous energy well – Veigar looking sinister with presents scattered around him. (Random aside: this splash was my Discord avatar for two holiday seasons straight.)

This is a Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever you want. Typically shows up during the winter event rotation around December. Been playing League since season 3 and I think I’ve seen it available maybe six or seven times total. If you spot it in the shop during Snowdown, thats your window.

Should you pick up Bad Santa Veigar?

Real verdict: this is one of the better comedy skins in the game. 975 RP feels fair for what you get – model swap, custom VFX on abilities, recall animation. For Veigar mains specifically this sits in a weird spot because Final Boss exists and thats the tryhard pick, but Bad Santa Veigar is the one you lock in when you want to tilt the enemy mid with style.

Honestly not gonna lie, I rotate between this and Elderwood depending on the season. Bad Santa comes out every December like clockwork in my skin rotation. The Q and W particles alone make laning phase more entertaining, and when you’re one-shotting someone late-game with a full combo of Christmas presents it never gets old. Real talk though – if you dont play Veigar regularly, skip it. But for Veigar mains who want something with personality beyond the edgy skins, Bad Santa is top pick for the holiday slot. Worth 975 RP if you main Veigar. Just watch for the Legacy rotation in December, that ranked game where my jungler was spam pinging dragon while I was farming Q stacks mid – even he stopped to compliment the skin.
