BZZZiggs

First time I saw BZZZiggs load into a game I thought someone was trolling. A bee Ziggs. Full commitment to the bit. But then the Q landed and the little honeycomb explosion popped off and I just sat there grinning like an idiot. Been running this skin in Diamond for two seasons now and honestly its one of those skins that never gets old. The pun alone carries half the value.

What the Bees! line does to Ziggs

So BZZZiggs turns Ziggs into a full bee. Yellow and black striped body, little wings on his back, antennae poking out. The bombs become honeycombs and beehives. Might be overthinking it but I think the Q animation actually reads slightly different because of the honeycomb shape – rounder, more noticeable against the Rift ground textures.

The W is a beehive that pops. Clean effect. E scatters little honey mines across the lane and they have this golden glow that makes them easier to track in teamfights, which is funny because usually Ziggs mines blend into the chaos. The R is the highlight though. Big honeycomb bomb arcing across the map. The landing zone indicator has a hex pattern to it. Satisfying.

New recall animation too. Ziggs buzzes around with his little wings and interacts with honey. Standard VO though, voice lines stay base. Not gonna lie, I think custom bee-themed voice lines would have pushed this into must-buy territory for Ziggs mains, but at 1350 RP you cant expect Legendary treatment.

The VFX color palette is warm golds and ambers across every ability. Played maybe 40 games with this in one week when it dropped and the particle work held up. No visual clutter, no readability issues for the enemy team. Riot’s art team understood the assignment here.

The Bees! skinline and who made it

BZZZiggs dropped March 3, 2022. Mid season 12. Part of the Bees! skinline which is one of Riot’s most committed joke lines. Yuubee, Beezahar, Bee’Maw, Heimerstinger, BeeZcrank – the whole roster. Ziggs fits naturally because his kit is literally “throw round things” and honeycombs are round things.

Huyy Nguyen and West Studio handled the artwork. They nailed the splash – Ziggs mid-throw with honey dripping everywhere, surrounded by actual bees. The expression on his face sells the whole fantasy. (Random aside: I cropped this splash for a Discord avatar and got three DMs asking what game it was from.)

8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, turns the whole bee theme dark and menacing which is hilarious on a joke skin. Rainbow is the meme pick obviously, full pride colors on a bee Ziggs. Pearl gives it this white-and-gold royal bee look that I think reads cleaner than the base in bot lane specifically. The rest are solid but those three pull the most weight.

Available any time. Shop has it at 1350 RP. This Epic tier skin sits right in the standard price range for what Riot delivers with new VFX and recall.

Should you lock in BZZZiggs?

Real verdict: if you play Ziggs at all, this is a top pick. Could be wrong here but I think BZZZiggs edges out Master Arcanist for second best Ziggs skin behind Hextech. The joke commitment is there. The VFX are clean. The chromas add genuine variety.

Where it falls short is the audio department. No new voice filter, no buzzing sound effects on abilities. Last Tuesday I was spamming Ziggs in a ranked session and switched between BZZZiggs and Odyssey back to back – Odyssey has more audio identity even though the VFX on BZZZiggs hit harder visually. That gap matters for some people.

For Ziggs one-tricks who grind poke comp in mid or bot lane, 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The skin reads well at the ranges Ziggs operates at. Your Q spam across lane looks distinct. Your ult cross-map feels thematic. Skip it if you need serious dark fantasy vibes on your champions, but if you can handle a bee throwing honeycomb grenades in your Diamond promos then this is the one. Been daily driving it over Battle Boss for months and I keep coming back. The Bees! line is one of Riot’s better joke sets and Ziggs earned his spot in it.
